The Houstonian is our local staycation destination from now on! We celebrated our daughters birthday here with friends and family. Our host accommodated us as soon we booked. A host was provided via text message and asked if we had any special request or services needed. Furthermore my daughter was greeted and felt special by the staff our entire stay.. The property is amazing for families from my experience there was so much stuff to keep us all busy from the state of the art gym, workout classes, yoga, suana, steam rooms… I can go on and on tennis! basketball court! Boutique was one of best I’ve seen! Great selection of brands. We even dropped the kids (under 6) off at the kids bungalow and Mommy and Daddy had a very pleasant Spa day. Property is well maintained and clean. Everything we could’ve asked for and more. My daughters all had a blast and now the older twin sisters want to celebrate their coming bdays in the summer! Expect a follow up review from us too! Been to a lot of resorts lately and all I hear is “sorry sorry sorry” short staff, this is not working, we don’t have that, no room service, blah blah blah…. Not the HOUSTONIAN! Everything works! And is functional! Pool! Hot tub! Suana!! Steam!! Showers!! Fresh linens and towels!! Huge plus for me and my family! So we appreciate!! And pay for it! Thanks to the staff for an amazing time! See ya soon……
Absolutely the most welcoming and beautiful hotel in Houston! I have stayed here for 30 years and just love returning to familier faces, new rooms and delicious dinners! Special resort in every way! Mimi Smith Austin, Texas
The food was horrible. Felt like I was in a senior living facility. Don’t order any food and you will be okay. I would say go out to eat because they even charge you so much for such crappy food. Very disappointed.
My stay was absolutely amazing! First class hotel and employees. Highly recommend staying at this hotel! My son’s wedding reception was held in the ballroom and everything was just perfect. The food was delicious in every restaurant we ate in!
Spent a few days at this hotel for work. It’s a bit outside of the main downtown area and surrounded by greenery. Had a perfect stay. The room was big and well appointed. The restaurant was good. Definitely recommended.
The Houstonian can be truly described as a "destination vacation" in the heart of Mid-Town Houston. Whether you are looking for a relaxing weekend, a place for an exceptionally comfortable business conference or a special event venue, the Houstonian provides the ingredients for an enjoyable experience. The Club is spectacular for your workout and the dining options are excellent. The Spa is one of the nicest I have had the pleasure of experiencing. I highly recommend a visit to this wonderful "resort".
We had a great weekend and really liked having a shuttle service to dinner. There could have been better food options at the spa if you’re spending an entire day with several services. The outside soaking pools could be a lot hotter. They were warm at best.
While attending a wedding, another guest made a complaint against me. Security attempted to escort me off the property, threatening legal action. I made it clear that I had a room and was invited to the wedding.
Great club. Kids love it. Lots amenities. Locker room Is clean. New renovations are must see. Love the restaurant and the tennis courts and pickleball courts. Just wish they had more things for teens not just little kids. Activities are plenty and up to date equipment
Couldn't be more disappointed with our experience at the hotel here for NYE 2022. I'm a Houston resident and my wife has been to the spa several times before, and I've been to the club before with a friend. This hotel has a nice campus and boasts a top rating as a Texas resort by Travel and Leisure due to their amenities (club, spa etc). So we decided to do a staycation and stay 2 nights here for New Years weekend with the plan to spend New Years eve at the spa and club. After all, the big draw here are the amenities. Checked in Friday night -- everyone was friendly. Nice decor in the lobby, and room was clean (albeit small, shower had lower water pressure, and the sink was unable to get hot water). Saturday AM we woke up leisurely, had breakfast and had a few spa treatments, then we excitedly went back to our room and got ready to spend all afternoon at the club to work out and lounge in the resort pools. To our shock, the club and pools were closed. A security guard said they closed at 2 pm (this was about 2:30 pm). This was an absolute gut punch. The whole reason we booked our stay was to stay at the club Saturday. When we booked the room, we got an email touting the hotels club and spa amenities. The night before, when we checked in, the hotel staff was mentioning how awesome the pools have been with the warmer weather and that we should check it out Saturday. Not a single mention that it was closing early for New Years. On the website, the Saturday hours said 6 am to 9 pm. No mention of closing early for New Years. No one told us anything at all. When I talked to the staff about it, I was offered a free breakfast the next morning, a nice gesture but we weren't able to take advantage of it (already had outside breakfast plans that morning) and in no way did that make up for the ruined experience. Beyond that no one seemed to care. We couldn't be more frustrated and disappointed. At that point, we were stuck in the hotel with no amenities and just decided to go spend the afternoon and evening outside the hotel. We had to leave early the next morning, and spend $600 a night for pretty much a small room with no amenities. I felt like it was a massive blunder that the it was not communicated to us the club and pools were closing early. Had I at least known I would have went first thing in the morning to use it before it closed. I would not stay at this hotel ever again and would not recommend it to anyone for the price. …
