Bed was as hard as a rock- two rooms same night -the same. Felt like sleeping on a box spring. Desk staff has notes in computer that certain beds have complaints or were old so if you stay - be sure to ask in advance for comfort. Floral odor of the room was unpleasant. Reviews about stained dirty carpet were spot on- halls worse than rooms but expect to keep your shoes on at all times- socks would be ruined. The breakfast was good and the day staff was friendly. Shuttle services not as described. Older run down - expected better accommodations with Marriott brand. Would not recommend.
I have been traveling the world for 35 years in 37 countries. I have always relied on the Marriott Brand for clean, well run, and safe lodging. This location has none of that! First the establishment is under renovation, but it looks like the project has been ongoing for quite some time. The first issue was the parking lot. Filthy parking area with overflowing trash cans everywhere. The lobby has temporary paper signs plastered to the glass entrance. The carpet in the lobby is filthy. Half the lights in my room do not work. Does this mean that housekeeping did not report them, or there is no money to replace light fixtures? Every fire door is propped open to the stairwells daily. Finally the excercise room has no water, no towels, and no cleaning wipes. The workout equipment is stained with spilled liquids (and it is not water)! The only saving grace is the front desk people are very friendly.…
Hotel industry has stopped caring in this post-covid world, and it clearly shows when you check-in to your room in this hotel. Nothing is cleaned in between the check-ins, including bathrooms. The beds were made, and towels were replaced, and that's about it. The worst offender was the bathroom, which greets you with black mold, unclean commode, and dirty shower curtains. Breakfast is a spread of processed foods, where even bread is too healthy, and so it is no longer offered as an option. The only great thing about my stay here was that it was only for two nights.
While the folks at the desk were nice enough, and the location was what we needed, this hotel was surprisingly disappointing. I always ask for a quiet room --higher floor away from the elevators. The young man at the desk said he had the perfect room. I found the room clean and well-maintained, but as soon as the AC kicked on, it sounded like an airplane was taking off and I was sitting in its path on the runway. I called to complain and was given another room. THIS room had been used HARD sometime in the past. The carpet was torn and stained, the coffee table was chipped and scratched. When we took the couch cushion off to make up the couch bed, we discovered that one cushion was completely torn open at the back, and the mattress on the couch bed was stained red and green--kind of like someone had a fight with powdered jello?? The bathroom sink doesn't have soap--but instead three (3?!!) packets of alcohol hand wipes. There were three of us in the room for three days...that wasn't going to work very well. The shower has the large, attached (well, sort of) shampoo, conditioner and soap dispensers. The shampoo one fell off the wall while we were out on day 2. And while the AC WAS quieter in this room, it still sounded like a jet airplane was taking off every time it turned on. At least this was more like I was hearing it from inside the airport than on the runway. This room requires some serious attention and repair. I've stayed at many Residence Inns in the past, and never seen one with a room in this condition.…
Take with a grain of salt those that give this property 4 or 5 stars. . The property is in desperate need of updating. The hallways have absolutely no air so when you leave your room, the humidity in the hallway is awful. The "free breakfast" is horrible. They no longer are providing eggs, waffle making, etc. they are only providing something that looks vinyl or is disgusting. The carpet is in desperate need of cleaning and the elevator sounds like it's about to breakdown when it reaches (thankfully) each floor. Our bathroom had a cracked sink and the A/C vent is positioned in line with the kitchen table, so your food gets cold within minutes of sitting down to eat. The pillowcases are also very itchy. We will never stay at this property again and advise all others to do not so.…
Not only will this hotel preemptly pre-charge your credit card without warning or notification, but they will then make it extremely difficult to even receive any written acknowledgment. My employer forbids pre-charges to my hotel stays and even though the hotel never notified me that they changed their policy with regards to this before or when they pre-charged me, the very unprofessional Director of Operations made it extremely difficult to even receive official acknowledgment for me to reference to my employer. I was forced to get Marriott Corporate involved and wasted hours of time and energy in eventually getting this resolved. Horrible customer service from a very ill-equipped Director of Operations. In addition, the hotel in general is fairly run-down and the quality of the rooms is quite lacking. Not what I would usually expect from a Marriott property but there must always been a poor performer in any group so this hotel certainly fulfills that need! As an Ambassador member, I will never be returning to this poorly run/managed hotel ever again as there are a myriad of better Marriott properties in this vicinity to stay at!…
Such a breath of fresh air! The rooms are so spacious. We have our cats with us and they have plenty of room. The AC is on point! The kitchenette is perfect. They don’t have an oven, but they have a refrigerator, 2 eyelets, a dishwasher, and a microwave. It’s really a much needed sanctuary for a lot of people right now.
Hello- I have traveled to Houston several times over the past few months and stayed at several hotels in the area. Each time I have stayed representatives have met the minimum requirements required to host their guest. When I checked in at the Residence Inn Park Row it was different. Nikolas Magill made the difference for me. Nikolas greeted me by name and made me feel like I was the guest of an exclusive hotel! He was extremely accommodating and attentive. I casually mentioned that my phone battery was dying and he graciously located a charger for me to use. He even called the janitors by name when I had inquired about some amenities. I knew he placed value in not only his patrons but his coworkers as well. The housekeeping staff was very accommodating as well when I stopped to ask for more towels. Everyone was happy to help and I was always greeted with a smile. I stay at Marriott hotels mainly but I can assure you that because of the standard of hospitality that this hotel provided I will return here again, many times over. Yes, these things may be standard practices but when it stands out among the competitors it’s worth noting.…
I will start with the good. The rooms are modern and clean. The bed is firm enough that you don’t leave with your back hurting. The air conditioning works great. We got to the room though and noticed not one but 4 different lights that didn’t work. One light bulb was gone, two were burnt out and one fixture simply didn’t work. We called down to the front desk. The clerk said she would have maintenance come by at 8:00 in the morning. We made do with the one light that worked and our flashlights we brought. Went to bed but at 11:45 the front desk called to see if we had a vehicle with a trailer that was taking up more than one space or were parking in the tow away zone. We said no. What hotels calls their guests in the middle of the night asking about cars! It ends up the hotel does not have enough parking for it’s guests…people were parking where they could. The next morning, maintenance did not show up. Went to call the front desk and the phones are out. Went downstairs to take care of the lights and phone issue but no one was there. Two people were waiting for the front desk clerk. There was a sign that said the clerk was helping a guest and would be right back. Only one clerk on in the morning is too few especially if people want to check out. I tried using a phone in the hall but it also was not working. Went back to the room. A couple of hours later the phones were working. When I called the front desk they said they were not informed from the previous shift about our issues with the lights. The maintenance person did come and he fixed all lights except one because the led light bulb was not in his stock. Haven’t they heard about Lowe’s or Home Depot? We just kept on saying “saying” really after each incident. There is a Holiday Inn Express that I can see out my hotel window…maybe that would have been better.…
During the freeze in Houston my girlfriend and I were staying at Marriot Residence Inn at I-10 and Parkrow(where we have actually lived over 9 months after we both lost our mates.) We fared fairly well despite not having electricity or water! The staff at this Hotel were very helpful and professional during this week, especially Mr George Drumheller head of Maintenance, his assistant John, a hard working young man who I am hoping will rise to the top of the ladder in Marriott someday! Thank you for making our lives easier.
