My partner and I stayed at The Manor for two nights to celebrate her birthday. The hotel was close enough to Watford centre, where we went to eat and watch a theatre show on Saturday night. The main reason we stayed in Watford though was to go the Warner Bros. Studios Tour. We found the hotel to be a suitable distance from the attraction (15-20 min drive). The decor in the lobby of the hotel was beautiful, but perhaps could be refurbished, e.g. the carpets either needed a deep clean or replacing. When we approached our room, there were dirty breakfast items on a table outside one of the rooms and dirty towels outside another (this was about 3pm). The dirty breakfast things were still there when we got back to the room at about 9:30pm. However, we think there might have been a wedding taking place so maybe the staff were rushed off their feet that day. The room was average. It was small, but big enough for 2 people for two nights. The wardrobe smelled a bit strange, but again only two night stay. The bed was comfortable. The breakfast on Sunday morning was chaotic. It was buffet-style and overcrowded. I think the wedding guests increased the number of people quite substantially. Breakfast on Monday morning was much better, with our orders being taken from a menu rather than buffet-style. I think this system would be much better at the weekend too to avoid everybody from a wedding getting up and forming a queue through the restaurant. Overall, for the price I paid for the hotel I would expect better quality, and wouldn't stay for more than two nights.

I had to cut my stay a week short due to totally incompetent management, horrible food, lack of wifi in most places and so many other things I will refrain from listing them here so you don't think I'm just unhappy. Feel free to stay here is you want to feel horrible during the entire stay. One of the nights the power went out in the entire building, the front desk lady was trying to solve it on her own with no leadership around (I felt so bad for her because obviously she wasnt an electrician). Another day they ran out of milk, the following day they had no eggs, cannot call to the front desk because the phones in the place do not work and oh bees in the room.

Good morning Amar331, Genuinely sorry you found your experience at the Manor underwhelming. We have just had a booster for the wi-fi approved to solve the problem of 'cold spots' We are experiencing issues with our delivery services so unfortunately some crucial items were delayed in getting to us. Please know that this is not our usual quality; if you do allow us to show you we can do better a complementary upgrade to a Junior Suite will be waiting for you! Warm Regards Joanna Brown (FOM)

I absolutely loved our stay here. We were greeted at reception by a bubbly receptionist who told us that a wedding reception was on & she would upgrade us to a floor higher. We had a lovely room and iv not slept like that in a very long time. We had to drive out for our evening meal to a local restaurant to eat tho but that also was lovely. The only thing I would change or maybe give some guidance to is the rude bar man that was working.. After all we were still paying guests wedding or no wedding. I would not hesitate to go back tho as his attitude didn't dampen our stay. Loved it

Terrible hotel from start to finish. Reached late evening with my 10 year old son. Receptionist on phone with no care about waiting guests. Restaurant food is limited due to lack of supplies. Requested for a glass of milk for my son and got redirected to bar where there were no attendees. Finally gave up and went to a nearby restaurant to get milk and takeaway. Car park was in total darkness so had to use phone torch to get to car (car park lights switched on at around 9pm). On return with takeaway, requested for cutlery which never turned up. Room with no heating controls. Breakfast- made request for green tea but only one option available. Fine with that. The funniest part was we had a table with sachets of ketchup, salt and pepper which were either half or mostly used and empty. Nobody bothers attending at your table to check if you required anything. Strongly suggest to look elsewhere if in the area. Never to return again.

I have reviewed this hotel in the past, when it was Laura Ashley. We were looking forward to our return visit, but it has changed. The room was very tired, in need of quite a bit of renovation and a deep clean. The carpet and curtains are pretty much irredeemable. It looks like they are aiming for the event market - and the wedding that they hosted during our stay certainly took precedence over the comfort of the guests. The music only stopped at midnight, and I am still waiting for the duty manager to call me back in my room!

Hi Max, Thank you for taking the time to review your stay. We are, as i write this, refurbishing & painting the bedrooms, we do hope that you will visit a third time to see what we have achieved, we will treat you to an upgraded room in the main house ! We understand the way wedding parties can overtake the hotel that is why we let guests know when we have an event on, but we always value all our guests. Warm Regards Joanna Brown
