Very roomy, with neat southwestern decor. Could have been a little cleaner. A bit overpriced, but location! Liked the front porch sitting area. Check in was quick and fun! Toilet barely flushed, 1 ceiling fan did not work. A/C worked super good.!
A group of 11 of us stayed here for 3 nights and truly enjoyed the accommodations, rooms and upstair gathering parlor and porch where we gathered for daily Happy Hours and card games. The owner and employees were nice and attentive. Only issue was I originally booked the Candelilla House not knowing it was so far away and a car ride from the hotel and others in our group and that the bathroom was not only detached but had steps making a nature call in the dark black of night an issue. Fortunately we were able to move to the hotel the second night and be near our friends and in a room with a bathroom! This place was truly the highlight of our 10 day, multiple location trip and the Starlight has delicious food!
My husband and I stayed in the LA Patrona room for Christmas 2021. Immediately, we witnessed some dead cockroaches around the room. We assumed that they had just sprayed for roaches and that's why we were seeing so many dead ones. But as our stay continued, it was clear that the infestation was bigger than one treatment could contain. The first night we were there, a live cockroach ran over my husband's bare feet while he was using the restroom. We were able to track it down and kill it and by the time we made it back into our room, we found several dead roaches that either we had missed or had just recently died in our room. Cockroaches fell on us from the walls. We had to tiptoe around an ever growing amount of dead roaches on the floor. The infestation was bad, but the real reason for the terrible review is a lack of response from the owner when I emailed about this problem. I'm hoping for a response from the owner, an acknowledgement of the issue, and a plan of action to rid the hotel of roaches.…
Everything about Terlingua was a hit for my family and the perfect place to spend the night in Big Bend. The Black Bear suite was spacious and gave us plenty of room to spread out. Being in town and able to walk to dinner and coffee and the shop and explore the town was ideal. Wish we could've stayed two nights.
There are not many places to stay in Terlingua so this was it. What a pleasant surprise to find this comfortable spot. We were in room 1 which was on the end. Thankfully our neighbors were quiet and retired early. It's an old town with old buildings. We were given "keys" to the room. I was very happy with our accommodations. The bathroom was clean and it had plenty of hot water. The room had a big easy chair and a small round table with chairs. It wasn't a huge room but it worked. Don't expect the Hilton and you won't be disappointed. The man checking us in was very nice and let us check in early. You are in the desert. So because of a power outage from a storm in the distance we also had no water, meaning no toilet. I was very surprised the hotel did not have a generator back up. It lasted 5 hours but fortunately the cool desert air kept the room comfortable and we were able to sleep. There isn't much available in this town for eat and drink. There is a cafe next door that has limited hours for breakfast, then it closes and reopens for lunch only. We packed our food when we left Alpine the day before for our picnic lunches in Big Bend NP. If you wanted to use their WiFi you would have to bring your device to them so they could enter the password. That was odd so i didn't bother and my phone did just fine on the 3G network available.I would definitely stay here again.…
