Hotel Cala Ferrera is often recognized for its excellent value, with many guests appreciating its proximity to the beach and local amenities despite noting the rooms could benefit from modernization and additional conveniences such as fridges. The atmosphere is frequently described as delightful and family-friendly, supported by a close-knit staff known for their warmth, though service consistency has room for improvement.
While the hotel's cleanliness receives high marks, some visitors suggest an upgrade to amenities and a refresh of the decor to enhance the overall experience.

Detailed Reviews
We arrived after 11pm and they had made up plates of salad for us and we were allowed an A/C drink from bar even though it had closed to all inc guests at 11pm but you can pay till bar closes at midnight, good start. Room was on side with sea view but we were never woken up by the dreaded bin wagon that other guests had complained about as we were on the other side of the hotel. It looked as if our room had recently been renovated, new bathroom with a lovely walk in shower with 2 heads, a rain forest and a normal shower head which was powerful and did not lose heat. Plenty of sun beds and pool nice but was always cold but I put that down to it being shaded by hotel by mid afternoon. Hotel spotless, the staff do a great job keeping it clean and tidy. Maids in everyday and they really did keep room clean, had fresh towels everyday as well, even though on the info given out it says towels every two days. The outlook to this hotel is amazing the beach is on your doorstep about 50 yards away that you can reach from path at rear of hotel, there is also steps down from the opposite side that you can go directly into the sea and snorkel. The staff were polite, even though they hadn’t had a day off in the past 5 weeks and they did work very hard but that’s down to staffing levels. There was no entertainment at all while we were there, they were trying to replace the lad who had left in early August and there was nothing on in the evening so we went out every night. The food was very much hit and miss but the chef done the best he could with the resources he had available, you could always find something to eat even if it just tided you over till you went out and had something more substantial. The marina is worth the walk as it’s stunning best time to go is when it was just starting to go dark as it lights up and it looks amazing. Lots of restaurants down there but a bit pricey but if your after something special it’s a lovely night out. There’s a Chinese restaurant down there as well which is good value for money, they do a special that’s 3 course and you do get a lot of choice and it’s only 10.99 euro each. The square is also a good night out, plenty of restaurants and bars, especially if your into your cocktails loads of bars offering them, average price for a meal is about 20 euros and a spirit and mixer in bars is 6 euro. Plenty of areas on the walk from hotel to square where there is go karts, trampolines, etc for small kids but not much for teenagers. Boat trips go from right outside the hotel and are a good price as your out most of the day we went on the one to Cala Mondrago, what a beach, the water is crystal clear and it’s like swimming in the Caribbean, well worth the 25 euro. I would go back to hotel but only if I heard that the food had got better, that’s the only thing that let it down in our book but if your just B and B I would recommend it, but don’t go there with the expectation of grand

A really lovely friendly hotel. Good for families. Thought I’d have to rent a fan but had air con in the room which was a massive bonus. Staff were so lovely and had no negative comments to make on them. Food was good except for my fussy vegetarian daughter but that was more on her not what was available. Pool was nice and never had a problem getting a sun lounger but could be due to the pandemic. Rooms were basic but had what we needed. When we arrived there were bunk beds but my children were 16 and 12 so not suitable but it was not a problem to get them changed. They changed them for single beds which were much better. Wish I had paid the extra for a seafront room so I could watch the sunrise from the balcony. The entertainment man had my children laughing everyday. He was so good at interacting with everyone and had my children involved in some activities which is not an easy task.
Very close to the beach which was sandy and the waters so clear you can see the fish swimming. Could hire sun loungers for the day which had a safe to put your valuables in. Could also rent paddle boards and pedlow boats. The hotel were up to date with COVID rules. Hand sanitiser everywhere, masks to be worn inside at all times. As soon as you got up someone was wiping down your table etc. We went for a walk into the centre but there wasn’t much else open which was a shame.

The views are stunning from the hotel across the sea and beautiful little coves. Very near to beach, you just walk down a few steps from the hotel. Safe swimming waters, didn't seem to be any currant, lot's of people jump off the rocks into the clear waters below. You can hire paddle boards from the beach and pedalos.
The hotel itself is quite dated although clean, it just needs re-decorating and modernisation. All inclusive isn't really all inclusive. You have to pay extra for straws if you want one and the staff will not allow you to fill your own water bottle up with water, they insist on doing this for you? And don't even think you can fill your own bottle up with a soft drink because you'll get charged €4 extra. This annoyed me a bit because I didn't really drink much alcohol and only had a few soft drinks, not like I was filling up 2ltr bottles every day.
The food is basic, and there's not alot of selection. However it was hot and tasty. If you like fish that's even better. Just don't be expected to be wowed at the selection. But I'm just used to a bigger variety from other hotels, so that's just me. Food is continuously being bought out when it runs out, and the staff are very efficient and friendly.
The bedrooms are again basic, but clean and the air conditioning works great. If you're British there are 5 or 6 English channels to choose from if you want to watch TV. The shower pressure is excellent and the water is hot. Again bedrooms need touching up. The cleaners are very friendly and do a great job too.
There's plenty to do in the surrounding area. Lot's of shops, restaurants and pubs. Kids entertainment area too with go-karts, bouncy castle, and more. The bus stop is just round the corner as well as bicycle, car and motorbike hire.
Didn't get too bothered by mosquitos, but spray some citronella on anyway. If you like cats, that's great there's a couple that hang around the hotel that like treats 🥰.
Entertainment ok not the best but its better than nothing. You have to pay a tax at the hotel which works out to about £13.00. There isn't anyone advertising excursions so you're better off organising this before you come. There is one boat trip that goes from the beach called Starfish though, that looks good.
All in all a good holiday, if I was to come again I would probably do self catering. But I felt the staff were helpful and friendly, especially Maria in the poolside bar.

Hotel's Favourite
Glad I stayed and didn't listen to all reviews on here, not sure if me and my partner got lucky but for a younger couple we loved this hotel and would come back and stay! We stayed in room 501 which had the nicest views, rooms are basic but they are clean and comfortable. Lucky no smells like other reviews have mentioned but maybe that was the location of our room. All staff were super lovely to us, I was nervous due to again other reviews but I think they just all work hard and do their best. We loved the evening entertainment and even won the music Quiz. The location honestly couldn't be better.. a lovely easy 15 min walk to the main town but plenty of shops, bars and restaurants about a 2 min walk. Beach is so close and beautiful, we swam every day and it was again 2 minutes back to our room. There's a lot of negative reviews but I don't understand how unless you are use to butler and maid service!! but for sunshine, good memories and a blissful holiday, I would come back! :)

This is my fourth visit after an abortive visit las year for obvious reasons. I’m retired so the 10 days self isolation on my return is well worth the hassle. This year the rooms are upgraded and have aircon and so it is really great value for singletons like me or couples/families. It’s a bit strange this year as I appear to be one of the few people from Uk, but everyone walks around with grins under their masks. Feel really safe as everyone is strict with social distancing and mask wearing. I love food and the hotel chef doesn’t disappoint with a varied Spanish take on the buffet. Plenty of choice to satisfy most and staff really good and making sure your happy. The entertainment in the evening is just kicking off after a hiatus due to covid but children’s disco etc getting into the swing. Reception is always manned and will sort out everything from more towels to batteries for the remote. Tv is limited but not here to watch tv! The view onto what I would describe as a mini fiord is stunning and, although I don’t use it, the pool is fine. I snorkel in and around after hiring a car from Hiper, really cheap from the airport and roads are good and empty. A big shout out to Louis and Juan and all the staff who make this my favourite hotel (already booked for 2022!) you must drink their 1ltr jugs of Sangria mmmmmmmmm

I’ve stayed in many gorgeous hotels around the world and paid a fortune for them and many times been disappointed with something along the way! So when my friend said should we go away a few days for my birthday we said not somewhere expensive! So we booked here at Cala Ferrera!
I’d been to Cala dor years ago and knew were this hotel was located and how close it was to the amenities so I ignored the reviews because we just wanted something near the beach and clean which was exactly what we got!
We upgraded in booking to sea view room and went half board, when we got to the room and opened the blind we could not believe the view it was one of the best I’ve ever had! Stunning turquoise splattered sea. The room was basic but immaculately clean.
We had breakfast every morning which was basic but lovely but we never stayed for evening meal because we were only there 4 nights and wanted to make the most of being out and about!
The beach was stunning and a 2 minute walk away, with sun beds to hire for 7 euros each a day and with a lovely beach bar across the beach you were set for the day!
The staff were so friendly especially our cleaner and the dark haired gentleman in reception who was so lovely and helpful.
We loved it so much we have booked again for May while we were there!
This hotel is basic clean in a great location and stunning views! So perfect for a get away to relax and unwind.

When we booked this hotel, the pictures of the views and the ‘Lagoon’ looked amazing and the travel companies sell them as it’s all part of the deal……….it’s not!
The hotel was very basic and considering it was all inclusive, by the time we left the reception area on check in we were already €150 out of pocket…..local taxes per person, safe in the room, deposit for the key for the safe, air conditioning……the list went on.
Our balcony overlooked the side aspect and was on the first floor directly above the goods entrance. Every morning, 7:30am onwards you had the staff outside having a good old time, including cigarette breaks making noise….along with the deliveries that happened regularly. So even on a nice relaxing break, we had no chance of a ‘lay in, of any kind.
The view from the hotel to the Lagoon was amazing, this was the one plus point, and access was easy enough. But don’t be fooled, it has nothing to do with the hotel and the access to the Sandy beach area is via the Barcelona potent Plays next door. The sun beds, belong to the Barcelo, and therefore you are limited to the sand. You will notice the amount of parasols on sale and being carried around……you will notice why at the beach. If you want a drink, the prices the Barcelo wish to charge for non-guests is nothing short of extortionate.
The Food for the all inclusive package was what I can only describe as diabolical. There weren’t any descriptions other than a daily menu posted at the door of the restaurant which gave little to no information. All you had were pictures of with a pig, cow, chicken or fish. You had to guess the rest. Even if there was a Spanish description, it would have been better and any version of google translate could of helped. Very seconfpd day it seemed a dish appeared where they had used the left overs from the previous days and made a ‘pasta dish’ with a mixture of fish of meat, my daughter who is 9years old seemed to live on undercooked chips and bread rolls.
When we ordered something different for her such as chicken nuggets, they arrived and were cold in the middle. We ate out more than in, as it was that bad.
No entertainment. I am being harsh, we had one night, then the person who did the kids discos and music LEFT his employment and wasn’t replaced. When we asked about the entertainment we were told there wasn’t any with a shrug of the shoulders.
Overall, the view was nice, the weather was great, but a poor hotel and rude staff generally, left a bad taste in our mouths which even oversdphadowed the awful tasting food.
Would NOT RECOMMEND, there are befitted hotels in Cala Gran and Cala Mondrago with exceptional views and scenery.

We booked this hotel in order to stay somewhere close to one of the beautiful coves along the coastline and also for having near to swim and snorkel in the sea, and that’s exactly what we got! The hotel is located right next to the sea with a beautiful view over the crystal clear turquoise water. Right down the hotel there is great cliffs to either jump from, or you can get in the sea by using any of the ladders that is along the cove wall. You can also, which most people did, walk about 50 meters to the left from the hotel, to get to the Cala Ferrera beach which also is really beautiful!
The hotel itself is of older style, but still fresh. We got our room cleaned every day but didn’t get new bed sheets (which I read in a review that someone else got) but we only stayed for four nights tho so we didn’t expect that anyway. The beds is like almost every Spanish hotel - hard- but we slept good anyway. Recommend sleeping with earplugs since it’s quite thin walls and you can’t really close the window thing in the room and therefore you may here noise from outside.
The breakfast was good. There was a couple of restaurants near the hotel in Cala Ferrera but I recommend keep walking up to Cala D’or to get more restaurants to choose from and boutiques to shop/look in. I really recommend staying here if you want to relax and have wonderful swims and snorkeling in the ocean.

This hotel is awful. If you are under 40 years old this hotel is not for you. The guests made us group of girls feel very uncomfortable. We were constantly given dirty looks and made to feel like we didnt belong here. A guest on the 5th floor threw water at us whilst we were outside the front having a conversation with other guests. The hotel didnt deal with our complaint appropriately and we left feeling highly dissatisfied. The food is awful it was cold and not fresh. The drinks are watered down and although there are plenty of drinks on the menu half of them they didnt have. The snack bar only served salad, chips and nuggets which were constantly cold. Charlie the night receptionist was rude dissmisive and unhelpful when we tried to complain. The only good thing about this hotel is the amazing views and beautiful beaches which are close by. Cala dor is a beautiful place but this hotel is awful. The beds are rock hard it's like sleeping on the floor and no fridges are in the room. The rooms are dated and the decor is terrible. Children dont seem to be accepted here and guest seems to be annoyed with young children. I would never return to this hotel but will definitely be back to cala dor.

This was our first stay at the hotel as a family party of seven, two classed as children (13 & 17). We booked 4 rooms for one week. 3 of the rooms had side Cala views with glimpses of the sea, while the single room had no view only buildings. That said, we didn't pay extra for views so were genuinely surprised how good the views were from the balconies of three of the rooms.
The air conditioning in all rooms was both quiet and excellent, required for the whole week with daytime temperatures of 39-40c. No complaints about the rooms or the furnishings, with a good shower over the bath and a flat screen tv having various UK channels. The rooms were cleaned daily and were spotless.
The hotels location would be difficult to better, having direct access to the beautiful Cala Ferrera from platforms for entry and ladders for egress. The beach itself was less than 50 metres away, again accessible from the hotel by a path alongside the Cala. Unlike some hotels, we didn't find there to be any sunbed wars with some availability whenever you arrived in the pool area. The Starfish and other pleasure boats also dock adjacent to the hotel for the more adventurous.
The hotel staff were all hardworking and friendly, having meet most during our All Inclusive (AI) stay. For us, the AI was the disappointment of the holiday, although you could always find something to eat or drink. If you are a fan of the continental breakfast and like cold meats, cheese and salads for other meals you will have little to complain about. On the other hand, the limited choice for other diners may be a disappointment, as it was for us. Choice of drink was also limited for AI being essentially local spirits that I've found OK in the past but on this occasion tasteless and dark rum (my favourite) none existent. The beer was ok but the only way to get a decent cocktail was to pay for it. The issue of AI food and drink is probably common to many three and four star establishments, although we are probably spoiled by the three star hotels that we normally frequent.
I contacted the hotel about suitability for the disabled traveller and was advised there were no rooms that could be reached without a lift. There was also no easy access to the pool and pool bar area that didn't involve stairs, so on this occasion we journeyed without my father.
Would we stay at Cala Ferrera again? Yes, on a room only basis.
