Under Canvas Zion is widely celebrated for its unique atmosphere, complete with live music and cozy campfires, set against a backdrop of stunning mountain views that many guests find breathtaking. The spacious tents provide a comfortable and private glamping experience, though opinions on room cleanliness and noise levels vary. The service is generally regarded as attentive and friendly, though not without occasional lapses. While the beds are comfortable, and the evening activities are engaging, some guests feel the overall value doesn't quite match the cost.

This was our first glamping experience, so I have no basis for comparison, but I can’t imagine a more perfect glamping experience than this one. We stayed for 2 nights in October in a Suite Tent. The tent was gorgeous and had lots of space to lounge. The bathroom had a shower where you had to pull a rope chain to get water. Given you are in a tent, there’s not a lot of privacy from each other in the bathroom, but there are lots of private toilet + shower stalls near the reception tent. The bed was super warm and cozy (though the mattress sagged in the middle). We enjoyed the wood fire in the room. We had 2 lanterns and an overhead light in the bathroom, plus battery packs to recharge cell phones, etc (takes USB cable and iPhone chargers).

The service was fantastic and all the staff are super friendly and helpful. We got great tips not only for Zion, but for our upcoming trip to Bryce Canyon and Moab. We ate dinner at the restaurant both nights and the food was great (not inexpensive, but not unreasonable given remote location), and some good non-dairy and vegetarian selections. The vegan s’mores were awesome!

The most amazing thing about Under Canvas Zion is the gorgeous location surrounded by mesas. Sunset here was incredible. There is a sense of quiet and tranquility here that I can’t imagine is matched by any other accommodations in the area (we drove by several other glamping sites which were right along the road). This site is more remote, yet easily accessible to Springdale and the entrance to Zion National Park.

We had stayed at the Under Canvas Moab a couple of years ago and decided to try the Zion one on our trip through the area. It was a great experience overall - the location is definitely a bit remote, but the views from the tents and sitting areas were spectacular. We stayed in a Deluxe Tent and a Suite Tent with our family of 5 - they were comfortable and clean (to the extent you can be in a dusty area in a tent). The tents had misters, which were critical given how hot it was when we were there (100 degrees plus), but even with the misters it's pretty uncomfortable in the tents during the middle of the day. The food options are decent there (breakfast and dinner), and having dinner outside the main "lodge" tent at sunset was really stunning.
There are two things to keep in mind: it's a tent resort, so there is a lot of dust. We're used to backpacking, so it's no big deal, but this is not a hotel experience! Second, it is an expensive stay, especially given you're staying in a tent ($400-600/night for us). You're paying a steep premium over the other hotel options in the area. For us it was worth it given the uniqueness of the experience, but just something to keep in mind. If you do stay here, I'd recommend you check out some of the hikes in Kolob Terrace area as an alternative to the main Zion canyon, which we found to be overly crowded (and too hot).

For somebody like me that I had never camped and am not necessarily super into the outdoors this is as good as it’s gonna get to experience that. The bed is extremely comfortable and if you keep the tent zipped you shouldn’t have an issue with bugs. The service is amazing at the lobby and staff does everything they can to make your stay enjoyable. The food at embers is great and they have free activities and things like s’mores, morning yoga and some outdoor games to use by the fire pits. The main issue I had is staying at the safari tent the shared bathroom is extremely far and in the case of my tent location it was not a short walking distance by any means. Unfortunately there were no deluxe tents available because I booked kind of short notice. I would have to get in the car and drive to the bathroom when I needed to go which is pretty annoying, especially if it’s the middle of the night. I would never stay at a safari tent again but I would stay at another undercanvas location in a deluxe. It might be possible that you can request a tent closer to the bathrooms but it just wasn’t the case for me. Very fun introduction to “camping”. This is geared more towards people like me that would not camp otherwise, and am willing to pay to have the experience in comfort. It is very pricey but was worth it in my opinion. If you are an experienced camper you may see it as overpriced. Another thing is that they did not come and clean the tent (take out trash and make the beds) even though it says they do on the website. Fun experience and would do it again at another location if there’s a tent available with a bathroom inside.

UnderCanvas Zion is about 12 miles from the main entrance to Zion, but within a 100 meters or so of a "back" entrance, allowing access to a variety of great hiking trails. Unfortunately, that is where the positives stop. Glamping at this place means a tent with a bed, and a couple of chairish things. During our visit, temperatures were in the 30's at night. We had a wood stove for heat, which we figured out after 4 days. No electricity, rather if you asked USB batteries were available, as were battery driven lanterns (standard room items). Mediocre (being very generous) food was available, albeit significantly overpriced. Staff were generally nice, although new and very uneven in quality - those present on the weekend of our arrival were terrific, but a very significant dropoff occurred thereafter. Finally, while common areas were available, guests were, in our opinion, not welcomed there save for breakfast and dinner hours. Finally, while the no wireless thing is understandable, my wife and I visited while the covid nightmare began. Trying to change our flights (there is minimal/no cell connectivity), we asked to be able to use the wireless, given that the staff seemed to spend significant amounts of time on the network during the day. We were refused, and told that we could drive off premises if we needed a better signal.
In summary, given the prices charged, the staff, the mediocre food and accommodations, in my opinion, one would be much better off investing in a really nice, big tent, and great sleeping equipment (maybe even a little heater) rather than going to undercanvas zion. We will never go to one of this company's sites again.

Even though camping here is definitely on the more expensive side, even for just one night, I feel it was worth every penny for the memories that my family got to share in such a wonderful and beautiful setting.

We had the stargazer tent with the side Tee Pee with the twin large Twin Beds for my kids. My boys are getting on the taller side and they didn't feel cramped at all in the Tee Pee and also never felt cold during an April Night. Our tent (stargazer) we staied up and watched not one but 2 shooting stars. Finally about the tents they are strict on a 10pm quiet hours, which is nice to be able to settle down without hearing music and screaming like other camp sites.

What to expect when you go ~
1) There's wood fire heaters in the tent with exhaust pipes and still a CO2 detectors in the tents.
2) plenty of blankets to keep you plenty warm.
3) battery powered Lanterns to be able to get around at night time as well as a battery power bar so you can charge your devises. Even little fans.
4) Stargazer tent had a full shower with shampoo, conditioner, and Body wash; sink and toilet so you don't have to go to a community bathroom.
5) They have smores you can cook on the multiple campfires they have throughout the site in induvial paper brown bags.
6) You can get coffee, tea, or hot chocolate free anytime of the day.
7) There is someone in the receptionist area 24/7.
8) Breakfast and/or Dinner is NOT included but there is a restaurant on site that you can pay for. I would recommend getting breakfast in the morning we headed east after our stay towards Glen Canyon and Never found any restaurants (even fast food) open.
9) There also is outdoor activities for the kids at the big tent
10) You can book tours and outdoor activities with Under the Canvas staff
11) you can even get souvenirs in the big tent

On the positive, it was clean, beautiful and the service was good. However, The first night we were put into tent number 16, which is right by the entry road, and the service golf cart and other visitor vehicles kept coming and going by our tent well past midnight, waking us up and keeping us up. Plus, it’s only about 100 feet from the main common tent, we are people were up late celebrating and playing games, and arriving vehicles blasted their headlights onto our tent every time someone arrived at the camp. While lights out and quiet time starts at 10 o’clock, you would never know it, and the other guests are a big part of the problem. I told some friends that the problem isn’t the camp, but rather the other rude insensitive guests.

It was wonderful that the assistant manager moved us the next morning to number 58, away from the road and up into a much more quiet portion of the camp. The second night was restful and beautiful, and we appreciated the private bathroom and shower, but did not find the common area ones particularly offensive and they were very well-maintained. However, it was the third windy night where things went off the rails. Gusts of wind caused our canvas tent to flap loudly, waking us up constantly after 9 o’clock. At midnight, my wife rolled over and said, “I cannot spend the night here.” We literally packed up our things and drove half an hour into town and got a great nights sleep at the local Holiday Inn.

The other issue we have with the camp is the location. While it’s a beautiful setting, it’s half an hour away from Zion national Park and the restaurants in the area. I guess if you are a camper, and that’s how you roll, that this is a pretty good set up. However, the location, inherently loud guests/vehicles and susceptibility of the structures to the wind, it just doesn’t make it the right place for us.

We stayed at two accommodations during our trip to Zion, one being Under Canvas (which was significantly more expensive that our hotel) because we wanted to experience glamping for the first time. While we still had a good trip, the price we paid wasn't really reflected by our stay. It was incredibly hot during the evening and the misters stopped working about 10 minutes upon our arrival. Our room also didn't come with battery packs (although we were able to grab some from the lobby) and our exterior light did not work.

Aside from staying in a nicer tent, this didn't feel much different from regular camping. We still had to trek in the dark to and from the bathroom, and the tent was still very hot at night. I wouldn't recommend going in the summer, and honestly if you can find a regular campsite that has a nicer bathroom it would be just about the same. The bathroom shower was a little difficult to use because 1. there wasn't much space to put your stuff and 2. you had to hold down the chain to shower which basically meant you had to shower with one hand.

Overall:
2.5/5 for the price
3.5/5 for the staff
3/5 for the accommodations

I stayed at Under Canvas with my partner and it was all and more than we could have asked for. Simple and well appointing rooms with super comfortable beds in secure tents that could breathe.

Live music in the evening and complimentary s’mores were lovely touches. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are available to purchase, which is nice when you are in the middle of nowhere and need some nourishment.

The showers are practical, great water pressure, and come with fresh towels and body wash.

I would come back for sure the next time I am in Zion.

We'd been wanting to go glamping for quite some time. And, for about $375 per night after taxes, we expected a lot more. The tent itself was great. The bed was very comfortable and we were able to heat up the tent with the wood burning stove very easily. There are power bricks in the room for your devices. THe views were stellar. On a more negative note, we had to ask for towels and recharged power bricks. Note that you either walk ten minutes to the "reception," or drive to talk to staff. On day two, more towels were dropped off on a chair on our porch. Again, for $375 per night, I would expect our old towels to be picked up, the bed made, and the floor swept. None of that happened. The shower was pretty cool, but hot water was intermittent and barely "hot." Food is "okay" and very expensive for what you get. I'd pay $150 a night.

Under Canvas Zion is in a gorgeous location with glorious views. Not all tents had the same view. The bed was huge and very comfortable. We were very happy with our sleep. Some coyotes from afar off were howling, but it added to the experience and we were able to sleep easily. We had a safari tent which meant we had a shared bathroom. They were always clean. The actual shower function was awkward. You had to pull a chain every time you wanted water, and it’s a small space. The loop our tent was situated on didn’t allow cars. They have golf carts to help schlep your stuff— but in our case it was only for 20 feet, and then we had to go up a footpath for quite awhile with our bags. Had I known this, we would have packed differently. We loved the view once we got there, but it was quite a hike to our tent, and then back down to the bathrooms and the car and even further to the reception area. I recommend being in good shape if you want to stay here. Lots of hiking and elevation gains and losses to get where you need to go. Traditional car camping requires far less walking and hiking. Not allowing cars near tents cut down on noise and lights, but it’s something that I wish we had known about, so we could make informed decisions. All the trails and footpaths were very well kept, and some had lighting. We also had a full moon, but on darker nights you may want to pack a headlamp.

The weather was perfect for us. I can’t imagine enjoying it it the hot summer months, however.

As we are used to traditional hotels or rentals, paying the same for less was something we weren’t prepared for. Once we decided this was an experience and not to worry about the awkward showers, or the hike to and from the tent, we had a very enjoyable time.

At the resort they serve breakfast and dinner. Fo lunch you are on your own. You can also eat in town for any meal you choose, its about 15 min away. I do recall the vegetable curry being excellent but Im not sure if its vegan or not. You can give them a call or they have a menu on the website.
