Red Mountain Resort is celebrated for its impeccable cleanliness and stunning location, which guests find breathtaking and conveniently close to local attractions. While the resort's atmosphere and amenities—highlighting jetted tubs and fireplaces—are generally well-received, there is some concern regarding the decline in dining quality and a less tranquil environment possibly due to children. Mixed reviews surface regarding the rooms, with disparities in opinions on size, privacy, and décor.
Service experiences vary, with reports of both commendable hospitality and frustrating delays. Critically, a number of guests question the value for the price paid.

Detailed Reviews
We had a wonderful stay at Red Mountain Resort. I have read some of the harsher reviews and I think it is important to understand that this is not Miraval or Canyon Ranch. If I had to compare this hotel to anything, I would say it is a smaller more laid back version of Enchantment Resort in Sedona. We had an ala carte rate, so I do not know what activities would normally be included in the room rate.
One other thing to consider – this hotel only accepts children in the Summer. This was perfect for us as we used the hotel as to explore Zion National Park on the first leg of a Southwest National Park Tour. However, if I was a normal spa guest coming in the summer, I think my experience would be different than if I stayed at this hotel at nay other time of the year.
Room: We rented a one bedroom villa which had a large living area and a washer/dryer. The room was on the first floor and we had no issues with noise. It was great because we could easily access the pool from our back patio as the villa buildings all surround the villa pool.
Location: The resort is in a suburb of St George and it was easy to get into town by car. The resort backs up to a state park, so there is ample hiking and biking. There is also a fire pit and some nicely appointed sitting areas at the reception building. Unlimited Water bottles are available at reception.
Restaurant: We did not eat at the restaurant.
Pool: There seemed to be many complaints about no food and beverage service at the pool, but this is not that type of hotel. This is not a large luxury hotel, it is a small boutique spa/lifestyle resort. The pool is small and well maintained and not intended to be a full service amenity. There were always ample towels, chairs and umbrellas.
Staff: The staff was friendly and accommodating, we felt welcomed. I left something at the hotel and they offered to send it to the next hotel, which was greatly appreciated.
COVID 19 Housekeeping: My only gripe about this hotel (and from what I can see – all Utah hotels) is they will not clean your room during your stay. They will deliver toiletries and towels, but there is NO housekeeping services. To be honest it feels like the hotels are very slow to resume full services rather than doing it for any real COVID reason as the rest of the state appears to be back to normal (masks are not required and it seems as though restaurants and all other reservices are operating at full capacity). It is unclear at this point why the hotel has not resumed full housekeeping services.

First, let me start by saying the location of this property is the best. We almost stayed at the Inn at Entrada, but so pleased we chose this resort. We had a room overlooking the mountains - and by the way - these are by far the way to go with a view this stunning. As a career hotelier in the luxury segment, I always try to look at the positives and remember that not every hotel is a 5 star hotel. The activities are what you come here for. The Snow Canyon State Park is incredible. My daughter is a cyclist and there are many paths and quiet roads to enjoy. I am a runner and the same, paths snake around much of the park. The setting and the arrival are great and then after that, it kind of falls apart. To us, it seems like a property begging for a renovation and it could be a world class resort for sure. We were the most disappointed in the restaurant, it s a huge uninviting, cold room. The breakfast buffet which cost over 40 dollars for 2 consisted of about 6 items, no muffins, toast, jellies, yogurt etc. It was my daughters birthday and we wanted to celebrate with some champagne and the restaurant would only give me 2 plastic cups, the bartender told me she didn't have enough glasses to give me two, honestly, there were about 50 glasses at her bar and the place was empty. The room was just ok 3 star at best, but the bed was wonderful. There are chairs and lounge chairs outside of the rooms but the next door neighbor took our chairs so we had nothing to sit on. If you want to come and enjoy the beauty of the park and a stunning view, this is a great choice. Also need some kind of blackout shades the shutters do not afford a dark room at night.

Spent 8 nights here at the resort. Spectacular views in a Mt view room. Rooms are not huge but ok. Activities are great. Restaurant was good. Wendy
was the best server and Savanah was the best bus girl. The tofu really needed to be seasoned and cooked a little longer on most of the dishes. More plant based options should be offered considering it was a resort and spa. Also, I paid for the all inclusive option and charged 8 dollars for a hummus plate when I didn't even order an entree that was more expensive. This makes no sense. Also, pool could have been heated to a higher temperature. Many guests were complaining about it being too cold. I feel that in the Covid era, there should no charge for room service considering they should want to keep social distancing in place. All in all, it was a pretty nice trip.

The location is stunning. The staff are friendly and helpful. The bathroom in our king villa was very nice. There is a little gas fireplace which is nice.
The room opens out to the pool, which I thought would be lovely, but means that anyone at the pool can see right into your room unless the curtains are drawn. The big drawback is that our villa was on the first floor. The construction of the buildings is such that it sounded as if the guest upstairs were jumping rope all night, on a horse, or had brought a herd of elephants along. The staff let us know that this is a known problem and that over half the first floor guests complain about this but all they could do would be to move us to an upstairs room. So if you go, do ask for a second floor room. You may then be able to get some sleep and no one will be able to see in your room so you can keep the curtains open.
The restaurant was clean if somewhat uninspired and the food fresh and decent but not spectacular. I imagine it’s the best restaurant in the area. The staff was lovely, particularly at breakfast.
The pool is basic but nice and clean and good for doing laps, but closes early and there’s no food or beverage service there. There are some pool floats you can use. No lifeguard. Like being at a pool at a friend’s house.
We did an a la carte stay. If I were to go back, I’d do one of the hiking or spa packages as they look fantastic. It would be lovely for a ladies’ reunion or mother-daughter trip. But I would stay upstairs so I could get some sleep, and tread lightly in my room for the benefit of the poor souls beneath.
One thing we’ve never seen anywhere else, and perhaps it’s pandemic-related, but there is no housekeeping during your stay. I wasn’t a fan of that. Part of the fun of staying in a resort is having a fresh & clean room when you come back from the days adventure, and not having to do any housework of your own. Again, maybe that’s just a pandemic thing but I haven’t seen it elsewhere.

I write this in sadness over anger. This review has one star because zero stars is not an option. I have been coming here for 10 years myself and have also brought my department here for retreats. I’m sorry to say that I have witnessed the resort’s decline and today was simply the last straw. If you want a peaceful spa experience, go elsewhere. I went to the spa for a series of treatments to get some much needed rest after a stressful family event. I left more aggravated than when I came in. The spa staff does not know and/or has not been trained how to be quiet. Three times I heard staff raising their voices and having personal conversations in the treatment areas. When you are naked on a massage table, or trying to gather your thoughts in the lounge, you have no choice but to hear this intrusive inanity. It is NOT calming or restful. I strongly suggest that resort management visit nationally noted spas like Canyon Ranch, Miraval, or Golden Door to see how it is done. Red Mountain charges rates that are comparable to these spas but they are in no way equal. I’m sad to write this. How can you screw things up so badly and waste such a beautiful location?

We stayed in the 2 bedroom luxury villas & they were large with 3 fireplaces & 2 big bathrooms. The large central shared space was well designed, but the fireplace glass was in need of cleaning. The highlight was the leader of our private tour to Zion Park, Al. He began pointing out interesting sites as soon as the van left the resort & regaled us with fascinating stories & facts all day. He was patient, cheerful, & inclusive of everyone. The least impressive part of the trip was the communication with & between the staff. We hope it was because they hadn't been open long enough & were still figuring out how to do things, but our communications with them were very unsatisfactory. Our messages were frequently ignored or not passed on and they didn't seem surprised or dismayed when asked about it. For example, we didn't have our rooms cleaned every day, but 2 people from our group asked that they clean all our rooms while we were gone on the Zion trip (from 7AM until ~5 PM). We arrived home eager to take a shower to find no towels & they hadn't touched our rooms. When we called, they said, "Oh, we'll send you some towels right away". Another example: when we arrived, a bird had met with a sad fate on our door & there were LOTS of tiny feathers all over. Every time we opened the door, the fine small feathers would blow in. We asked several times if they could vacuum them up & when we left, they were still floating around. If they can fix the communication they can make 5 stars.

The resort is perfectly situated at the bottom of Snow Creek Canyon and in a quiet neighborhood. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Signage on the property blended in so much that multiple guests kept quizzing us about directions. We booked an “a la carte” Desert Oasis King room and ended up on the second floor of the Eagle Building. Much of what we saw through our window was the metal staircase leading up to the second floor. The room was dark and seemed “worn”. Following my pandemic habits, I wiped out the “clean” coffee mugs with a Sani-wipe and noticed that I had the previous occupants coffee remnants on my wipe. I then wiped all the door handles and surfaces…. The bed was very comfortable and the bathrobes were great! The food at Canyon Breeze was decent but the atmosphere unattractive: a large room without any character and bare minimum silverware rolled in a napkin arrangements. This resort could be fabulous due to its location and amenities, but it simply lacks that luxurious piece.

Red Mountain Resort is a good value for the price point - the food is sufficient (very generous breakfast), a variety of options for hikes and other activities, and I found my king room to be spacious and comfortable. I thought all of the guides were very good. I agree with some of the reviews about the lackluster spa experience, yes there could be improvement for sure. My massage was just okay, and the space itself is not great. That said it's not fair to compare Red Mountain to Canyon Ranch or Miraval. If you want that experience then you have to pay for it. This is a good place for a solo travel, but especially for a group of friends who might have varying budgets and interests including different fitness levels.

I stayed at Red Mountain for 5 days in November '21. The setting as other reviews state is spectacular. I had been to this resort several times a number of years ago and many things have changed. I paid for the whole package - room, food, hikes and some classes as well as pool and gym access. I think it was a better value in the long run than a la carte. Nowadays the emphasis is more on spa experiences and hikes in the gorgeous red rocks than it is about fitness. Although the food is fine it is no longer particularly calorie or health conscious. There are interesting cocktails, pasta, steak, salmon, burgers and fries and nice desserts. The classes were fun things like drumming and yoga by candle light but I had come expecting Red Mountain to be a more rigorous fitness experience so this new version was not for me. The resort says your room will not be cleaned daily because of gov't standards during Covid but another resort I later moved to (not too far from Red Mountain) offered daily service, great food, the same wonderful hikes, spa services and great fitness offerings. I met nice people at Red Mountain and everyone loved the hikes, the spa services and a nice bottle of wine with dinner.

Property is beautiful, rooms are ok, clean and functional. I like that 2 charging stations are next to the bed unlike most places.
Upon arrival absolutely NO orientation of the property given.. You are given a map, which is pretty much useless, especially if you have no sense of direction. Had it not been for an employee on a golf cart leading me to my room, I would still be searching for it today.
When I tried to find the Labyrinth I asked another guest who had been there 3 days and she could not tell me, even though she had been there herself. The place is a bit of a maze.
Best to bring your own bottled water for coffee, tea and drinking unless you are ok with tap water (with noticeable chlorine smell). I also brought my own Bullet to make smoothies and boiled eggs for breakfast. I read that breakfast/lunch is not that good and over priced. Found that to be true.
There is a mini fridge but no plates, utensils or paper towels if you brought your own food.
Basic classes are $35/each. Much more for hiking, biking and energy/spiritual healing sessions. You can buy a Power Pass for $50/day that can be used on the $35 classes only
I had dinner first night, $68 including tip. Food was mediocre, needs improvement. The patio outside was lovely and breezy. Sadly, there is NO non alcoholic wine or beer options. I hope they rectify that, not everyone wants to include alcohol on a healthy getaway. I decided to eat the tuna and apple I brought for the second nights dinner and I’m glad I did.
All in all it is a beautiful place with lots to offer. I did not hike with a group, but that seems to be the big attraction there. I simply went for a walk on my own and I took a few classes and I was happy with that.

Steamboat Springs, Colorado79 contributions56 helpful votesI'm reading there is no more buffet (sad). Can you order say, an entree and a side if on the all-inclusive? What about dessert? Only one menu indicates inclusive guests can order "one main". Anyone have recent experience to share?
Ask for a Villa Suite if you wish for a microwave. Each bedroom has a small refrigerator. Only the kitchenettes in the suite have a microwave.
It is easy to hike in the area if you have a car. Lots of hikes that are in the adjacent state park, but the park requires a daily parking fee. There are some other hikes about 15 miles away that don't require the parking fee. The mountains and hiking trails around the resort are beautiful.
Yes we do have seasonal outdoor dining!
