The Vedic Yoga Centre is a peaceful place, with clean and modern rooms, a great location next to the Ganga river, tasty food and family run home away from home. I lived here full time together with my wife for 3 months. We completed the 200 hour yoga union accredited teacher training and also did a 10 day panchakarma treatment. It was a life changing experience for both of us and I will speak a bit more about the yoga teacher training for those who are interested.
I think many yoga teacher trainings focus predominantly on the correct execution of assanas. What I learned at the Vedic Retreat Centre is that Yoga is a holistic system of which assanas are just one small part. The experience and your own growth will always be in your own hands. How much are you willing to leave your comfort zone and how much responsibiliy are you willing to take? For example, it was tough in the beginning to wake up every morning at 6AM, however, it created the foundation I needed to grow as person and to develop a core to my life and practice. During the training you will learn about developing your own practice and becoming a practinioner first before youteach others. An example is meditation: You will learn about many forms of meditation and also how to explain the practice and benefits to others but in order to teach you must first experience. Therefore, a typical day starts with self-guided meditation, which puts the responsibility for your growth back into your own hands. Can you show up for yourself every morning? Depending on the season, yoga classes will start around 7AM and they last 2 hours. These classes are very holistic, where you learn and practice the various parts of yoga that are "never" practiced in western yoga studios: sitting in silence, mantra chanting, kryia yoga, balancing your lunar/solar energies and various yoga nidra practices to just mention a few. What makes the Vedic Yoga Centre so special is that it's a yoga school but also an ayurvedic centre in one. Besides yoga and meditation you will also learn about the ayurveda philosophy, ayurvedic nutricion and medicine. If you'd like to learn more about those you can book additional workshops next to the teacher training.
In the 3 months I stayed at the VYC, I had my day filled with various practices that helped me experience the holistic power of yoga. It is all about union. This experience and knowledge has really changed my life. I am now going back to Amsterdam and I feel I take home new ways to fill my day and became a more complete person. The journey is just beginning now and I just like to express my gratitude to everyone running the Vedic Retreat Centre and Shailendra in particular. Thank you so much.

I want to share my warm impressions of staying at Vedic Yoga Center!
I've lived here several times and will definitely come back again. Every time it feels like home.
Convenient location, clean rooms, delicious food, care and peace - which makes your stay comfortable in the basement, as well as traditional practices of yoga, kirtan, puja - which makes your stay filled with Light.
I thank Shelinder Negi's family with all my heart!

I was lucky enough to stumble upon Vedic Yoga Centre, which is conveniently located on one of the main streets in Rishikesh near the Ganges River. I decided to stay for a week of yoga, ayuverdic treatment, (including daily massages) and lodging/food. The morning yoga that was led by Shailendra while I was there was absolutely amazing. It included meditation, asana, kriya, bandah and pranayama. I loved his teaching style and it was physically challenging as well as spiritually engaging. Those words don't do it justice, but just trust me, its an amazing yoga class. While I was there, Elizabeth led the afternoon kriya class. This was also a really enriching and spiritually enlightening experience and I learned so much working with her. In the evenings while I was there, Shailendra led a Satsung which involved chanting (including music) and a discourse. I found this really positive and a really nice way to end the day.
The room itself was very nice. All the staff were lovely. There are some cute kids and sweet dogs running around. The food was great. The massage therapist was absolutely incredible. Both teachers gave me 1:1 consultation and instruction whenever I wanted it or they saw that I needed it. I am still benefiting from this knowledge and have incorporated a lot into my daily practice and life.
This is an amazing place to be. Make sure you check it out if you come to Rishikesh. :)

Such a beautiful and tranquil place to stay. The rooms were modern, clean and beautifully designed. The location is close to Laxman Jhula and tucked just back off the street so that you are away from the hustle and bustle. There is a yoga space to practice and join with kirtans. I really recommend to stay here and would come again for sure.

I came along with a group of 13th people from Italy. We were since long time in connection with Shailendra since we needed to organize our group staying during the spiritual tour in Rishikesh and visiting the sacred places in Himalayas. I felt imidiatly been at home. Shailendra and his family members are personally taking care about everything. They are genuine and autentic and commited to their work/ mission. The food it's beyond words ,truly delicious and made it with love by the family members. It's authentic Himalaya's food . The room are comfortable and have the basics needs since it's a yogic vedic center it's focus in the inner journey and i feel it's perfectly done it.
I can only suggest you to visit this lovely place of you come to Rishikesh and attend the classes with Shailendra ji and also having ayurvedic treatment here .

It was a wonderful month spent at the Vedic Yoga Center retreat center.
A calm and quiet place with a wonderful atmosphere and its own territory on which there are houses with rooms and rooms for Ayurveda procedures. Nice, pleasant rooms for every taste and price.
People from different countries come here to study yoga and to train yoga teachers. Two yoga halls in the building and one outdoors under the roof.
There are many Ayurvedic treatments available such as Panchakarma and others.
You can come in groups, meals are possible on the territory of the center.

It is a very special and beautiful place, run by a family and you have the feeling like you were at home. Excellent Ayurveda treatments, Yoga classes and Chanting mantras give you a holistic healing experience. Rooms are clean, bright and equipped with extra soft thick blankets, each room has a balcony.
The food is fresh, homemade and of great variety.
So I would go there, if I am in Rishikesh.

I would like to highly recommend Vedic Yoga Center. A magical place with a family atmosphere with amazing accommodations. The place offers yoga retreat, yoga courses, and Ayurveda treatments. In addition offers natural organic food, all at the highest level. It is suitable for people with yoga experience as well as for those without experience. Shailendera adapts itself to the person and can build a suitable program for each person's needs. I arrived at the place after a war in the country, after a personal conversation with Shailendera, an amazing and humble person, attentive and caring, he adapted a plan adapted to my situation
we decided to do mindfulness and yoga course, work on the subconscious and acceptance of life, with work on balance mind and body. which Shailendera accompanied me throughout the process at the highest level, was always available to me at any time even after finishing the course, and always makes sure that I feel comfortable and that I don't lack anything. The course helped me a lot and empowered me, and changed my life. In addition, I took professional Ayurveda treatments at the center, which really helped me. And now I also have the ability to help those around me. Highly recommend to everyone. Amazing family atmosphere, even the family surprised me and I celebrated a birthday with them according to Indian culture at the end of the course, and did a special pooja ceremony on this day for life with a new beginning and I feel that on this day I received a new life. I'm Waiting to come back!!!

Very comfortable place to stay. On the quite side of Ganga river and though the enter to the centre is on the first line, centre itseld inside the trees and because of that it is very calm and quite.
The Shailendra and his family was very careful and all our wishes were satisfied.
We had special ayurvedic dishes and they were so various that we didn't tired of them at all.
Practice with Shailendra opened new understanding and was very useful.
