We were put in the rooms across the highway from the lobby. The room was not acceptable in that the sink had several burn marks, the shower faucet dripped constantly, the air conditioner was noisy so we turned it off. The blanket had a hole in it and the wash cloth had a stain. The AC was worked on the next day but the weather turned cooler so we didn't need it after that. For the price and the association with the National Park Reservation Service, one would expect better than what we experienced.
My wife and I from Manitoba Canada had stayed here couple years ago and had a pleasant experience so decided to stay here again in February 2022. Turns out we had couple small complaints with the room the first night we stayed. We complained to the manger of the issues and wow this guy sees to it that your issues are corrected. We were quite impressed with how he looked after us. Our second night was all good. We do think it is quite pricey for what you are getting but not lots of choices in this area. Would stay here again on account of how the manager looked after us. Very impressed with this man.
How this dump has three stars I don’t know. $139/night, + tax and they can’t even keep the lights on. Staff constantly pester guests about the 5mph speed limit. The staff is unfriendly and rude. The room is lower quality than a hunter’s motel.
We stayed in an RV in the campground with full hookups, level gravel site. The employees were very friendly and helpful. We were there for 5 days and did not use the cafe or laundromat. Like most campgrounds the wifi was very sketchy as was our Verizon cell service. Our friends with AT&T fared much better. It was a good place to use as a base for exploring Big Bend National Park and the surrounding area.
I just got back from visiting Big Bend National Park and there's not many accommodations out there for a big group of 6 that we had. Luckily at this place there's a 3 bedroom option perfect for our group called the "casa" when you are on the reservation page. There's only 1 casa on the property so if it's booked then it won't show up for the dates you are looking for. It sits on top of the hill and the road to get there is dark and not well lit at all so be careful when you are driving at night. It's a very dated property and we didn't have much expectation knowing what we had to choose from and were just happy to have a place to sleep. The main issue we had was the water pressure of the showers were horrible and the first night we thought it was because both showers were running so the 2nd night we made sure only 1 person showered at a time. But we realized after testing that out that the water pressure is super low (it felt like rain when it sprinkles) and you just had to learn how to take a fast shower and get out. It was really cold that weekend and the heater works really well. The WiFi was also very weak and my friends needed to do some work and they couldn't. The property has a gas station and small restaurant if you need food and there's a small store also attached. There's a town nearby that they call the "Ghost Town' where you'll find most of the restaurants and go to the ones that look busy. We went to a taqueria and the food was good but service was ok - again have low expectations. There's a very popular restaurant called Starlight Theater that has about a 2 hour wait so don't go there hungry. It's the only nice restaurant in the area so everyone goes there and the food was pretty good and on the pricey side. We knew this area had limited everything, but we enjoyed the park and that's what we went for.…
