As we arrived a little early to check into our room, the folk on reception suggested we take a few minutes to go and see the lunchtime performance by the children from the Monastery's choir school. We were so glad we did - we were offered, as a result, a very different welcome and introduction to anywhere else I've ever stayed, really. Our first floor room was very comfortable (would have been nice to have had curtains it though), a good choice of food from the in house restaurant or (even better) the restaurant just outside the monastery itself. A very interesting museum and, all-in-all just a fascinating place to explore. I was actually glad, for once, I wasn't walking a long distance route and didn't have to move on the next day, but had time instead to just relax and get to know the surroundings a little more. Definitely do not miss the walk to the top of the mountain behind the monastery for the views.

The two staff we met were both miserable (perhaps because end of season) and the walk around the gardens was a waste of time as all overgrown and unkept. The only high point was the very short, may be ten minutes maximum, performance in the Basilica by the choristers.

Dear Indignant, Thank you very much for your comment. We regret not finding what I was looking for in Lluc. We have had two very strong storms in a month that have damaged the garden quite a bit. We will pass your comment to the manager of the private company, outside the Sanctuary, which have parking, museum, botanical garden. a cordial greeting Come back soon and stay at our hostel

Stayed here for one night whilst walking the GR221. An interesting option providing basic, comfortable accommodation. A range of food options on site. Unfortunately the pool wasn't open due to 'no life guard'. Fine for a night.

I have visited Lluc monastery many times when on my bike and stopped for a drink in the cafe. This was the first time I ever ventured in and so glad that I did. I was with my wife and we parked up and bought the combined parking and entrance ticket which was only €10 for both of us and the parking. Great value. If you plan on visiting other places you can buy a multi visit ticket which saves you even more. Inside the monastery there is a great little museum charting the history of the school and monastery as well as Mallorcan history. The small basilica is very beautiful with the famous black Madonna statue as well as some amazing images. There is a cafe, gift shop and some beautiful gardens. Well worth a trip up the mountain to these amazing monastery. Would definitely recommend.
