Booked for one night at The Old Church House and what a lucky find.
We arrived a little earlier than expected but we had a very warm welcome from the owner. She gave us a choice of rooms and we chose the twin room which was spacious and comfortable.
We were then asked if we would like a cup of tea a very welcome gesture.
The house is comfortable and it feels like you are staying with a friend rather than a cold B&B or a soulless chain hotel.
The location is great for Newport town and there are plenty of places locally to choose from for evening meal.
The breakfast the next morning was lovely, very nice quality ingredients for the cooked breakfast and all perfectly cooked. The dining room is very pleasant and surrounded with interesting curios displayed in a very tasteful way.
Would certainly recommend and would stay again. Excellent value for money as well.

Charming place, not far from city centre but quite and peaceful. Very nice room, clean and good bed and shower room. Very excellent breakfast, nice couple managing and cooking.
We would recommend and we shall be back hopefully. Beware there are some steps to the rooms if you are elderly o have problems with steps, other then that,5 out of 5 stars as a B&B with reasonable rates. Juan and Pongsak

Really lovely stay for the 4 of us. Bedroom was spacious, clean and super comfortable. Julie was the most accommodating hostess, nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was delicious. Location was great. Would highly recommend.

Lovely comfortable quiet B & B with superb varied breakfast each morning at your chosen time. Good location, 5 min walk to Newport town centre. Some good shops and plenty of places to eat. Central to IOW so easy to access both sides of the island. Julie, our host, was very kind and welcoming. Always happy to help. Rooms kept clean & tidy.

I have just tried to book a twin room at The Old Church House B&B for my mum & I for 4 nights in July. I phoned to enquire about availabillity and the price and was quoted ÂŁ70 per night with a ÂŁ70 deposit due. I phoned to check with my mum and due to the kids running around, she called to book. She phoned me back to say she had been quoted ÂŁ80 per night - in the space of literally 5 minutes the price had gone up by ÂŁ10!!! When she queried the price, he abruptly told her it was 'height of the season'. I called back to query and was extremely polite, explaining I had spoken to a lady. He was IMMEDIATELY rude, Saying if we were going to 'quibble over ÂŁ5, quite frankly we could go somewhere else'. I was astounded and said I was quibbling, I was querying as the lady had quoted ÂŁ70 only 10 minutes earlier. He snapped 'that lady was my wife and it's ÂŁ75 as it's height of the season. I can honestly say, I don't know how he gets ANY business with such a dreadful and aggressive manner and despite good reviews (which may well be made up), one bad experience like mine over-rides any positive feedback. How anyone can be so rude to someone like this is beyond me. We will be booking to go to the island and I will be extremely grateful that we won't be subjected to this man, As someone who has travelled to the Isle of Wight almost every year for 30 plus years I have only had positive experiences of all the accommodation so please, don't book with this man.

Oh, and how he can play the 'height of the season' card at this stage in May when he still has availability for July. Well, that says alot...

Fortunately for us this person never stayed at our B+B which is also our home as she admits in her review. Not sure why Trip Advisor refuse to take this review down as it is clearly malicious and breaks their own rules about reviews having to be written by people who have stayed in the accommodation they are writing about.

I thought this was a great place to stay. The room was clean and bright, and the welcome was warm. The room had lovely original features as does the rest of the house. There is a great range of food on offer for breakfast. I will definitely be back.

I am a cat lover and I loved the house cats. Guests may like to know about them before they book, just in case of allergies.

We stayed here in first week of May for 3 days. B & B is located very near to Newport bustand so it is very convenient to go around.

I booked B & B two months before our trip and when we arrived our Room door did not had a lock and we were bit uncomfortable and insisted the landlord for a room with lock and were given so. Later when we went to make the payment I was told the room cost is ÂŁ70(Our original booking price was for ÂŁ60) and I was taken aback when asked I was told the room with lock costs ÂŁ70 and owner was aggressive and he kept telling it's a peak season(while I could not see anyother guest) and this is the most reasonable B & B etc .. I ended up paying the extra amount.

Cleanliness is not all that great, you will find dust and Cat hair everywhere including Dining area.
More than cleanliness we were disappointed with owner's attitude and rude behaviour and I would not recommend this place especially if you are allergic to cats.

We have fitted locks to all 3 rooms now, as others have requested this, although we are very relaxed here on the island with low crime rates. If anything serious happens here the ferries are stopped until they're caught :)

We stayed here for a weekend in February. We were unlucky with the weather as it was raining but we had great time and we loved old church house . The room was huge bright and clean. The mattress was a bit too soft but for just a weekend it was OK.
Julie and Gian were very welcoming, they were suggesting places to visit and they asked for what time we wanted our breakfast to be served. Even for the checkout we left around 3 pm and they didn't say anything to us. The location is very central and close to buses travelling around the isle. To conclude the isle was magical and the B&B was great. We will definitely go back there.

We had a night stay in the family room and twin room which were clean and beds were comfy. Host was friendly and helpful. We liked it that the host welcomed us in and make sure everything was fine then left us to our own time. Although if we needed anything we could pop downstairs to find him. For breakfast, we all had English Breakfast as well as some cereals and toast served at side which was good. Most importantly, the location is ideal, 10 minutes walk from Newport bus station. This is definitely a great place to stay at!
