Hotel Rocamarina appears to be a favored choice for its commendable service, even if there are occasional lapses during busy periods. The amenities, including a variety of dining options and a prime location near beaches and shops, receive positive marks despite some feedback about the pool being overcrowded and the decor feeling a bit tired. Guests have called out the hotel for maintaining a high level of cleanliness throughout, with special mentions for the spotless rooms.
While the overall atmosphere is valued for its tranquility and traditional vibe, the entertainment could use an update, and some find the room furnishings outdated. Noise can be an issue for some visitors, with disturbances reported from both inside and outside the hotel. Despite this, many consider the Rocamarina to offer good value, though a few point out that drinks and extra services can come at a premium.

We visited Hotel Rocamarina, as a couple, from 6th to 13th May 2024. This was our fourth stay over the last 12 years, we stayed on a half board basis, in a standard, twin room. We were delighted to see there has been very little change since our last visit, making the Rocamarina an excellent choice of hotel for adults wishing to enjoy a peaceful break, with delicious food, good service and superb cleanliness. The well maintained, interior decorations and furnishings were the same, with fine white linen on the dining room tables at both meal times. A taste of luxury these days when paper napkins and unstable, canteen style tables are the norm. It will be a sad day if the hotel management ever decide to refurbish the hotel. We were allocated a quiet room, at our request, it over looked the internal garden and was perfect for us. It did get a little sun, early in the morning but that’s all. We had an issue with the safe at the start but it was speedily sorted by the technician within the hour. The use of the safe is free. As previously mentioned, nothing has changed in the standard twin bedroom we had, apart from the new furnishings. The rooms were cleaned to a very high standard daily. There are plenty of electrical sockets, clothes hangers, drawers, toiletries and the tea/coffee making facilities are replenished daily.
The wall mounted tv has a variety of channels in Spanish, English, German. On the subject of TVs, we were disappointed to see the huge tv in the tv room was not working. We asked if we were able to view some football on Sky as in previous stays but were advised it was no longer available. There were a couple of bars not too far away that showed football matches and other sports but always busy. There is a good selection of food provided at meal times. It is of a good quality with much of it being homemade or home grown from the hotel owner’s farm. The breads, pastries and preserves are the best I’ve ever tasted. The service in the restaurant is impeccable. We did use the pool bar at lunch time a couple of times and were happy with the prices, food quality and service. The evening entertainment was generally good, some acts better than others but then we all have different tastes. The drinks prices were slightly more than you would pay in a bar in town but that would be expected. There is no longer entertainment provided during the day which suited us. The hotel now has a more quiet ambience than when it was once a TUI Gold hotel with bingo, quizzes and games. Some daytime noise does come from a neighbouring hotel that seems fit to induce their clientele into an hysterical frenzy! This is usually in the afternoon. The pool, which we used daily was clean and of a good temperature, the sun beds were in a good condition and comfortable and the pool towels are provided free of charge. If you are looking for a unique, Majorcan hotel experience, then Hotel Rocamarina is the place to go. A touch of class and sincerity and a taste of how holidays used to be!

I'll start with the negatives: This large hotel is 3 storeys high, so it can be a bit of a long walk from the lifts to your room. So if you have mobility issues, request when booking, a room close to the lifts. The hotel doesn't do "all inclusive" so you pay for all your drinks, however there are supermarkets near by. Cala D'or doesn't have much going on, however, if its a quiet relaxing holiday you're after, this is the place to go. Myself and my wife have a combined age of 120, and its fair to say we have been to many hotels over the years. We both agree that the food in this hotel ( we were half board), was the best we have ever tried. The staff, each and everyone, were beyond friendly and Cristina made us smile anytime she can to take our order. The rooms were roomy and spotless and the guests (adults only) were varied and pleasant. The pool is a long one and was a pleasure to take extended hassle free swims every day. The pool area doesn't open until 9am so no stampedes for sun loungers. If fact there are secondary quiet sun areas other than the pool and there always seemed to loungers spare. Also too, this is a TUI hotel so a rep (the lovely Sara) was in attendance to answer any queries and take a booking to go and see the dolphins. All together a wonderful mega chilled out holiday, if you love good food, this is the hotel for you. Many thanks XXX

This was our 3rd visit and our previous 2 were fantastic and this time though enjoyable wasn’t up to the previous visits. The hotel as always though a little dated (except for the new reception desk area which has been nicely modernised) was spotless and a credit to the housekeeping team who deserves a special mention for descending on the pool area after overnight rain left it very sand stained and working their socks off to clean all sun beds and surfaces before going on to start their normal room routines! The food was plentiful and varied enough for us to find our fill most nights but the new system of room cards displayed on the table for all meals needs explaining on the welcome literature correctly which states take down for first night and not for every meal, being basically told off in front of other diners and being sent to fetch the card from our room on the 2nd night was very annoying and took a lot of effort to not retaliate with something I may have regretted later and we saw many other diners also being sent off to retrieve cards mid meal! The mix of ages was good but does tend to be more on the more mature side and this years evening entertainment reflected that which was not as varied as previous years. Last year we were there with building work being carried out to turn the tennis court area into a new restaurant and pool area which we were looking forward to investigating and thought would be tied in to the hotel as an alternative area but this wasn’t so, it was to our understanding a separate entity and though beautiful with its infinity pool and Balinese beds and sun loungers it wasn’t worth the extra €100 or €45 for 8 hrs use depending on which type of sun lounger you used even though you did get €40 or €20 of that back to spend in the restaurant which had a very limited menu, the free pool area, garden or solarium were just fine with no shortage of space. This had become our want to get away to the sunshine but can’t make our mind up where to go choice but not sure if it will be in the future even though we still love the Cala D’Or area.

Nice clean hotel although slightly dated. The housekeeping staff were lovely and a credit to the hotel, nothing too much bother. You are given a table to sit at for each meal, not popular with some but we actually quite liked it as you knew where you were sitting. Food is of a decent quality and plenty choice. Only gripe was the waiting staff are meant to come to your table for drinks but quite often we were waiting ages, at times on our dessert before being served. Sometimes you are charged straight away and other times they would bring the drinks and someone else would come later for payment, all a bit weird. We had folks in the next room who set their phone alarm at 6am every day and would never switch it off!!! It would go on for 40 minutes. The vibration would come right through the wall. We did complain but nothing changed. The stampede for the hotel pool is quite comical. (never seen pensioners move so fast!) some laying out many towels and then clearing off to get their breakfast. Hotel policy is you can remove towels that have been sitting longer than 30 minutes. We just went to the beach to avoid any hassle which is a two minute walk away. Building works were minimal last week and didn't bother us although to the side of the hotel there is a builders dumping ground with forklifts and dumper trunks coming in and out which was our partial view from the balcony. We were out most of the day so this didn't bother us too much either. Noises started around 8am and finished at tea time. Due to the inconsiderate people in the next room and their phone alarm we were always up and awake anyway. I would go back to this hotel and hope for better neighbours.

First impressions weren't great and could so easily be rectified, which is a shame. Arrived at 1.30am, check in was easy and friendly but we were only offered some savory biscuits and an apple even though we had missed dinner. Not really a viable alternative especially since I am gluten free! The decor in the reception and lobby is sooo dated. They are still (proudly) displaying their Thompson Gold awards from the year dot. Someone needs to tell them that these are really not relevant now and they need to update the dark decor and make it much more modern. Painting the dark furniture, replacing the outdated sofa's and repainting the whole area wouldn't cost a fortune but would make such a difference. The rooms are a really good size with everything you need (apart from a kettle) but again a little dated. The fitted furniture is of good quality and everything is very clean. The service, food and staff are a real credit to the Rocamarina. Great choice of food throughout with meats and fish cooked to order at the evening buffet. The pool area is well maintained and there are loads of sunbeds, albeit some are in the garden area which is a little further from the pool. Beach is a very short walk and discounted sunbeds can be purchased from the hotel reception. The beach bar is really good and reasonably priced. Cala d'Or marina is a shortish walk and makes a nice stroll in the evenings. Overall we really enjoyed our stay: no kids, really quiet, comfortable beds, great food and service - if only they would update the signage, reception and decor this review would be 5 stars!

We stayed in Rocamarina for one as a hotel option after a Marella cruise. We booked it because of the Adult Only option. The room was lovely and perfectly looked after by the housekeeping staff. Reception staff were fantastic. We were half board and food for breakfast and evening dinner was gorgeous, again the restaurant staff were fabulous. However I do have some things that weren’t so good. This is the first restaurant/dinning room where table water at least wasn’t offered at dinner. For a half board option I had expected that - maybe that’s my fault. Also the Adult Only option was our main issue, if you are thinking of booking this hotel be mindful the vast majority of the guests here are 75+ and this is who are catered for. This means the poolside is totally silent, no music, ambiance just silence. Even the TV in your room is set on a specific sound level. If this is what you’re looking for you’ll have a great stay here, but if you think Adults Only means over 18 no kids but still lots of stuff going on (like we did) this is not the place for you.

The hotel is very well furnished and in excellent condition. The rooms are comfortable and have everything you need including very comfortable beds, fridge and kettle. The staff work hard to clean the rooms every day to a high standard. The outside areas are very nice too. Lovely pool and surrounding area with sunbeds and a grassed area with beds too if you wanted to be away from the pool. There’s also a sun terrace with beds on the first floor with steps down to the pool. The quality of the beds and umbrellas are good too. The bar staff worked hard to keep everyone served and there were 14 in our party but Kristina was top class in looking after us all. She’s a great asset to the hotel. Such a lovely pleasant young woman. The restaurant was the best I’ve had. Great consistent food with lots of choice every day. It’s ran by Renata with military precision and worked like clockwork. One of our party has a severe nut allergy and Renata was just priceless in making sure we were aware of what he could and couldn’t eat. She made sure he had his own bread every mealtime so no knives that had been used on a bread he couldn’t have had touched it. This is the first time he’d been away without his parents and it was a big worry for them. Renata made sure he was looked after and kept away from anything potentially fatal to him. She is a fantastic asset to the hotel. Our only criticism of the restaurant is the early breakfast finishing time. 10am is a bit early to close the doors so some of our party didn’t bother with breakfast on a few days of our 10 day trip. Overall the hotel is great for a relaxing time especially with it being adults only. The evening entertainment was excellent too and that’s not normally something I hang around for. In relation to the area the hotel is actually in Cala Egos, which is about 30 minutes walk away from the centre of Cala D’Or. It’s a nice walk though around a lovely marina lined with cafés and restaurants. At the centre you’ll find a lot more going on. More little streets with shops, bars and restaurants and a much bigger beach than at Cala Egos. To be honest though I wouldn’t go back to that area. The hotel and area are perfect if you want a nice relaxing holiday and I’d highly recommend the hotel and area. I can’t sit still though on my holidays and need mountains and trails to explore running. Nothing to suit me there but I did really enjoy my 10 days. If I could pick that hotel and staff up and put them in the south east of Menorca then I’d stay there every time.

Be warned! There is still ongoing building work at this hotel. We had read reviews saying it was coming to an end just before our visit on 26/6, which was not the case. We endured 8 days of angle grinding, drilling, hammering and dust; with heavy construction vehicles, including cranes, also on site. The hotel said the holiday companies were responsible for informing their clients. There was nothing on the hotel website about the ongoing construction; and no apology for the inconvenience caused, which we felt was poor. Unfortunately we had not been made aware before our visit, so recommend you get an update before you go. Essentially if you are looking for a quiet and relaxing break this was not the place to visit this year. The new beach bar / restaurant with infinity pool will be lovely, once completed, but is currently a blot on the site between the hotel and the small beach in front. We heard noise from 8am to 7pm every day, including weekends. If you have booked an upgrade to a sea-view room, you will actually have paid extra for a view of the building site and will be nearer the noise! Unfortunately although we have lots of video it can’t be uploaded. That said there are positives. The hotel is clean, restaurant staff and maid service very friendly and helpful and there is a good choice of buffet food. The pool water is the cleanest we’ve experienced in years, although the sun-beds are quite worn and tired. In summary it is not what we consider to be a 4 star hotel for this day and age but is in a great location. Cala D’Or is a fabulous resort and the hotel is in easy walking distance from the marina (7mins) and centre (25mins).

We’ve just returned from 4 nights at the Rocamarina and it’s been perfect. The adults only aspect of the hotel makes it really peaceful.
Food is great at breakfast and dinner. It’s actually one of the only hotels I’ve stayed in in Europe that has a chef cooking fresh omelettes and meat of an evening at your request too.
We were 3 adults travelling together and the room even with three of us was spacious, we never felt cramped and the balcony was one of the bigger I’ve had in a hotel. The hotel was also spotless throughout and there are plenty of sunbeds, we never had an issue finding one round the pool but there is also a grassy area with sunloungers too.
The hotel is actually in Cala Egos about a 10 minute walk to Cala D’or Marina or a 10 minute taxi into the very centre of Cala D’or however this was no issue for us. We actually preferred the area the hotel is in as it was quieter and the beach was much prettier and quieter. There is bars, supermarkets and restaurants within a 5 minute walk of the hotel too.
The hotel also owns the beach bar down at the beach and that’s lovely. The building work has also stopped now and the beach club that is being built there will be beautiful when it opens.
Overall the hotel was perfect for what we wanted and I can see why many reviews say people have returned multiple times. We’ll be back!

Adult only with mostly older guests. Beautiful views from patio area overlooking pool, beach club and down to the beach and sea. Breakfast good with omelette/fried egg station, English style sausages. Dinner this was where could have fish/meat cooked to order. First place I’ve been abroad where included English style dessert amongst the very varied range. Apple crumble, custard, bread and butter pudding etc. could not fault food at all. Good air conditioning and didn’t need to use key cards for the electricity. Beds comfortable. Free safe included in room, tea and coffee provided and there was bottle water on arrival. After that we brought water at the Spar shop close by. Negatives, sunbeds a bit close together, if someone put their parasol up it could put you in the shade. Although a nice small sunbathing area on first floor roof terrace with quality sunbeds. Entertainment could be better for a 4 star, but sometimes was good. Real niggle was the way you had to pay for drinks during your dinner. Never before in any hotel have I had to stop eating to get my purse out to pay for my water. I don’t understand why they don’t ask you to pay at the beginning before you eat soon as you order or add it to your room or ask you to pay at the end of the meal. It feels like they think you’re going to run out without paying. Considering you can’t sit down without putting your room/board details card down on the table ( if you forget it you are not allowed in restaurant) they can see your room number so it should be easy to resolve this. You pay tourist tax on arrival and can extend room until 2pm/4/6/8. We paid 48 euros to extend room checkout until 6pm. It is also cheaper to pay for your beach sunbeds and parasol at hotel rather than paying man on beach. 12 euros for 2 beds and a parasol. Beach bar lovely and food good there too. I would consider going back there as amazing views, beach lovely, marina nice to visit and food extremely good but couldn’t give it 5/5 because being refused entry to restaurant for forgetting card and the obsession with paying immediately during dinner for drinks was annoying
