We stayed for 2 nights during the epic Houston ice/snow event last week. We were welcomed by a caring staff many of whom were dealing with their own home issues. The property was full, Covid was still an issue and most everyone at the hotel was displaced due to lack of power and water. The property itself was more than adequate and location is excellent as we also lived nearby so could check on our home and see if there was damage that needed addressing. There was plenty of space to eat downstairs, a handy microwave and a basic cold breakfast (the restaurant was closed during the storm). But, what set this property apart, was the generous and empathetic staff, especially Heather. They were understanding, professional, courteous and extremely accommodating. Thank you for being a bright spot in a very long and hectic week.

This hotel staff (especially Heather at the front desk) went above and beyond to make sure my family and extended family that were staying at the hotel were taken care of. We had to stay for a week due to the storm and every one of the hotel employees were so kind, compassionate, friendly and helpful. Even with the boil water notice in the area, they still have some sort of breakfast for their guests. The level of hospitality was exceptional! Highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting the Galleria area, Houston or just needing a stay--cation.
Thank you so much to everyone who made my family feel safe and healthy.

There’s not enough I can say about my visit. After a long drive from Atlanta, I can truly say that it was well worth it. The greeting from the staff was very welcoming and inviting at check in. Excellent customer service is very important to me and the staff exceeded my expectations. Kudos to their manager because a staff is only good as it’s lead! My room (especially the bed) was very comfortable which made me want to stay longer. Thank you all for making my stay feel like a home away from home! Happy New Year!

I just stayed at this hotel, first Marriott since January 2020. Marriott has definitely gone down. There is a sign outside and everywhere saying masks should be worn in all public areas. That is clearly not enforced. People make their check in with out masks, we even were in the elevator with an employee not wearing a mask.
Breakfast at the bistro cannot be called breakfast, some apple and oranges, yogurt, muffins and granola bars. My son just stayed at the new Courtyard by the airport and he said the bistro was working with a reduced menu.
Room cleaning is not offered during your stay, they say because of Covid, but if they don't enforce mask wearing anywhere, I think it's to save money as well as with the bistro.
I have stayed at other hotels in the last few months and dined at restaurants and the service is much better, even with Covid, than at this Marriott.
The rooms are old and the hotel is not well kept in general...
I will not be staying at any Marriott anytime soon even though I am a Gold Member.

Courtyard review

This is by far the worst Courtyard we have ever stayed at. It is the worst hotel we have stayed at within the Marriott chain.

It is such a dated hotel - the rooms smell musky, the carpets leave your socks dirty, there is only one plug at each side of the bed…

We asked for a crib and it came without a mattress. It was just slats inside a liner making it impossible to sleep on. When we complained about it the housekeeper tried to make a makeshift mattress with sheets and blankets but having loose blankets in a crib is dangerous. The housekeeper said that every person who requests a crib ends up complaining about it and that he’s told his manager that they need to buy some mattresses but that nothing is being done about it. Perfect. We had a terrible night.

We had to move rooms as well because some partiers were smoking weed in their rooms/stairwells making the whole floor reek of weed smell. Did it help that we moved to a different room on a different floor? No it did not.

They tested the fire alarm on Sunday at 7.30pm….

The AC in the rooms is incredibly loud. I had to sleep with earplugs and yet I heard it as if I had nothing in. Way too loud.

The pool is so rusty and old that you think you’ll catch something going in. We didn’t even try the whirlpool as it had particles swimming in it and was extremely rusty. Everything just looks neglected. However, towel rack was stocked up and clean.

The only reason I’m giving the hotel 2 stars instead of 1 is because of he housekeeping staff. They were extremely friendly and tried their best to help us out with the tools they had available. Especially the lady with the curly/wavy short hair. Whenever we needed towels they also came up very quickly (within 5 mins).

We booked the parking package and they sent us the bill with the package as well as $21 parking for each day. Good thing we checked the bill!

Stay away from this hotel. Go anywhere else!!

The Hotel is dated. We asked to change rooms since the walls are paper thin and our next door neighbors were extremely loud. The breakfast is lousy: Yogurt, Apples/Oranges & Bananas, Blueberry Muffin and a Chocolate Chip Granola Bar + Coffee. There is no daily cleaning service due to Covid. And there is no SAFE in the room!!! Not sure how this is possible in 2021. We were scared to leave our passports and laptops/tablets in the room because of this...

We learned that groups make their way from New Orleans to Houston on the weekends and continue to party in their rooms. We complained to the front desk of loud music and banging and to our surprise the security person was complacent to the partying neighbor’s (to say the least) and the front desk offered, after several calls, and at 3AM to move us, but required us to pay for a second room (after 30 minutes they conceded but wanted to us to pack and move our stuff to the new room) . Incredible experience for a social psychologist but terrible for a insomniac father and husband after a redeye flight. We understand Hotels need the extra revenue after CV19, but you would expect a minimum amount of decency and civility a basic for minimum congenial relations. May I suggest advertising as a Party Hotel and let families stay elsewhere?? , or at least segment your market and make some floors "sleep friendly". The ambiance is gloomy with memorabilia from the parties left around and strange characters looming around, I would not stay there if they offered nights for free. (¡¡You´ve been warned !!)

I stayed here two nights either side of a trip up north; a Tuesday and a Saturday. They were two very different experiences. My first Tuesday stay was relaxing with courteous staff. I was assigned a high floor away from elevator as requested.

My second Saturday stay check in was late and front desk not really happy about their job. Initially they assigned me a low floor next to elevator. I requested high floor away from elevator. Reaction was surly with instant attitude problem. My eventual room was high floor away from elevator. During check in there were a couple of large groups of folks in lobby shouting at each other (talking loudly). Despite my concern, I was not disturbed during the night. Front desk staff on check out were friendly and courteous.

No guests were wearing masks except me. And elevator was crammed with unmasked people. Welcome to Houston.

The bistro was open for breakfast and their breakfast sandwich was high quality and served quickly.

I have stayed here dozens of times over the years and always received quality rooms and service due to my Marriott status. Hopefully this hotel will be back up to its high standards soon.

We had a very lackluster hotel experience this past week at the Courtyard-Galleria. First impression walking into our room was mediocre. It was kind of dingy, smelly, and humid. The smell never let up, and the humidity never changed with lowering the temperature.

The pillows were very uncomfortable and offered no support, the shower head was kind of old/broken and kept spewing water out the side getting the bathroom floor wet.

The breakfast was laughable. Granola bars and Otis spunkmeyer muffins, bruised apples and unripened oranges, really bad coffee with coffee grinds all in the coffee and no other choices for drinks. What hotel doesn’t even offer water as part of the breakfast?

I will never stay here again and I will tell everyone I know to not come here either. It’s too bad too bc I don’t live too far and I know lots of people who go to Houston for a little getaway.

Hello, Thank you so much for staying with us and taking the time to share your feedback. I am so sorry that you had some issues in your room. I assure you I will share your comments with those departments and get those items taken care of. Regarding the Breakfast, we are hopeful that our Bistro Restaurant will open again soon. In the meantime we are providing the complimentary Grab & Go Breakfast which I know is quite minimal but we wanted to make sure our guests have at least a little something in the morning. We do hope you will give us another chance when things return to normal. Thank you again! Sincerely, Adam P. General Manager

I want everyone to know how this property treats Lifetime Titanium Elite members. They do not care about your status. I stayed at this property a minimum of 50 nights per year pre-Covid and the management staff was great. Now, they could care less about you. I booked through the app and put that I was checking in at 10:00 am. No one called or sent me a message that I couldn't check in that early. Instead, I show up from an early morning flight ready to check in so I could change for my appointment and they informed me I couldn't check in. I told them I had to have a room so I had to book with the Aloft down the street and when I went in to cancel the room, they said no problem BUT, they didn't tell me that they would be charging me $140 cancellation fee, when it was their fault. I will never book with them again until they credit me what they stole from me.
