Communication was great before we arrived. We arrived around 7 on a Friday night. My personal information was left out on the office door. The package included a map of the RV park but not the tent area. There was a sign with phone numbers that wasn’t useful because I didn’t have service. The friend I was with tried calling and texting with no answer/reply. We drove around and found the tent area next to a mound of dirt. There was feces everywhere. Looked like human feces in the fire pit. Which isn’t surprising once we found how far the restrooms were. Once cleaned up and set up we went looking for the full kitchen, restroom, and showers. When you walked up to the kitchen sick you heard critters scrambling underneath. The water came out of the faucet brown. The stove didn’t work. The place was filthy. Dead bugs in the dish drain. On top of all that the WiFi that was supposed to be good throughout the park didn’t even come close to the tent area. Needless to say, we spent that evening looking for a different place to stay with no luck. The next day we looked for someone that worked there, honoring they could fix these issues. First we found Berry that was very nice. He showed us where Crystal the manager lived. We spoke to her about our concerns. She offered us her WiFi which still didn’t work and to comp us for one night. The water had been an issue since the freeze. WiFi never works over there. If we had of been told about these amenities not being offered when we booked, we would have gone elsewhere. I understand things happen. However you don’t make promises you can’t keep. Crystal explained Beth was the owner and would be back on Monday. We had nowhere else to go. Next we met Wayne, this is still Saturday. He brought over a stove we could use. After speaking to him a while he is also the owner. However Beth is the one that handles the business in of things. He understood my frustration. He brought two bucket loads of sand over to an area next to the common area so I could move my tent where I could get WiFi. I’m not young so moving was no easy task. Monday spent most of the day waiting for Beth. Texting and emails. My reservations was for four nights at 25 a night. When I made the reservations I paid 25 deposit. Beth sent me a bill for 100. What happened to the 25 depot mush less the night I was being comp’d? Beth was a no show knowing I leave in the morning. Next day we pack up, I see Crystal taking her kids to school. Wave her over and hand her the 50 I owe and leave. Bottom line, the bathrooms or kitchen were never cleaned the whole time we were there and doubt it was cleaned before. I never saw anyone in the office, but people’s personal info was left out. They don’t answer text or phone calls. They do answer emails but never got anything resolved that way. If you go don’t expect much. .

Response from Beth Franklin, Owner at B.J.'s RV Park
Responded 3 May 2021
Thank you for providing your feedback and letting us know about your issues. We apologize that our service did not satisfy your expectations. After office hours customers paperwork normally, the personal information is backout except for your name. On the next maps that are printed we will add the area we use for dry camping. We set a high standard for ourselves and are terribly sorry to hear that standard was not met in your interaction with our business. You may see some or see their tracks in our park one or more of the 450 species of birds, 75 species of mammals and 56 species of reptiles. We live in an open desert where coyotes, dogs frequently travel through our beautiful park, but sometimes we miss a few droppings. Your happiness is our number one priority. I wish you would have mentioned that you spent your first evening looking for a different place to say I could have provided you with suggestions. Since the big freeze up in Texas and delays in getting parts, we have been behind on our repairs. Our entire team apologizes for any miscommunication that took place. Please reach me personally via email and I would be happy to discuss the issue at your earliest convenience.

Updated 20210424. Owner addressed and resolved. Bent over backwards to fix our concerns. Good dude, just overworked. Issues. As advertised, not quite...kitchen but none...stove not working for months or longer. Showers and bathrooms yes but water rusted or low flow. Stated he is working but trying. Wifi not to all camp so we were relocated to get wifi. Needs upkeep to worn facilities but clean....sort of, but always had toilet paper (very important). Owner very respectful. Water health and safety needs to be addressed, hopefully soon.

Dry camping in tent site. Website states showers, bathrooms, kitchen, laundry, wifi to complete camp. Based on this reservations were made. Upon arrival there was no wifi to site, stove had not worked for many months or longer, brown smelly water coming from bathroom/showers. And for a while no water at all. The cold was blamed for ongoing water issues but that was a while ago and this should be a safety item. Basically paying for services stated to be provided. The toilets are good and showers ok if you feel it's ok. Fridge filthy, human and dog feces all over tent site area. Not maintained. Camp host was empathetic but these are owners issues. Because we didn't know ahead of time, no other places are available. Since these issues were previously known, I believe patrons are mislead as to what is actually on site. Owners could have told advised of issues

Stayed for a full week! Spot 17 was nice! Big level spots! Great 50amp electric. Nice fire pit and picnic table. Wifi worked good! The shower house is clean with washer and dryer. Berry was very helpful and knowledgeable about the local floral. He was great to talk too! It is in the perfect location between both the state and National parks! I would stay here again if I’m back in the area! Thank you!

We stayed at BJ's in a motorhome at the end of January. We really enjoyed our time there. The owners are really working hard to improve the park. Barry, is one of the workers who is doing a wonderful job of planting and taking care of all the trees and new plants and well as weeding and general landscaping. Everyone is welcoming and helpful. We did not use the laundry or the bath house..but all was very clean. The Terlingua Ghost Town is a short bike ride away and Big Bend National Park is also close by. We hope to visit again!
