Lovely agritourism ex olive mill. Set in olive and fruit groves with distant mountain views. Large bedroom, terrace, bathroom with separate shower and bath. Excellent outdoor pool and small indoor. Lovely terraces and all meals taken outside. Good buffet breakfast at which the evening meal had to be ordered. None on Tuesday. Very friendly and helpful staff. Short drive to beaches which we found very crowded.

Couldn’t recommend son mas more for a wonderful relaxing break. The rooms are huge with lovely terraces. The food is delicious. The location is stunning and very close to the sea if you want to swim. 10/10 we absolutely loved it. Don’t hesitate to book!

A really lovely, simple hotel. No, it doesn’t have the hot and cold running staff that you would get in a 5 star hotel and occasionally you have to seek out a drink or a towel for the pool. However the rooms are really lovely, the pool has the best setting imaginable and the food is good, all for a very reasonable cost.

We spent a weekend as a couple at Son Mas and there was nothing else to ask for! The location and set-up of the hotel offers you the quietness you are looking for and if you dont want to, you don‘t run into other guests - we never felt bothered and appreciated the distance between tables during all meals - 100 percent privacy! Rooms are excellent and very clean! Staff is very nice - wishes fulfilled without making you feel bad! One of the highlights might be the pool with great views and enough shade and quietness. Overall a fantastic experience!

We spent two nights in October at Son Mas’ (4*) in Porto Cristo and we were all in all disappointed. - a few positive points : . Beautiful finca, nicely renovated , huge volumes, smart decoration, . Peaceful remote countryside. - many weak points : . Poor privacy The TV of our neighbor was on from the afternoon until late at night during all our stay. It spoiled all the character of the (large and nice) room. We asked for quietness and did not expect such a poor quality of sound isolation. We could also hear the footsteps of the occupants of the rooms in the upper level. . indoor swimming pool not heated as boasted on the website (and that for 3 days). It was one of our criteria to prefer this finca to another one in the area. . No path to walk a little bit in this huge property in the middle of nothing : this is really a pity because the agricultural land around is gorgeous but nothing is arranged to facilitate the discovery for those who want to learn a little bit about the daily life and the development projects of this very interesting area. . Bad and expensive (15 €/ person) lunch. We requested in advance for having an early lunch before our departure. Nothing had been really prepared and no cook at this time . We had a salad (1/4 avocado, a few small tomatoes, many green leaves) and 45 minutes later (why?) tortillas from the breakfast that were not enough for two of us. . Toilet of the restaurant : I do not describe…. . Finca Hotel Son Mas knows how to build a website with nice photos suggesting an exclusive and authentic experience, and charge accordingly. However the customer experience is far from this 4*, and the care of the staff is rather impersonal . Just before we had a longer stay at another 4*Finca in Soller, which was far better and cheaper.

From meeting Ingmar at reception right through to the check out it was a wonderful stay. My wife and I use this type of boutique hotel all the time as our preference and Son Mas is up with the best of them. A huge junior suite as standard, massive comfy bed give the feeling of space and quiet, with lovely staff (big hello to Ingmar, Cynthia and Mercedes) Breakfast; ample, varied and the cooked-to-order part was done very well, every single day. Dinner; We took the half board, but be warned, do not have snacks before dinner because the portions are huge. We are proper foodies, so the cooking can be comfortably rated as good bistro standard with a touch of flair. It's very good value but not where quantity is at the expense of quality, the quality was good. The wine list is very well priced indeed but the by-the-glass options are too limited. Grounds; just so open, so calm and superbly kept. It's a beautiful site to walk around (sunset at the infinity pool, overlooking countryside is blissful) and the farm house main building is elegant and inviting. COVID; well done one and all, perfect. My wife is in the 'clinically extremely vulnerable' group and we both felt totally at ease. Beaches; so close and easy to get to, all of them with ample parking, at least at this time of year (1st week October). We are planning to be back next October instead of our usual trip to the Caribbean. Less mosquitoes here, 8 hours door-to-door (Son Mas to North London, yes really!) and no jet lag.

We are sitting in the courtyard having had our fourth breakfast at this beautiful, peaceful, incredibly well thought-out, meticulously designed and decorated hotel. We love this place for its beauty both inside and out, tranquility and stillness. The staff are simply kind and friendly. This is not the place to expect ever-present and obsequious staff, but just ask if you need anything at all.

Beautiful buildings and surroundings, very spacious suites with large bathrooms, lovely pool and huge beautiful and tranquil surroundings. But, the food at dinner was somewhat hit and miss - overcooked hake and sole - but perfectly prepared cod. The salmon and rabbit were equally huge and uninteresting. Overall, poor value for money and not really what you expect from an expensive 4 star hotel. Our other negative was an absence of the warm welcome one gets from an owner managed hotel. But if solitude is what you want, it is perfect and my comment may possibly be influenced by hard times in a Covid-afflicted September.

We recently stayed at this hotel for a six day stint we had been looking forward to for ages. I’ll start with the positive: beautiful rooms, exceptionally quiet (almost monastic) surroundings including a stunning pool. The breakfast was lovely and provided by three exceptionally helpful ladies. In every other sense however, this hotel was significantly below the calibre of what I would have expected and paid for frankly. On arrival, we were checked in and told the restaurant would be closed the following day (unusually, a Tuesday) so we would have to find some other place to do both lunch and dinner. There was no offer of help to book anywhere else, no suggestion as to where else we could go. We also arrived too late to have dinner that evening (8.15pm) as you need to order your dinner the preceding morning. We had to push to get the names of a restaurant we might be able to go to and were told that for the best one of these we would have needed a reservation - again, no offer to help us book this. We were shown to our room, which as I’ve said was lovely. At this point we were not given any suggestions for any activities, beaches, tips for the area, told about bikes we could take out, spa treatments, or given any kind of tour of the hotel. We were not even told there was a basic number to call reception on for any kind of service - essential as it turns out as there is essentially absolutely no one offering any kind of service either by the pool or on the terrace between meals. We were willing to assume this was because it was a bit later (8.30pm) by this point and would get a better introduction the following day. No such luck. The following day I wandered back into reception to try to get some tips about good beaches they would recommend and to find out about spa treatments. I met the person I believe is the owner after repeatedly saying hello into the kitchen (reception was empty), who barely took the time of day to introduce herself and give us a proper welcome. I honestly felt like she wanted to end the conversation as quickly as possible. Determined to polite and enjoy my holiday, I ploughed on and asked about booking a massage (which I had the following day and was lovely). Again, there had been no guidance on when / how we should do this until I asked about it. What is so frustrating is this could all be so easily remedied. It is a very small hotel with little or nothing to do other than lie by the pool. That could actually be wonderful if we’d just been given a proper check in with some guidance about how to order things and a bit more / any advice on things to do in the area. As it is, we were pretty disappointed and can not recommend this to anyone given the price point.

Response from Inma D, Directora at Son Mas Hotel Rural
Responded 8 Sep 2019
Dear Ms. Laura C. Thank you very much for your review. I am truly sorry to read that we have not been able to fulfill your expectations. Normally upon arrival of our clients, we make a tour to show where is the restaurant, indoor pool, gym, etc. also we ask if you wish to have dinner in our restaurant and inform you that the kitchen is open until 10:00 pm, also that the restaurant is closed on tuesday. Of course we´re glad to recommed some restaurants nearby, if the client requiry it or other information like, beaches or excursions. The reception is from 09:00 until 21:00 open. Unfortunable I did not have the oportunity to speak with you only a few minutes at the hall, where did you ask me to book a massage which I booked for the next day with your approval. We would like to apologize if your experience was not as pleasant as you expected and we remain at your entire disposal for anything you may require.

We came here for a weeks holiday in August and the standards where very high. The rooms are big and spacious with a wide bathroom including a separate bath and shower with a large basin. The pool is a very big 20 meters long, roughly 8m wide and up to 2.10m in depth. For breakfast there’s a small buffet to choose from but you can also ask for the kitchen to make you eggs or omelettes. For dinner there’s a menu that differs everyday which you can choose from in advance, the waiter and waitresses were brilliant and take note of when you arrive and prepare your food asap without you having to do anything. There’s also an indoor pool and a gym but the gym isn’t air conditioned and is very small with not very much equipment. Very good hotel; Good service, friendly staff, quiet, relaxing and a spacious hotel. My only comments for improvement would be the gym would benefit from an upgrade and the supply of complimentary drinking water in the room. Definitely would return again.
