This parador is an absolute disgrace and an insult to the "parador" brand image. We have visited (and stayed in) 16 paradores over the past decade and this one is for sure the worst of the whole lot. OK, I admit the building from the outside is impressive (especially at night). It is perfectly located and surrounded by magnificient architecture and you (somewhat) feel part of history but just enter the place, walk in and you will feel like you landed in an abondoned spot. We had a suite with 2 rooms while this was advertised as a junior suite and found it useless as we expected a larger room with comfortable seating. Views towards the square on one side and the little inside garden with its own fountain were pleasant but that is about it. Dated bathroom, old (very old) mattress (we could not sleep for 3 nights), unefficient air con so we had to leave our windows opened with dozens of flies coming in as a result. The whole place was constatntly filled with flies, I still wonder why. Common areas were a joke. What a pity such a (potentially) beautiful place was not properly furnished. And that tiny outer courtyard where we sat, waiting to be served some fresh drinks for 20 minutes before leaving the place as no staff seemed to care about us. Why on earth do they all give the impression that you are disturbing them ? And breakfast ! Would be perfect for a one star hostal in the middle of nowhere but far, far, far under Pardores standards (horrible service, limited selection of items, never refilled so we felt like they could not care less). All this in a gloomy little place with a noisy fridge and no one to welcome us or collect dirty plates ! Sorry, I can't find no excuse. I understand some hotels are better than others but this Parador lives on its past. It is time for a massive revamping (staff attitude - except front desk), overall layout of common areas, breakfast, rooms, well everything really...). A nice architecture in the middle of a beautiful environment doesnot make it all, I am afraid.

Arriving on a day of intense heat to a cool and slightly darkened room was so pleasant. The building and location is stunning. The reception staff, the restaurant staff, housekeeping staff were all super friendly, professional and helpful. We ate in the restaurant both nights as the food was really good. Wifi was also fast which meant I could do some work easily. We loved it - one of my best parador experiences- we will be back.

The Parador is very beautiful and i want to be effusive but find that i just can't. This is probably because i booked a deluxe double with balcony or terrace and was given a room for disabled people with no balcony and no terrace and no explanation, no apology and no reduction in price was offered. The bar service was non-existent when we needed service. The minibar doesn't even have a bottle of water and virtually no offerings. The Parador is very convenient for the beautiful town of Ubeda and would have had much warmer feelings about the place if i didn't feel that i was not given what i paid for.

In simple terms excellent. Wonderful service and friendly staff in all areas. Attention to hygiene and safety re Covid was exceptional. The food in the restaurant was not far from Michelin star in our opinion. Would certainly recommend. Yes it's not cheap for a room but you are paying for a stay in a beautiful building. Go for one of the garden rooms....very romantic. Prices in the restaurant were surprisingly moderate. Treat yourself.....
