Detailed Reviews
Our stay didn't start perfectly as the keys were missing from the KeyGuard outside... However using the contact number, Sophie was very helpful in organising someone to come and let us in. The room was comfortable but a little stuffy and airless in the hot weather as the windows only open a crack. However, the air-con helped lessen this problem. Sadly, shop alarms, local rowdies and incredibly noisy gulls kept us awake on both nights. The bed was comfortable but the synthetic pillows were rather lumpy. We could have done with more milk and tea sachets and some coffee pods for the Nespresso machine. The toiletries in the bathroom were good but we struggled to drain the bath after showering. Breakfast was simple but okay, and it would have been much improved with better than dull, white sliced bread. A few parking spaces are available just round the corner, but there were no spaces left for us, so we parked on the street. Overall not a bad stay in a quirky but rather run-down venue.

We had an uncomfortable stay here. We came in from an international flight on Christmas Eve to a note on the door saying we should have received a text with checkin info - no text and we couldn’t call on our phone. Talk about a panic moment. Luckily the door had been left unlocked and we went inside to ask at the restaurant, where we found the owner who was nice and helpful. Disappointed with the room. It was large but there were no chairs to sit in, it was poorly lit, it was stuffy and we couldn’t open the windows or get the A/C working, and the shower head was so low that my 6 ft husband and son had to sit in the tub to take a shower. Pillows were lumpy and uncomfortable. Not fun when you’re already jet lagged. Would recommend 2 fans instead of 1, soap for the bathroom sink, a full length mirror, some chairs to sit in to watch tv or relax without having to lay in bed, and having someone to talk to for things we needed, like housekeeping, towels, asking about the A/C unit, etc. There was a phone number to call but it said it was for emergencies. We never saw anyone after the first night of being there. I get it was the holidays, but if you can’t attend to your guests during the holidays, you shouldn’t have any guests. No breakfast was provided on Christmas or Boxing Day, and nothing was open, so we just didn’t eat breakfast for those two days. But we still paid for it. How about leaving some cereal or bread or something? We were there visiting elderly family who were unable to provide food for us, so we were really relying on breakfast being provided by the hotel. There were drunks yelling and screaming outside. The beautiful church bells were pealing on Christmas Eve but were being mocked by these drunkards. Not a very nice family atmosphere. But not the hotel’s fault there. And we loved the beautiful church and the midnight service. We give it 2 stars for at least seeing the owner the first night and thank goodness their restaurant was open that night or we wouldn’t have been able to eat until 1:00 the next day. It was pretty good, too. I guess we were expecting more of a hotel than a bedsit. It should be clearer on their website that it is unattended for the most part. Not what we were looking for or expecting, and it was kind of depressing for Christmas. FYI we are not strangers to the IOW and we know it is quiet in the winter; but we didn’t expect to be completely ignored at our hotel.

The room I stayed in for a week was cozy and decorated in a colorful, quirky style that I really liked. It was clean, the bed was really comfortable, and the room and bathroom were both spacious. There was plenty of cupboard space for my things and an A/C unit that came in really handy, since I'm from a much colder place and not really used to the island weather.
Breakfast was excellent, especially the pancakes, and the chef was very friendly. I keep my hotel rooms clean, so I only wanted housekeeping on one day to stock up on toilet paper and empty the trash etc., and service was great. Everyone on staff that I spoke to was very nice.
The location was great for me as I was on a work trip, it was close to where I needed to go as well as close to the bus station to get to everything else I wanted to see on the island. Great dinner options were also practically everywhere nearby, a shop for all the basics was a two minute walk away, and the church right there on the square is definitely worth a visit. Some reviewers mentioned noise on the square at night, but I didn't find this to be a problem even though there were people spending time outside especially on Friday night, the noise didn't carry all that much.
The only thing I would have wanted in the room is a small fridge of some kind to have some cold drinks on hand, but it's not like my trip was ruined due to a lack of that as the shop was so close.
If you want to stay in a 5 star hotel with someone at your beck and call at all times this is not the place for you, but if you want a clean, hassle-free, nicely located place to sleep in on your island visit, I really do recommend this place. I have nothing bad to say about my stay and will not hesitate to book a room again if I visit the island.

We were due to stay in this place at the end of Oct. We were going to celebrate a 90th birthday. Unfortunately the lady passed before the booked date.
I tried calling the hotel, for days, no answer.
I emailed, no reply.
Seems to me that once they have their money that's it, they don't want to know.
I have read since that other people have had the same experience.
Make sure your booking won't be compromised or you will have the same problem.
Personally I think they have written their own good reviews!!!

I booked up online although I had to cancel due to a family emergency. I have phoned numerous times, probably double figures and email numerous times. I left so many voicemails and no one responds either by phone or email!! What a way to run a business!!

Probably the best value stay in years. Centrally located in the centre of town, so don’t expect tranquility but nothing to disturb your sleep except seagulls. Really pub opposite. Hotel was clean and comfortable and the staff were very friendly with a wealth of local knowledge. Fabulous breakfast with plenty of choice.

We loved the room, it was the family room and massive and had air con, it had loads of space and was very quirky and different with the theme wall and very high ceiling, the beds were also very soft large and comfy and the bath was massive. The breakfast was superb and very good value for money and loads of choice and had a vegetarian full english option.
We loved it and will definitely stay again
