One or two little things need attention as the pool is not open until 10.30 but people swimming at 8.00 which apart from safety aspect could disturb those with rooms near there. Pool bar but glasses used in the pool area, people walking on the edge of the pool with pint glass!
Usually a lifeguard but I saw a child of about 3 years taking solid from the garden and putting it in the pool. All the water affected his bladder and he stood on the edge of the pool. The reception staff of two females is a little slow, but when the man is on alone he is very efficient.
Great stay very enjoyable just needs a few tweaks.
The pool area was lovely, very clean and plenty of sunbeds, the pool was supposed to be heated to 25c, however, it didn't feel like it, it was that cold I didn't bother.
The hotel was situated not far from the main strip, and there was a supermarket just up the road, with everything u needed.
We where room only so we didn't have breakfast included, when we checked in they offered us breakfast, if we booked for the full holiday we would have got it at a discounted price of €6 or €6.50 (can't remember) a day if not then it would be €9 a day, because we didn't know what the breakfast was like (everybody has different tastes) we decided not to the offer. However, next day until we got our bearings we decided to try breakfast, it was absolutely lovely, plenty of choice, buffet style from cereal, fruit, cold meats, pancakes, croissants, bacon, fried eggs, beans, sausage, mushrooms, bread, toast and jams, tea and different coffees, if we had have known it was like that then we would have booked for the whole holiday (I think u should be able to try 1 day then decide)
Then after 3 days of our holiday we went into lockdown with the covid 19 virus. So we asked to be moved to a room with a kitchen, so we where able to stay in our room and cook (my mum has health issues) so I didn't want her going out, there was a man on the reception who said there wasn't anything they could do, then they was a lovely woman next to him who said 'let's see what we can do for u' and because no one was arriving there was a vacant one, and we moved, without an issue, I wanted to personally thank this lady, but I didn't get her name and I never saw her again, because the reception closes, so thank u, very very much, the apartment was very large with a bedroom with 2 beds, a living room with sofa bed, a newly looking kitchen and a walk in shower, however the bathroom hadn't been refurbished like the studios, but still very clean.
I have to praise all the staff during the lockdown, they couldn't do enough for u, nothing was ever any trouble and they where keeping us upto date with everything that was going on via email and letters posted under our doors. The manager even walked round and spoke to all the guests that where left, reassuring us all, thank u.
I will be returning to the island (the 3 days we had was lovely, plenty of nice restaurants and shops) and definatley returning to the surfing colors, thank u very much
Sorry for the long review
Check in staff where very friendly and check in was very quick.
We stayed in a pool view Surfing Dream room which was very modern and super clean. The bed was very comfy and bed linen to an high standard. The room had a kettle, coffee machine and small fridge. The bathroom was ultra modern with a massive shower room and the best pressure shower ever, always had hot water and the towels where thick and excellent quality. There is a TV on the wall but no English speaking channels. There is a fan in the room but no Air-con. There is also a free safe in the room. Wi-fi in the room was hit and miss you needed to go to the bar area for better connection.
We stayed B n B the breakfast is served from 8 TIL 10.30 the food was lovely there is something for every dietary need, the coffee machine is excellent great quality coffee.
The pool area is super clean and plenty of sun bed for everyone, the sun beds are of good quality not those plastic ones. There is a life guard on duty and the big pool is heated to 25 degrees it was lovely. We noticed the life guard on many occasions testing the pool water quality.
The bar did happy hour between 5 and 6 this was very popular. Snacks where available until 3pm.
The hotel is located in old town Corralejo. There are 2 supermarkets within 5 mins and walk into town is 10 mins most it is very flat so easy walking. We tended to turn left out of the hotel and walk towards the coast there is a lovely costal path into town.
We will be back to Corralejo soon and will definitely be staying here and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel.
We left my toddler’s comforter there on the last day and only realised when we got to the airport, he was inconsolable when he realised so we called the hotel and they said it was found but they wouldn’t post it back to us (which I offered to pay for), they said i had to arrange my own courier to collect but the costs were ridiculously expensive for this. It has been discontinued so I can’t even purchase another one. Nothing like some first class customer service after spending in the region of £6k on accommodation and drinks for the week between our group.
Next thing we noticed were the rooms, our first room had two balconies but were a street view so no real views but still very clean with good facilities, including good storage space and cooking facilities. We were given an option to upgrade for 10€ a night, which we took. This option wasn't pushed upon us but instead we had to enquire which was nice. Our second room was also extremely clean, which I was really pleased with as my wife is very fussy about cleanliness. There was no views in the second room either however there was a patio door facing the kids play area which was ideal for our children, which included swings, a slide, seesaw, chalkboard paint on a wall and a climbing wall. There was no iron in the room either.
The maids came to clean 5 days out of 7 (days off on Thursday & Sunday) and done a fantastic job. Very friendly however fresh towels are only replaced 3 times a week and are very small.
There was no drying facilities in our second room or air conditioning which was unfortunate as even in January the average temperature was 20° Celsius.
The double bed was actually 2 single beds combined, which was fine as the kids had the bedroom anyway. My wife and I shared the sofabed which wasn't terrible but only had one pillow.
If you plan on spending alot of time by the pool you have to bring your own towels as the room towels are not allowed in the pool area, which isn't a big deal but is nice to know.
The pool is meant to be 25° however this is something my wife and I still debate over, it does feel colder than the temperature suggests and the kids pool is baltic.
Plenty of loungers, beds and tables and chairs to choose from which can't be reserved which is good.
Bar has a wide selection of drinks to choose from all at very good to reasonable prices depending on your choice. Limited food options which are served only between 11-3 but are all good to great and are reasonably priced. There is a pool table by the water too for entertainment.
Corky the barman, who we had read about in previous reviews, is English but multilingual. He was our saving grace with his recommendations.
In January there isn't much else to do at the hotel however it is out of season and the hotel is located close to all local amenities including harbour, beach, restaurants and bars, cafe's and shops of all varieties.
All the positives in this review far far outweigh our nitpicking negatives however we felt we should share the more negative aspects to help other families prepare better.
The weather in this resort was beautiful every day, particularly considering we are from Scotland.
In conclusion, our trip was cheap, absolutely amazing, totally enjoyable and I would recommend this hotel to absolutely anyone and everyone.
It's €35 extra for a cleaning service of your room - it's not part of the standard service. If you don't pay this, it means towels can only be changed x2 per week and sheets x1. It also means that you are expected to buy your own toilet roll which I think is pretty bizarre for a 'hotel'.
The towels are really small and thin so I recommend to bring your own.
Some members of staff are friendlier than others. Reception not overly helpful, for example when I needed to organise an airport transfer, they just gave me the websites to look up myself. I would have expected a hotel to be more familiar with options and to guide me through the process better.
Breakfast is €9pp. I didn't actually avail of it but the selection of food looked good (Buffett of continental style as well as hot food eggs, bacon etc.)
There is a happy hour between 5pm and 6pm but the staff have no idea how to make proper cocktails, so don’t bother as that way, you can’t be disappointed.
There are numerous tv channels in Spanish, Italian, German and French but not a single channel in English, not even CNN. Why?
The location is good and a 10 walk into the main square. If you have a car, parking is not really a problem even though the hotel does not have car parking. You just park in the local streets.
The breakfast was adequate.
All in all, this is a well run, clean hotel with a good and comfortable atmosphere and we would stay there again.
We went in November and in the room there was a fan which was sufficient however this might not be good during the summer.
The breakfast was okay, some days better than others in terms of quality however lots of choice everyday. Yoghurts, fruit, cereal, eggs, omelet, beans, bacon, pastries, donuts, toast and much more.
We spent a couple of days by the pool which was really clean and a nice temperature. Sun beds were really comfy to lie on and the sun was on the pool majority of the day.
The hotel is in a good location, 5-10 min walk to harbour, 10 min walk to main strip, 30 min walk to start of Volcano and plenty of supermarkets and restaurants almost on the door step.
I would definitely recommend this hotel and stay again
