Perfect for families, fabulous food and pool areas, amazing staff. Rooms are spotless, spacious and air conditioned, with minibar stocked and cleaned daily. Lacco Ameno is beautiful and other parts of the island are easily accessible by bus. Free shuttle to the beach that runs all day until late at night😊

Hotel up in a hill in Lacco Ameno district. The hotel has been estensively renovated in most of The areas. A big thermal swimming pool and 2 little ones. Wide spaces and a nice SPA. A beautiful view and a lot of space. The hotel has a peculiar attention for families with children: ie lot of screaming italian boys and girls. Personnel at restaurAnt very professional and Kind, especially The maitre and Mr Nello. The only problem is food quality: almost everything was freezed and not well cooked for a 4 stars hotel... even breakfast had lots of food supplies but not always fresh baked.
We will come back if food quality and cooking will improve

We spent 8 days in June 2013 with our daughter (3ys) and grannies. The final impression is very positive. The hotel is a pleasant structure located just above Lacco Ameno, 1,3 km of a steep road. On one hand, it is a pleasure (quietness, fantastic sunsets!), on the other you have to know that you cannot reach the sea or the village just walking. I couldn't try the SPA treatments, but the impression I had from my wife and grannies is positive. Here is my list of plus and minus.
PLUS: kids will be enthusiastic about the hotel premises. The facilities (outside park, swimming pool, miniclub) will make their days! The staff taking care of kids is nice and professional. Rooms are large, pleasant and clean. Generally speaking, the hotel staff is very polite and well trained (waiters, reception desk, barmen). There is a free shuttle running from the hotel to the beach and the village, always on time (taxi are more expensive than in Tokyo...).
MINUS: frankly speaking, you are entitled to expect great food in southern Italy. Breakfast: delicious pastries and cakes, no fresh fruit (on summer time, something you woul really like to have). Dinner: below expectations. Very interesting appetizers buffet, but main dishes not up to the level you would expect. On some circumstances, fish was simply too bad. For our convenience, we had a la carte lunch on few occasions and I must say that we had been positivelly surprised, much superior quality than in the evening.
I would strongly recommend this hotel to families, less so to pure gourmand! I would definitelly stay there again.

Nice outside, hall and pool and a very good food but the rooms are really poor. Be careful it's far away from the sea side. Better the sea side rooms (fantastic view).

I went with my teen-age daughter who lived it and my friends who had young boys. We had a great time, the kids were so happy playing, they felt safe, the moms got to relax in spa and pool. It was one of the most cleanest hotels I have been to with friendly accommodating staff. We had very picky eaters with different age groups, they managed to make all of us happy any time of day. Finally, it was lovely to see the owners around the hotel actively involved, they truly care. Happy to feel their warmth in their great customer service. Can't wait to go back. Thank you :)

We stayed here recently and on almost every score it is an excellent hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We were the only English speaking guests and they had the evening dinner menu translated each evening just for us. We stayed half board. The evening dinners were very good and we had to restrain ourselves from making beasts of ourselves. There are two 'terme' pools and a big swimming pool so no need to visit any of the big Termes. Lacco Ameno is a real living village and though the hotel is about a kilometre up a very steep hill from the village the hotel provides a shuttle bus so the village is easily accessible. We had no children but the facilities for children. One slight nerdy caveat. The Wifi was not great but it was free and this is true of almost every hotel we have stayed in in recent years. Please hotels will you realise WiFi is as important now as TV in a room. This is just a great hotel and I thoroughly recommend it.

I stayed at this hotel last year and am surprised there is only 1 review. I went alone with my 2 children and this hotel went out of its way to be helpful. Its true, my first room was a little basic but quite large (3 beds)and for the price we paid it was exceptionally good value overall. The food, although not 'fine dining' is above average. I often ate simple pasta with fresh tomatoes, then fish, or a piece of grilled meat. I avoided the heavy buffet as I prefer simpler things. Breakfast again was a little basic but it was enough for us, plus they did eggs for my son. The only downside to the dining was that we were squashed onto a table in the corner with no view. The pools were great, the new spa was really 5 star. I had 2 hours every day with Michaela who really gave me wonderful treatments, although I am not sure you could expect this if you were on a budget package. Obviously there is not a lot to do at the hotel with kids, but the hotel found me a babysitter for a couple of hours everyday. Then we went to the wonderful beach nearby (shuttle provided) or to Lacco Ameno. Once my husband arrived for the weekend, we changed to the newly finished 'Suite' and had room service for lunch a couple of times. We hired a car and visited some beautiful places including the Gardens of Poseidon and a few local restaurants for dinner. Another thing, this hotel had wonderful views all round and a drink on the terrace was very pleasurable. All in all, I had a lovely week, and would go again. However, I always like to try new places so will give it a miss this year but would like to say hello to the charming Iacono family.

Not sure where Helen140890 was staying as I am currently staying at the Michelangelo and it bears no resemblance to the one she describes. The hotel is lovely both inside and out.The food is very good and in plentiful supply: why she ate veal at every meal, I don’t know as there is a choice of 4 dishes at each course for each meal with some spectacular pasta and fish dishes. My room, though small (not the hotel’s fault, but the fault of Voyage Privé) is clean, comfortable, air conditioned and quiet. The hotel staff are friendly and helpful and, as a woman on her own, have made me feel very much at home. Staying at the Michelangelo has offered the full Italian experience.

We were put into this hotel by our tour company, Voyage Prive and the local supplier Sunlux Viaggi/Red carpet Ischia. We were informed this was to be a 4* “luxury, gorgeous hotel”. This was VERY far from the truth. We are a couple in our late 20s, well-travelled to many “luxury” hotels. This is a 1* hotel at best, it may not even get any stars really.

Now what can I say that is positive?

1. Cleanliness of the rooms was good. Good clean every day, no fresh bedding but a fresh bath towel every day.
2. Large sized room, fridge to store drinks in. Decent enough hairdryer. Nice view from the balcony.
3. Shuttle bus to Lacco Ameno and the beach, although, it’s telling to say one of the best things about the hotel was the ability to leave it!
4. Pool area outside is ok, plenty of sun beds. Pools themselves are ok too.

Now here comes the negatives....

1. The absolute number 1 worst thing is the food. Sadly, we only had the option to go full board. Most people come to Italy for fresh pasta, pizza, delicious flavours. Well, the food can only be described as something you’d get in an old people’s home or 90s school dinners. Bland. Unimaginative. If you are a vegetarian I hope you like omelettes, as that’s all you will get. As a meat eater, you can eat a dry piece of veal every lunch and dinner! I am pretty sure the chef has lost all will to live, as he or she produces such poor food each meal. Breakfast is the same every day too. Also, get down early to get anything remotely decent from the buffet, no refills happen and it runs out in the first 20mins. It’s a sad thing to say bland arancini balls and croquet potatoes are the highlight of the buffet. Also everything on the buffet is cold. A huge array of over cooked vegetables that are cold is your only option if late to dinner. Moral of the story, don’t eat here.

2. The hotel has some outrageous policies. No iron is provided in the room, if you need anything ironing it will cost you €3-8 per item. If you want a dry pool towel it’ll cost you €2 per towel, apparently for environment reasons, but they replace the hotel room towels every day even if you hang them up? And as for a robe? A whopping €15 for a week rental!!!!!!! Further, drinks prices are vastly overpriced particularly spirits (€12 per spirit plus the cost of a mixer). The good news is the hotels own very watery terrible house wine is €9 per bottle. So down a couple bottles of those and things might seem better.

3. Be warned Italian hospitality and manners does not exist, this is probably not the hotels fault per se but cultural - but do be prepared to be ignored, or receive rudeness from staff. Also bring google translate, this is a must as most guests here are Italian so the staff don’t speak much English.

4. the hotel decor is very outdated. Our room decor is terrible. I dare not sit on the “sofa” which looks like something out of a soft play area. The beds are rock solid. Balcony only fits 1 person. The hotel hasn’t had any changes probably in about 20 years.... probably why the clientele are old aged pensioners....

5. The entertainment, well, its what I’d imagine would be in an old people’s home. Enough said on that.

Do not let this put you off Ischia island itself which is beautiful- but just don’t stay here.

We stayed here in August 2014 and received a wonderful warm welcome from all the staff, who work 24/7 to keep their customers happy from early morning to late at night. The hotel is in a quiet area overlooking the sea with beaches & shops closeby. Our air conditioned room was apart from immaculately clean, bright & modern with stylish furniture and had a very comfortable bed, a big terrace and a mini bar filled with delicious juices. Everything else the hotel has on offer is of exceptional high quality, the food is simply amazing (pasta with shellfish, freshly grilled fish, the vegetal buffet is a great meal all on its own!) and it is difficult to resist eating too much! The Spa offers a huge range of fabulous beauty treatments and the swimmingpools are filled with warm water from the Therme and certainly create an instant feeling of immense wellbeing....... In addition to all this the hotel had organised a number of shows featuring famous Italian comedians and musicians giving a unique cultural flavour to this holiday at no extra costs! The sunsets seen from the terrace are breathtaking, needless to say, we did not want to leave and are planning to go back as soon as later this autumn!
