My second time in 6 years
It grew, it's more modern and comfortable but did not lose the authenticity and the homey feeling.
Great accommodation facilities - Washroom and Room - and very safe (solo woman travelling out there :)), that is important and it is something that gives you the peace of mind that you need to take deep dive into the your internal journey.

Thank you Sham for the company and availability during my stay
Thank you Niraje and Rishi for the smile and for being always of service and the delicious food
No words for the amazing Teju, the knowledge and the teaching of what Yoga is about, not only the best practices of the Asanas, but the actual philosophy that should guide us when incorporating the Yoga Philosophy in our life.
Thank you Stephania for your warm smile and your classes
Yogi Ram, thank you for sharing with us your knowledge and your practice. Thank you for opening your Ashram and having a home away from home for us, the ones searching to know more about Self Attendance ;) and Self Transformation.

I will be back!
See you soon
Raquel

Attended the Himalayan Yog Ashram for 6-nights doing the Ayurvedic Detox program. What an illuminating, stimulating, thought provoking and empowering experience. Early wake up for Sanskrit chanting and breathing excercises, Hatha yoga and Ayurvedic education lessons before breakfast, yogic philosophy and personal Ayurvedic Treatment (awaken the body) before lunch, Ashtanga yoga and Meditation before dinner. The meals on the detox program, designed to cleanse the body, consisted of delicious juices, soups and kitcheri... and of course the ever addictive chai (people not doing detox were provided generous servings of a variety of curries and roti). The teachers are incredibly friendly, passionate, experienced and knowledgeable. As a yoga novice I was able to participate in the yoga classes comfortably, the teachers knew just how to push me to my limits to get the most progress (never been more flexible in my life) and the conversations with yogi ram about life, society and conciousness I will always cherish. The Ashram is a lovely place to stay, the private rooms consisted of extra warm and comfy beds and ensuite with ever reliable hot water. Also don't forget to have a chat with the cooks....most fun loving lads.

I stayed in this Ashram in November for the 200 hour teacher training; What an amazing place and wonderful people. I would definitely recommend you stay here.

The employees of the ashram are wonderful and thoughtful and you can feel a sense of family between all the staff.

The teachers are extremely knowledgeable and eager to answer your questions. You will learn a LOT but there is always time for a joke. This keeps the material light and the setting informal. The food, which is prepared fresh every day, is vegetarian & according to ayurvedic standards and very good.

During out stay the ashram organized spme lovely activities as well: including seing the sunrise from mountain top, live music and meditation at the ganga. The ashram was easy to contact, I was able to arrange everything with them via whatsapp (quick responses & helpful contact).

The ashram has an in-house masseuse, who is very capable and a lovely roof terrace where you can meditate/ read/sun bath with view of the mountains. The ashram is situated about 10-15 minute walk from the ganga and there are shops, cafes and laundry services near the ashram. Would recommend a stay here if you visit Rishikesh!

I stayed in the ashram for a week, which just feels too short. My time there was truly exceptional because it’s a safe and peaceful place where you can learn not just Yoga but also life guidance. The mentor Ram teaches nothing mysterious but a simple and profound truth: disciplined mind and balanced life. I really respect him, for he is a man that lives what he believes and teaches. The other teachers that teach Pranayama and Asana are also great. They always keep a light mood in the classroom, which makes you feel easy and rewarding when learning Yoga, especially for starters like me. By the way, all the good reviews about the food are true. Even though I’m not a vegan, I enjoyed every meal prepared by the cool Marendre. Not to mention, he serves the best Chai tea in Rishikesh, in my opinion. After leaving the ashram, I spent another week in Rishikesh, and I tried several cafes. None of them could beat the Chai tea I had here. I’m really happy that I trusted my intuition in choosing Himalayan Yog Ashram for my yoga retreat. Anyone that seeks inner peace or hopes to build up himself/herself to lead a different life, you could try starting here. I’m sure you will find it rewarding.

Wonderful place. Looking for retreat in Rishikesh can be overwhelming as there is so much choice so I am really happy I chose to spend my time here, in the Himalayan Yog Ashram.
For people looking for a safe and authentic space to reconnect with yourself and explore or deepen your practice with yoga ,meditation and spirituality, this is the perfect place.
The location is very well connected yet somehow feels peaceful and sheltered from the noise of the city, the rooms are clean and comfortable, the food is delicious, healthy and prepared with care, the massages offered truly wonderful and the staff feels like family.
The yoga, pranayama and meditation classes are taught in an authentic way following the classical Himalayan traditions and the instructors are knowledgeable, skilled and very approachable, going the extra mile to accommodate your needs.
Thank you all for teaching , inspiring me and making my stay here so special.

It was an amazing stay in Himalayan Yog Ashram. It's absolutely clean and safe. I was sick when I arrived the Ashram and I recovered completely during a few days. Everyone is so careful and they make every effort to look after their "guests". Thank you so much for this experience.

I came to the Himalayan Yog Ashram just after quitting my job in Switzerland, not knowing exactly what worklife i would like to have in the future. I was looking for a small and quite place, as i wanted to get in touch more with my true self and to think about how i wanted to create my future worklife.

Back home I hesitated between the ashram stay and the yoga teacher training program. I choose de ashram stay, because my visa was valid only 30 days and i didn't want to rush through a program without having some extra time for myself. Once in the Ashram, Yogi Ram and his team allowed me to join alle the classes of the current teacher training programm and i could skip some classes whenever i wanted. This flexibility was exactly what i needed. I spent one month in this beautiful place.

The classes and teachings are profound, challenging (mentally as well as physically) and pursue a holistic approach. However the focus is not on asana classes but much more on gaining inner peace (through meditation / yoga nidra / pranayama) and transfering knowledge about ayurveda and anatomie.

The warmth and passion all of the staff puts in their work is breathtaking. This journey surpassed anything i could have ever dreamed of. Yogi Ram has a powerful presence and a natural authority. He is a very warm person and finds always the right words whatever topic you discuss in philosophy. By the why i absolutely loved his yoga nidra class! Teju has a huge knowledge in ayurveda & human anatomy. In his asana classes i was challenged with peacock, scorpion & lotus pose. Even if the classes were challenging, we laughed a lot and had a lot of fun. And i'll never forget he took me to an indian wedding next door to the Ashram ;-). Shyam (the manager) helped me with all my IT problems and was answering all my questions with "don't worry, no problem, i can do it". He made my stay really comfortable and taught me some words in Hindi as well (-:. Kapil is a very calm person and i liked the smooth beginning of the daily scedule with his pranayama class. Himansu and Suresh were putting so much love in all their dishes. All the meals are fresh, healthy and always served with a smile on their face.

Il left the Ashram grounded, with much more inner clarity and with life lasting memories.

I have stayed in Himalayan Yog Ashram for the third time in 9 years. What I wrote about Yogi Ram, his team and the facilities of this ashram then, is still valid and more. Not only is it still a complete breeze of fresh air compared to so many other yoga places (and there are many in Rishikesh nowadays), it is also the place where professional commitment to Hatha Yoga is held high. The ashram is extended with a complete new building which contains the most amazing Yoga shala and beautifull comfortabele rooms with AC and heating. The place is also perfect for (female) solo travellers for it is safe and the people running the ashram take really good care of their guests.

I just finished the Yoga teacher training and it was an intense and enriching experience. The spaces are clean and well organised, the location in Tapovan is convenient and overlooking the mountains and above all the teachers, of each individual discipline, are competent, prepared and available. If you are looking for a place to have a hashram stay or delve into traditional Himalayan yoga and Ayurveda, this is the place for you. You will find excellent, healthy food and the discipline needed to take this introspective journey. Highly recommended! I'll be back 🙏

I was looking for a yog asram in Rishikesh since few days and fortunately i got to know about Himalayan yog asram. I was thr for one week ayurvedic anti stress program and i am so happy and satisfied with the therapy ,yog classes nd meditation.
Teju sir is very kind nd humble teacher who teaches yoga very patiently ,i was a beginner but still he taught me everything very nicely .
All the ayurvedic massage treatments were also very good and relaxing.
Philosophy classes conducted by Yogi Ram ji was so much fun. You can talk anything and everything with him and last but not least Yog nindra classes again conducted by Yogi Ram sir worked magically for me ,i am finally able to sleep peacefully after years by doing this simple practice.
Highly recommended place for people who seriously want to learn yog and meditation and not just stretching and asanas.
Environment of Ashram is very peaceful nd quiet .All meals are super tasty and healthy.
P.S. one of the most important thing is thr is no smoking allowed in the ashram which is sadly rare in Rishikesh these days.
So overall i had amazing experience and i am looking forward to go thr again soon.
