The property consists of several buildings and some of them must be avoided at all costs. Building 4 as an example, faces airport and bridge directly - the traffic noise and the LED lights of airport would make you feel like you are inside of prison yard(if you like that sort of thing, of course!) The website does advertise that building as being close to the pool. Stay away from anything that says: "close to the pool" as those are the worst ones. Best buildings are 7 and 8 - up the hill. In my opinion, ground floor is far better choice than floor two or three, as only from ground floor you can hear waves of water (plus you do not have to hike stairs with your luggage), ground floor as well is best at blocking noise of pool's activities. Sounds travel far at this secluded resort. Be prepared to be awaken by sounds of nature - roosters love talking to each other rather early in the morning hours. If you adore cats - it is the place to pet them, they are well taken care of by the resort and vet is checking on them occasionally, they are not feral! So if you see one, say 'Hi", and do not chase any of them - they will come to you if they like you (might even follow you into your room!) Front desk is not trained properly in customer skills(not only agents but even supervisors have a lack of hospitality), and they might give you a hard time if you experience any inconvenience at their property. Instead of listening, they will meet you with some hostility, would even try to teach you manners( yes, you might feel that you are indeed in some half-way house for instance and you are being schooled by a parole officer!) Otherwise it has little joyful things people are looking for - pool, Jacuzzi, a beautiful cave, spa, a small private beach with pristine water of bay. Bring ear plugs as most rooms are joining and walls are paper thin. Housekeeping doing a great job as all rooms I found being in immaculate state. Kitchen is mediocre at best, but when you are hungry - that does not matter of course. I would of rated this resort as 4 star but customer service is non existent. Look elsewhere. P.S. Best feature: resort does care about well being of animals and birds! For an animal lover it is a paradise!

Stayed 8 nights here, our first time in Bermuda. Firstly, location was excellent. Close to the airport but not a noise annoyance. On great bus routes with stops outside for getting around the island- the all inclusive deal included a ferry/bus pass which was just great. Hotel is also walking distance to the railway trail to Hamilton and the Crystal Caves. One pub nearby if you want a change of scene. The hotel itself is set on a very pretty hillside with views of the turquoise bay and island. It has a beach on site and is very pleasant just to sit in the lovely gardens with chickens and cats pottering about. Our room was great with an amazing view of the bay. Cleaned daily, comfortable seating area and good shower. Powerful WiFi. We had the all inclusive deal - probably ate and drank more than we should but that is because the food was DELICIOUS and varied at every meal. Staff were just lovely and Paul the egg chef was superb as was Veronica who saw to our every need. Also very friendly night manager David. Staff had time to chat. On our last day, because it was the low season, we could stay in our room (til 6) until our evening flight, free of charge. That was a real bonus. Played tennis and used the gym as well as the beautiful Cathedral Caves for a dip if you wanted. Some entertainment at night- DJ and guitarist. Overall, we would recommend this hotel and we are already planning our next visit.

My friend and I visited Bermuda last year in early May. We loved it. The BA flight was excellent and the airport just a few moments away by car (yet no airport noise at all) from the excellen t Grotto Bay Beach Hotel. We were all inclusive and all the food and wines were excellent. We could have eaten all day had we wanted! Bus and ferry tickets were included in the price to enable us to travel all over the island. We can’t wait to go back. Also, everyone was friendly and helpful. The weather was glorious. If we had been eating and drinking outside the hotel, however, I’m sure our costs would have been much higher! The pools were great and the sea bathing lovely.

Spent 3 nights at this resort and had a great time relaxing after hectic holidays. The resort is located 5 minutes from the airport. The staff is exceptionally friendly and the food was delicious. We had the all-inclusive plan and it was great. The breakfast buffet is top notch, with plenty to eat. The portions were ample in the restaurants. The rooms are clean and every room has a view of the bay. The bed was comfortable as well. Take advantage of the bus pass. We went into Hamilton on the bus. It stops right in front of the hotel. The beach, while small, was adequate. Some people were swimming, but it is considered chilly this time of year. The weather was in the upper sixties and sunny, so it was not swimming weather for me. The pool is heated and there is a small jacuzzi on the property. There were people of all ages, from seniors to families with young children. Since this is built on a hill overlooking the bay, I'm not sure that it would be easy for someone with mobility issues (I don't think you could get a wheelchair on the beach, for instance). Overall, I would rate it a 4.5. I would definitely like to go back. I don't know what is is like during the busy season, but it was ideal for a long weekend (we only had a 2 hour flight to get there).

Dear Loredana, Although we are probably the most family friendly resort in Bermuda and have a number of activities for all we cater more to adults and couples except for school vacation breaks. Hope this helps. Regards, JP Martens

It is close to a major road where you can hop on a bus and super close to the airport. The resort itself is far enough that there is no noise from the road.

Are there any shops on property? If not, are there nearby? Or do you have to taxi to downtown Hamilton?
There is only a small gift shop on the property. You will need to go to downtown Hamilton by taxi or bus. St. George has a few small shops which is to your left when you exit the property and then go across the bridge. For the best shopping go to Hamilton.
