Having booked in another hotel in Cala d'Or, we had the unpleasant surprise of seeing that our reservation was not taken into account (overbooking?), and the hotel management put us up in the hotel. calador for one night. We know this hotel well because we stayed there a few years ago. At the time it was a three star, now a 4 star. And it’s true that everything has changed: it’s a mix of luxury and tranquility. At reception we had a very warm welcome despite our late arrival. There no one accompanied us to our room (the 120 of memory). Very nice room with perfect bedding, Only flaw: the air conditioning was very noisy. We half-opened our window and fell asleep to the sound of the waves. The breakfast was excellent with several coffee machines (bean grinders) scattered in several places in the room (ideal for avoiding queuing). The fruit juice was fresh, the cold meats worthy of a French hotel, all in absolute calm. You can eat inside with air conditioning or outside. In short, it was excellent. I cannot judge the rest of the hotel because we returned to our original hotel (comment to come…) The Calador Hotel is a 4 star and frankly it deserves it. We will stay at this hotel again. Rating: 18/20

Hotel Cala D’or is something very special. It is a welcoming and tranquil hotel in a beautiful location with stunning views of Cala Petita beach and the sea beyond.
We stayed for a week at the end of July and had an amazing time. The hotel is so clean and the rooms are tastefully decorated in light colours with very comfortable beds and good quality linen and towels. Efficient air conditioning kept everywhere comfortable.
Breakfast has a great selection of good quality food and the made to order omelettes are delicious.
The pool bar and outdoor areas have lovely views and sun loungers were readily available. It’s easy to access Cala Petita beach from a private gate, where the sea is clean, calm and lovely to swim in.
Hotel staff are all polite and helpful - we had one minor hiccup with our power and it was rectified within minutes of us telling them.
Location wise it is ideally situated for a short walk to either the marina or town, where there are a variety of restaurants to choose from, but it is far enough away from both to not be disturbed by noise.
I would recommend the side sea view rooms so that you can enjoy the stunning views from your own room.
We will definitely be returning!

I have stayed at this hotel a number of years. Thankyou again to all the staff. Everyone has always been very friendly and it's clear many people return here to do the same year after year. The hotel is kept exceptionally clean, fresh and has a great location. The hotels historical history is interesting too where it was one of the first buildings constructed in Cala D'or. The hotel is modern but they have kept a traditional feel & vibe with the Ibiza white style which Cala D'or is known for, amongst the vivid green pine trees and turquoise waters. The hotels well kept grounds offer amazing garden views/sea views to Cala Petita Beach & Es Forti. It is quiet and relaxing but only a few minutes walk to the centre of Cala D'or. Recently I have only had the option to book b&b rather than half board when the upstairs restaurant has been closed during the summer. I initially missed not having the option of half board but I have enjoyed the change as you can visit the hotel's own beach bar Cala Petita which offers a quality range of drinks & food. They also hold music events regularly with bands/dj's every so often. There are also many great restaurants/cafes/bars nearby too for during the day/night. Aswell as the beach bar, the hotels pool bar also offers great food such as pizza's, pasta's, burgers, sandwiches etc. The breakfast is amazing with a choice of cereals, hot food, drinks, fruit, cakes & pastries. All the staff are always on the go. They make a real effort to keep everything running smoothly and people happy. Muchas gracias todos! :-)

Dear S874TFjamies, It is we who must express our gratitude to you for having entrusted us with your holiday in the past, as well as for doing so now, which shows your trustworthiness and satisfaction. In addition, as on other occasions, you have told us how your stay went, which we would also like to thank you for. From what we read, you did not miss the unavoidable visits to Cala Petita or the beautiful views of the sea. You also enjoyed the peacefulness in the gardens. What's more, although you initially regretted not being able to use the half-board option, you ended up considering it an advantage, as you could discover the interesting and delicious menu at the beach bar and the appetising snacks at the pool bar. So, seeing your fabulous attitude to unexpected situations, we would like to thank you. On the other hand, we must convey to you the great appreciation and gratitude felt by the staff for your generous words, which encourage them to continue to do their best to make your stay a memorable one. Once again, we would like to thank you, because there is no better reward than to see you come back. Waiting for you again at your home in Mallorca, we send you our warmest regards from Cala Petita. Hotel Cala d'Or.

Just back from a heavenly week at the adults only Hotel Cala D'Or. Set right beside the small cove beach, Cala Pieta and withing a 5 minute walk to shops and restaurants, the hotel was an oasis of calm. Stylish decor throughout and a stunning large split level dining room overlooking the beach where we enjoyed their extensive buffet breakfast every morning which included breads and cakes of all descriptions, every fresh fruit you can imagine along with a cooked option with your eggs of choice cooked as requested. There are four options for poolside relaxing, from the four poster beds to the loungers directly overlooking the beach or the beside the pool, where drinks and fresh bar food are served throughout the day. Our comfortable room was overlooking the sea, so that was a bonus and all of the staff we dealt with were motre than pleasant and professional. The hotel provides daily giuded excursions on public transport and also Yoga sessions and massage facilities. A girl comes around each day to top up your mini bar, but we did think that it would be helpful if there was a printed price list of all the drinks. A big thank you to Carlos, who went out of his way to ensure we got the perfect room and advised us throughout our stay. I would highly reccomend this hotel if you appreciate a peacefull stylish environment with the friendliest of staff. Agnes - Ireland.

However, we are certain of having the best guests on the island, who reach our hearts with their friendliness, kindness, and appreciation. That said, even if it is obvious, it is us who would like to thank you for choosing us to host you during your visit to Mallorca. In the same way, Carlos thanks you for remembering him with affection and reciprocates with a warm greeting and a note of how nice it was to contribute to your fabulous holiday. Very well-run hotel (4 stars) with a beautiful location, both for Cala Petita and the town. Own large pool, pool bar. In September almost all the rooms in the hotel, including the restaurant, were cooled down to refrigerator temperature. Terrible! We had a room where the cooling system blew directly over the bed. Huge terrace, but only one sunbed. The hotel is permanently occupied by a British tour operator, almost exclusively for British guests. You should know. Although only British, the sun loungers were reserved with towels at 8 a.m. before breakfast. Good breakfast, half board sometimes a little poor in quality, e.g. soups that were very watery. In general: having soup on the menu at 35 degrees, well, yes. Maybe the air conditioning blowing everywhere should make up for everything? Service staff very friendly, ditto reception. Overall, highly recommended for anyone who just wants to swim. Otherwise, Cala d'Or is a artificial town with a food mile, drinking bars and a long shopping street where there is a lot of junk.

We booked a sea view room, upon arrival we were informed that we had been ‘upgraded’. So once we were shown to our room it was a little underwhelming, the rooms although quite modern are fairly basic and the sea view, literally turned out to be a view of the sea through a bunch of trees, so once again it was also underwhelming. The staff were amazing from the off, nothing was too much hassle and any request was carried out without fuss. The hotel pool could’ve been cleaner and the beach is very small and gets extremely busy. However, we had some amazing evening swims when it started to quieten down. The hotels location was ideal, with a short walk to the hustle and bustle of Cala D’or and the marina was around a ten minute walk away. Parking is located over the street and a safety deposit box will set you back €2 a day.

Amazing hotel!! We stayed for 4 nights to have a nice relaxing beach holiday and this was perfect place to stay. The room was great with comfy beds and had everything you need. The only small downside was having to pay 2 euros a day for a kettle which I think should be free and available on request, however that’s not the end of the world as it’s a small price. The hotel has a great pool and bar which overlooks the beach which is amazing. You can use the gate which has a passcode to quickly go down whilst leaving your stuff safe in the room or by the pool. The beach is lovely with blue shallow waters and not overcrowded. There is also food by the pool and a beach bar that serves great food. We had bed and breakfast and breakfast has everything you could want. We thought this was best way to do it as we could go out in the evening to all the lovely restaurants near by. The location of the hotel is perfect to walk into the centre and to the marina. Would highly recommend staying here!!

Dear 5t3phani3, We read with deep satisfaction we exceeded your expectations regarding the location and the breathtaking views from the hotel. As well as the full breakfasts, which gave you the boost of vitality you needed to have a great time in the beautiful cove and by the pool. Furthermore, you didn't want to miss out on the experience of strolling by the sea, nor did you forget to sample some of the dishes in the nearby cosy restaurants. All this tells us you had a wonderful stay, and we thank you for publishing it on this website. We would also like to thank you for making us your accommodation during your visit to Mallorca and for your recommendation, both of which we greatly appreciate. With the earnest desire to welcome you on another occasion, we send you our affectionate regards. Hotel Cala d'Or.

Just got back from this wonderful hotel. Booked a "side sea view " room and was more than happy with the view from the balcony. Never got tired of the beautiful boats sailing in and out of the marina. Had read some negative reviews prior to our trip but was pleasantly surprised. For example many people commented about having to pay for the use of the safe, ours was included in the price. Maybe they've upgraded them? The food was delicious and varied. The young ladies make the best omelettes we've ever had! The beach can get a bit busy but there's ways room and what an absolutely beautiful beach it is. The town is literally a couple of minutes walk and there's such a variety of great restaurants to try. We read that some found some of the staff members a bit severe but this was not our experience at all. A smile goes a long way and we found them all to be extremely polite and helpful. All in all a great place to visit.

Dear Z5106NApaule, We are very happy to hear you were not swayed by some negative comments. We thank you for the trust you have placed in us. For us, your comments of support and appreciation are extremely valuable, because they prove what we read is not always true. Likewise, as you note, we listen to our guests' suggestions because we want you to have a fabulous holiday. On the other hand, the staff would like to express their gratitude for the wonderful feedback about their kindness and hard work. Especially because they go out of their way to make guests feel at ease, and they get upset when some visitors do not take this into account. Waiting for you with a view of the sea, we send you our warmest regards. Hotel Cala d'Or.

My wife and I have just returned from a weeks holiday at the Hotel Cala D’or. This is the first trip advisor review that we have ever written but we felt compelled to do so. On arrival we were shown to our room which had a lovely view of the hotel pool and the Cala D’or bay. The room was small and dated and the bathroom was extremely cramped also there was no facilities to make a tea or coffee . After unpacking we tried to put our belongings in the safe but realised that it required a card to activate it so we went to reception. At the reception we were told that we would have to pay €2.00 a day to hire a kettle and €2.00 a day for the safe. We were totally surprised with the reply about the safe and we pointed out that it not only protected us against theft but it also protected the hotel, but they wouldn’t wave this cost which we thought it very mean and an extra way of making money out of their guests. The dining room was very clean with a fabulous view of the sea. The breakfasts were very good with plenty of choice, but the evening meals were dreadful. We only had water with our evening meal because we were never in the restaurant long enough to order a bottle of wine. One evening we went to the dessert buffet only to find that our table had been cleared on our return. The waitress apologised and we asked them to replace the bottle of water, which they did but proceeded to charge us again for it. The restaurant was never busy and the fist night of our holiday we were the only two people in there — perhaps tells you something. The pool deck was very nice with a good terrace snack bar. When checking out we were given our bill and on it we charged for things out of the mini bar we hadn’t had and again for the bottle of water! My wife and I are fortunate enough to have several holidays a year, but overall we felt that our visit to the Hotel Cala D’or was not value for the money we paid, and needless to say we will not be returning.

It’s less than 5 minutes to get to the main centre where there are lots of restaurants.I haven’t eaten in the hotel restaurant but I’ve heard it’s very good and there’s a place just outside the hotel on the beach for lunch.I think the hotel is in an excellent location and nice and quiet.
Hope this helps.

It is definitely adults only now, however I would email the hotel to get a view on a 14 year old. I’ve stayed at Hotel Cala D’Or on many occasions and it really is excellent. Superb position on a small beach, it’s quiet with shades of old Majorca. Pool is really nice, great Beach bar and pleasant restaurant. If age is allowed, it’s worth it.
Hi as answered by some but just to add smart casual is the only dress code so very relaxed but no vest tops or shorts.
The menu is A la carte and Is set but there are choices. This was the case just last month (May 19). The hotel has now introduced a new meal plan option so you can have half board for part of your stay (3 days).
The Gym is decently stocked is small but adequate for holiday use.
The hotel are very good at answering questions in English so drop them an email. I cannot remember the sun bed cost on the beach but as this is run by the hotel reception can provide the answer.
The beach is a public beach and it seems to be under used so plenty of room.
Email Evonne she is quite happy to answer questions and is a very helpful lady.
I hope this posting helps.
