We have just returned from a 13-day stay at Cala d'or Gardens. Upon arrival we had to wait a while because the room was not ready yet (between 1:30 PM and 2:00 PM) we could enter our room. Our room was cleaned every day (hang a card on your door when you leave). We had booked half board, which only includes breakfast + dinner, but you have to pay for your drinks for the entire day (including breakfast and dinner). You can request an upgrade at reception for €10 per adult per day & €5 per day for children extra for the all-inclusive package. Because we had rented a car for 13 days, we chose to eat outside. There are numerous restaurants in Cala d'or where the food is excellent. We had dinner once at Cala d'or Gardens, but we didn't like it (much one-sided and a lot of English food).

If you like to lie by the pool, it is a good idea to set your alarm for 6:30 AM, otherwise all the beds at the pool have already been "taken". We have not had a bed at the pool in the morning in all those 13 days because people are too stingy to put towels as early as possible and not use them (seen enough). Maybe a tip for the hotel, that's how they do it in other countries too... if you're not there for an hour and a half, take away the towels.

The only disadvantage we found is that everything has salt water... your shower, tap in the bathroom (brushing teeth with salt water), swimming pool, everything is salt... so buy enough bottled water!

All in all, we had a wonderful stay. Air conditioning worked well, beds weren't too bad! I will definitely recommend it for families, our daughter thoroughly enjoyed it (also the shows in the evenings), with Romy as her favorite! Animation really does a great job.

It is advisable to rent a car if you book a holiday at Cala d'or gardens because you are not close to the town of Cala d'or... walking is quite a distance. If you only rent a car upon arrival, you will pay extra per day, so forewarned counts for two

If you rent a car, the Caves of Drach are definitely worth it! Beautiful

Currently here now at Cala d’or Gardens and I must admit I was so nervous about coming after reading the reviews but I honestly worried over nothing. The hotel room is yes a bit dated and basic but clean and has everything you need air con, fridge, shower, patio/balcony etc also towels are replaced daily, can’t really expect much more for a 3 star hotel so pleasantly surprised.
The pools are lovely and big and clean with plenty of beds brollys can be a bit harder to get if you’re not early enough but then again we are here during a heatwave. The big pools don’t allow floaties which is a bit of a downer but kiddies are allowed small rubber rings if they can’t swim or a bit less confident, it is salt water so get some goggles! The splash park is great for kids and floaties are allowed in this pool there is also a bar there so you dont have to walk all the way back to the main bar, one thing about the splash pool however is that beds are limited so you have to be early. The guidelines state that the pool is open 10-6 but we have been in the pool before 9 and there are people in it until late so I think it’s just that it is only supervised by lifeguards between 10-6.
The food this is what worried me the most as people were really moaning about the food on the reviews but I have to say we have really enjoyed the food. Plenty of options and if your a really fussy eater there is always bread, chips, pasta and pizza every lunch and dinner so you won’t go hungry, also between breakfast and lunch and lunch and dinner the snack bar is open in the main restaurant which has burgers hot dogs chips and pizza, I have to say the burgers are delicious!! Breakfast is also good with everything you would want cereal, pancakes, eggs and bacon etc.
This hotel is also in a perfect location as literally 2 minutes up the road there is a shopping centre with lots of shops restaurants and bars even a nightclub if you like to party! Also there is a beautiful little cove beach about 5 minutes walk if that yea it’s small but so pretty the slightly bigger beach is also only 10 minute walk or you can get a cab to the main beach for about 5euros.
The entertainment is pretty basic but the entertainment staff really do try hard and it is no where near as bad as all the reviews say it is all I can think is that the people who wrote all the bad reviews are extremely snobbish and expect to get champagne for lemonade money.
So if you want a nice cheap family getaway then this hotel is perfect please don’t believe all the bad reviews it really isn’t that bad just remember it is a 3 star hotel so don’t expect 5 star luxury and you will have a great time.

We’ve just come back from Majorca and stayed at this hotel for a week. While there were a few negatives that I will go into, there was many positives too. I will start with the positives… the food was nice, lots of variety, although I agree with lots of previous comments about it being catered towards the holiday makers (mainly germans), it would have been nice to have a taste of the local cuisine! Breakfast was my favourite, you could have a full English, there was also dry cereal, fresh fruit, yogurt and continental options, including croissants and other pastries, pancakes (which my little girl loved!) and fried eggs. Dinner time and tea time consisted of various meats, fish, sides and there was always salad, fruit, ham and cheeses available. Desserts were a bit strange in my opinion (definitely not of English nature), but enjoyable and plenty of other choice like yoghurt and fruit as well as icecream. Also burgers/hotdogs and chips throughout the day being offered, which was great on our last day before we left as was out of meal times.
The complex itself was very appealing, fairly clean and maintained, large pool areas and a private kids water park just over the road exclusive of the hotel, although anyone could walk in as the lock mechanism didn’t work that only allowed room keys to gain entry. Entertainment was ok, my little girl enjoyed the kids ‘disco’ which was on for half an hour every night, apart from the Saturday, however she doesn’t take much entertaining as she’s only 1! The ‘adult’ entertainment which was on after, wasn’t very imaginative. However you could see the amount of effort that went into the production from the entertainers, they seemed like a lovely enthusiastic bunch, however we usually left after the kids disco and went for a walk or something. The atmosphere was rather dull on the evening, perhaps an English/German divide? I think there was only a couple of English families that were there when we were. Nothing against other nationalities but let’s just say the non-English people could come across as very rude and impolite, no fault of the hotel of course!
Now the bad…
We were put up a flight of stairs of the hotel with no lift, this wasn’t ideal with a 1 year old, who isn’t walking and needs to be carried. The pram up and down the stairs multiple times a day was hard work. Also, more of an issue was we got put in a room with no bath, so we had to wash our baby in the shower between our legs… very dangerous. The shower leaked all over the floor and the shower head didn’t stay upright either. We didn’t have a plug for our sink either and asked for one numerous times and was told it would be sorted, along with the shower issues but it never was, we gave up asking in the end.
All in all it’s a good hotel for a family with lots of potential, needs some TLC with the rooms and some lifts installed, seeing as though it’s advertised as family friendly. Not sure we would stay again though.

The hotel needs a complete renovation. The staff is not interested in the guests at all and doesn't even look at you. Service is not good. Breakfast until 10 is nonsense. The rooms are cleared away at 9:45 and the staff are happy when the guests have left. At 10 o'clock sharp the lights are turned off, a clear signal to "please leave now". I have rarely experienced such inhospitality. The room (superior) was rancid. There was practically no space, but there were a few creepy crawlies that we pushed out. The (tap) water is salty. If you like it... there is rust on the fittings, and the cleanliness is mediocre. No bed linen changed in 6 days. The beach can only be reached from the neighboring hotel and the beach is tiny. Pictures online and on the hotel's own website are completely unrealistic.
All in all, not recommended.

Arrived last Friday with my wife and 2 children (7yrs and 1yr) … literally couldn’t swing a cat in our family room. The room itself was grotty, there were ants in our bathroom (around the sink) and in the main bedroom underneath the travel cot that had been laid out for our youngest; needless to say she was never going to sleep in it after that point. The bathroom had old peeling stickers on the door and the mirror was wearing round the sides making me feel like it was older than I am. I have a high tolerance for most things and can always see the positives but honestly - not here.
We attempted the pool and splash park as we’d promised our 7yr old that that’s the first thing we would do when we arrived away to be greeted with dirty sunbeds that looked like they were never cleaned, awful. The pool water was (I think) sea water so really salty and freezing cold.
Then it continues… we purposely booked an all inclusive for the endless ice lollies that would no doubt be requested by our 7yr old to be told that they didn’t do ice lollies and the closest thing was ice cream but that was only available between 4pm and 5pm?!! Speechless.
Went to get an all inclusive drink… told we needed to give them a euro everyday to release a glass in which we had to look after and return at the end of the day…again… just no.
This holiday wasn’t cheap and something we’d been looking forward to for some time like everyone does but after one day and one long night in our dingy room we swiftly made the decision that this wasn’t fit for the kids (or us!) and moved on.
To top it off after requesting something like a kettle in with to sterilise our daughters bottles we were told no and were given no advice on how we could maybe work around this. One receptionist in particular went as far as to be sarcastic about it and I’ve never been spoken to like that in any hotel or shop or professional premises in my life.
Wouldn’t recommend and the photos online look nothing like reality. All round awful experience.

We had a wonderful holiday in an excellent hotel that caters to families.

The rooms are thoroughly cleaned every day and fresh towels are provided if necessary.

We had booked an All-In and the formula they use works perfectly. There are (alcoholic) drinks available throughout the day (10:00-23:00).

The food is buffet style and varies daily. In addition, snacks are also available throughout the day.

There is one general bar that is not too crowded, even in high season. At the children's area, which is separate, there is a separate bar.

Where we stayed it was somewhat noisy at night, but this has not negatively affected our experience. The beds were comfortable.

All in all we had a very successful holiday and the value for money is excellent.

Positive:
- children's pool is great (note: the large paddling pool with slides is a 1-minute walk from the main pool, which also has a small paddling pool)
- The large swimming pool is also great for swimming
- more than enough sunbeds and space available around both swimming pools
- very varied and extensive buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner
- friendly staff
- Beautiful bay/beach nearby
- Dutch spoken at reception
- All (alcoholic) drinks are included (except spirits)
- air conditioning works well
- nice large balcony in the room

Room for improvement:
- many smokers
- noisy rooms
- nuisance from evening entertainment. Sometimes goes on until 11pm and can be heard from several resorts at the same time
- low water pressure in shower
- old building, which gives it character, but is also poorly insulated
- bad pillows on the beds
- Dinner from half past six. That's too late for little children.
- Snacks consist of hamburger or fries. No healthy options.
- Room at the front of the resort is very noisy and you can hear every bus and airport pick-up (at all times of the night) loud and clear.

So I thought a little bit before writing a review on this hotel, there are elements that could be easily improved upon as in there are areas of the hotel that look a little warn and a little maintenance or investment wouldn’t go a miss. However what does stand out is the staff are really hardworking and all of those that I encountered have a positive attitude towards their guests and are very helpful. I noticed a couple of not great reviews on here please ignore a holiday is what you make it, if people compare it to 5 star resorts that they have stayed in the past that’s just not fair. This is a 3 star resort with 4 star service from the staff. The children who stay here all love it and have a great time! The splash park at the rear of the hotel my 5 year old absolutely loved. The food is good, not amazing but lots of quality on offer for the budget that it is. I’ve been lucky to stay at the odd 5 star myself and can tell you the salad bar items, bread selection, pasta station and desserts are no lesser from here than they are at those supposedly greater resorts. We ate out a couple of times but that’s just what we do when we are away and not because of any lack of quality.

We stayed spontaneously for 5 days at Calimera Fido Garden, and were satisfied so far.
The pool area is very nice and well maintained, especially pleasant is that you get a lounger stress-free.

There is a lot to offer for families, both during the day and in the evening.

Rooms have been cleaned daily and are functional.

The restaurant is also simply equipped, it is nice that the
Possibility to have breakfast or dinner outside.

Buffet is rich in the morning as well as in the evening, some food was in the evening
Unfortunately only lukewarm.

Only negative experience, was on a pool day the unfriendly staff.

The pool is usable by the vacationer until 18:00, at 17:40 our parasol is simply closed, although we were still using the sunbed, then a barrier cord is literally pulled in front of our face. I then approached the not too friendly lady and made her aware that it was not yet 18:00h, reaction, annoyed look and Spanish conversion with the colleague, does not want to know what was said.

In general, the staff was very friendly, especially noteworthy the reception staff.

All in all we had 5 lovely days.
