It is well maintained inside and out; painting of the exterior was on-going in a careful manner.
Nelli at the desk got us checked in and feeling appreciated.
The lobby was open and had style; it was not a cookie cutter design.
The room was nicely furnished and quiet. The bathroom did seem a trifle small.
We forgot several items in our car and the valet efficiently retrieved them for us. Note - if there had been a baggage cart available, we probably would have gotten everything when we checked in.
The area was safe. For two college baseball games, my friend and I walked to Minute Maid Park at 3 PM and returned at 11 PM with no hassle - but did see several homeless sleeping in nooks along the way. We could have taken the shuttle, but wanted the exercise (1.5 mile each way).
The most troubling thing was trying to deal with Houston's one way streets and a nearby interstate. I think it took me three loops to get to the hotel entrance.

The staff is very welcoming and courteous. Very clean establishment, friendly and exceptional customer service! Many establishments don’t allow people who are not their guest to use their facilities. I really appreciate the courtesy of allowing Metro Drivers (public servants) to use your facilities when needed! Thank you!

The hotel is a throwback, not in a bad way though. There is an old school charm - and though to some it can feel dated and in some areas it is (my room furniture) - there are some charming things that sometimes I feel are lost in today's world and nice to see again - roomy rooms, a pack of local cookies on the desk (though not really the type I'd been rushing to eat) incredibly pleasant and helpful staff, and reasonable prices (though I do feel this is subjective). What I would have liked: a robe in my room, some tea options (though I looked I think I only saw coffee!). I loved that the hotel is part of a chain that believes in giving back and is eco-conscious. Give up your housekeeping and get a $10 food credit per day! Smart as it keeps you in the hotel for dining! Note, if you are so inclined, it's always nice to leave a tip for the housekeeping staff regardless. The location is in the business area. The staff is knowledgeable and patient there are great recommendations for shopping (including vintage stores which I asked about - in keeping with the theme!). Like others have said the rooms near the elevator are noisier (but that did not bother me). I did love the blackout shades. The food was nice but I would like to able to sit down and place an order, rather than order at the counter and have the food brought. I was in a few places here like that. Seems to be more of a Texas thing. All in all, it's a nice place to stay. Even if only because you may be the type of guest that needs to be seen and heard - the staff again are the real accomplishment here - ready to interact and assist.

Had lunch with my family at Edgar's Hermano. The waiter, Azadene, was very attentive and patient with us. The restaurant is very clean and quiet - easy to have conversations over appetizers. We sampled many of the appetizers, all freshly made (guacamole, salsas, queso, taquitos, empanadas) - loved them all! Main courses came out - various salads, burgers, and tacos were enjoyed. Not a single compliant at the table, and there were 9 of us. We topped it off with dessert. I can't stop thinking about the fried cinnamon apple pie!! I highly recommend to anyone who finds themselves downtown near The Whitehall Hotel. And, if you aren't in the area, there is complimentary parking at the hotel valet stand - Edgar's will validate your parking.

Despite location, hotel stay was not pleasant. As a former hotel inspector, the hotel room/service, and decor needs updated and detail cleaning. The rating of the hotel does not match what you‘d pay for. Even my husband, who has done his fair share of traveling felt the rooms needed much improvement. There was a lot of mold/mildew and stains all over walls and furnishings and for 186 dollars a night, not including tax. The bathroom was cramped, barely any room for two people to move comfortably about in and out. The outside bar was nice and cozy, a break from the nightmare we tried to make the most. They do not do refunds which is why we were forced to stay. I had hair on my food the first day to which I was gifted a complimentary dessert, the shower water was not hot…more like lukewarm. Front desk, cared more about the appearance of put together than providing good customer service. They need to work on their customer service, in the absence of their manager being present. We had to asked politely for cleaned/refreshed rooms twice and was responded with attitude and nonchalantness. The valets tenants were the only pleasantries of our stay here at white hall. I paid for amenities that was included in a package deal that I was not granted and was told that I should have asked “again” for it when I had already asked about it on the twice during initial check in, the previous day. The hotel was not at all classy but dusty and broken down. My husband and I left feeling like we had stayed in a motel six instead. Take my advice and try and your hotel luck somewhere else.

The staff are exceptional at the white hall. Shirley and Ni made the experience easier and answered all of my questions.
The hotel is beautiful on the inside. Rooms are nice but noise might be a slight issue depending on folks in the hallway. The beds were comfortable just be aware the pillows are tall and dense so consider bringing your own.
If you're there for a passport white hall is 0.1 miles away from the passport agency so you can simply walk there.

Nice location! Too overpriced!! Not what I expected for the price I paid for 2 nights! When I booked my room I was not notified that they didn’t take prepare cards. I had to go to the atm machine which charged me $4 per transaction because you can’t get over $200 a transaction. I paid for breakfast and the breakfast did not meet my expectations due to the price me and my husband had paid it was not worth it at all! I would rather eat hotcakes and sausage from McDonald’s. At least i would be satisfied. It’s a limit on what you can get even though you have paid for it. I also paid in advance for drinks there was a limit on that also. It was very overpriced and not meeting any expectations that the website had given. They make you pay for valet parking which is not mentioned when you book your stay. it’s $40 a nite and if they charge your car does $43 a night. They also charge an extra $50 a night for damages. Which won’t be refunded until 3/5 days later after checking out. They don’t mention that either when booking. The rooms don’t have any refrigerators or microwaves in the rooms. So if you have any leftover food from the restaurants you visit you won’t be able to save it for later. The pool as closed when we got there that Friday and there was no type of sympathy for the ones who came to enjoy the pool after traveling. The pool was not how it looked on the website. The water had trash in it. Everything at the hotel close at 10. All bars and restaurants (which is not really a restaurant). The pool close at 10pm. I requested housekeeping to make my bed that Saturday and when I returned to the room all I had was more towels. This was not a good experience for me and I paid $513 for two nights. I’ll rather stay at Homewood Suites they have a better quality overall!!

I stayed at the Whitehall in Houston last week on business. From the moment I pulled up to the moment I left several days later, the experience was terrific. John Flores, the manager, was so responsive. I left some things in my room when I checked out, and John made sure they are on their way to me! The room was nice, and it was easy to get it to the temperature I like, without a lot of noise or bad smell like other hotels A/C systems sometimes have. The valet and bell hop staff were responsive and cared for my belongings well. My company had big meetings in the hotel, and the setup was great. No tech glitches. Food served was excellent. I would definitely stay there again.

The check. in desk you can't hardly understand some of them ,the bathroom was very small and is in need of a do over ceiling looked awful toilet seat is like sitting on the floor ! door jam is damaged not much of a place to put your toiletries .The crown molding is pulled away from the ceiling wasn't caulked around it. Also we went to a concert (toyota CTR) they shuttled us there but we told they don't come back to get you past eleven pm --well most concerts or events sometimes go past that and it should be if they take you there then they should come and get you whatever time it is! Then as we were checking out they tried to charge us $30. for wine which we don't even drink wine !! they did remove that charge but we had to argue with the receptionist! We will never go back to the Whitehall Hotel again and will not reccommend this place!! we'll go to the Hilton next time.

Hello, the hotel has a dry cleaning service that picks up the clothes early the morning and brings them back in the evening. However, there is a self dry cleaning place few blocks away from the hotel; the hotel shuttle could take you there to clean your clothes.
Yes, the parking was $32 for overnight, per night. There were plenty of places to eat, especially for a family within walking distance. As for attractions, nothing is too far especially being directly of of interstate 45. There are a ton of museums, zoo, aquarium, in Houston to visit. You could purchase a city hopper booklet online. My children are older now, but we used to travel here for museums etc. You will enjoy it!!
There are more places to choose from in the Houston area.
