Thompson Houston by Hyatt garners acclaim for its array of high-quality amenities, including a luxury spa and a handy house car service. The hotel's spotless condition and chic ambiance complement the stylish and comfortable accommodations it provides. While the rooms are celebrated for their modern luxury and impressive views, guests suggest that non-suite rooms may feel a bit compact.
The staff's attentive service is widely appreciated, although occasional inconsistencies are noted. The hotel's location is a highlight, offering convenience to urban attractions, yet prices can prompt mixed feelings due to unexpected charges.

We chose the Thompson based primarily on its location — directly on the route for the 2024 Art Car Parade — but the gorgeous rooms, delicious dining options and sublime spa treatments are just a few of the reasons we hope to return. I hadn’t planned to take advantage of the spa services, but the staff was very accommodating and managed to work me in for a 70-minute Clean & Calm Facial, which included a highly targeted facial massage that made even the tiniest muscles of my face feel energized and refreshed. (Thank you, Gigi!) We also enjoyed having the complimentary House Car to get us to a local club and brewery without the hassles of driving and parking. I’d be thrilled to stay here again!

The Houston Thompson Review
The Hotel opened on the 14th, my stay was the 16-18th. Let me start with saying the Hotel is beautiful, easy to get to from Katy and has great views of downtown Houston or the park across the street. What stands out to me most was the great customer service I received. I was treated like ‘Royalty” this easily compares with Il Tornabuoni in Florence, Park Hyatt Sydney and Park Hyatt Milan in customer service which are my top 3 in that category. I have stayed at close to 130 different Hyatt properties.
1 Bedroom Bayou Park Suite, I used points and a SUA that was going to expire at the end of the month. What was new for me it when I called the Globalist line to apply my SUA I was transferred to Hyatt Luxury Line to get it applied. The room was fantastic.
They only have one restaurant opened at this time SOL 7, more will come online later this year. The foods that we tried were the Chips Salsa & Guacamole, they were really good and all homemade ( I am Mexican and lived in Texas all my life) so I know the real deal. The Fried Misto some of the best I have ever had, the Charcuterie plate had wonderful cheese and came with toasted bread it paired very well with the Rose on the wine list.
Globalist Breakfast we took both days in our room. It was good just basic breakfast, they came very quickly all the charges were picked up as a Globalist as was the valet.
The VIP supervisor arranged for us to have a couples massage in the room on Sunday morning as the Spa is not opened. The masseuses were great very good massage I thought the price was little of the high side.
I want to give especial shouts out Victor and Mary who made things happened. Also, for Phil and his staff for having the Charcuterie Plate available for us long after the bar had closed when we returned to the hotel late after the concert.
Really excited to have a Hyatt of this quality in the Houston area. I really do like the Thompson Brand. I think this hotel will do very well.

Stayed at the newly opened Thompson Houston this past weekend and absolutely loved the hotel itself. I think it’s a beautiful hotel in a great location just outside downtown Houston across from Buffalo Bayou Park. We had an overall great stay except for one matter regarding miscommunication of Globalist benefits that could have been handled better by staff.
When I originally inquired at the front desk about what the breakfast benefit covered, I was told it was one entree and one non alcoholic beverage per guest for up to 2 adults. Being a Hyatt loyalist, I am aware that each property can set specific rules regarding the breakfast benefit, which is why I asked, but the response was in line with Hyatt corporate T&Cs, so we had no reason to question it.
Upon check out, we were charged the “overages” for breakfast because we were then informed that the breakfast benefit only covers up to $60 per night. I told the young man at the front desk that is not what we were told initially, but he insisted that is the breakfast policy at that property and other Thompson properties. Whether that may or may not be so, no written or even verbal communication was provided to us mentioning $60 in any capacity, as far as we were told it was one entree and beverage for up to 2 adults. The gentleman continued to insist on the $60 limit and I did not press the issue further at the time because we were in a rush to get to the airport to catch our flight... I was not about to get into a he said/she said confrontation over a small matter — the overage was less than $20 — but it was frustrating for staff to even begin to engage in such a way before looking into the matter further.
I emailed the general manager and have not yet received a response as of this writing. Staff definitely needs more training regarding the policies of the property so there is no miscommunication and conflicting information provided to guests, and also more training regarding how to engage guests when issues do arise. However, I do acknowledge that my feelings may have been influenced by the stark contrast in excellent guest services provided by the Hyatt Regency Houston only a mile away from which we checked out just the day prior.
Overall loved the hotel, location, and most of the staff, but the handling of just one small matter left a bad impression giving me mixed feelings.

The Thompson Hotel was extremely nice. We enjoyed our stay very much. The service at the hotel was second to none. The concierge was very helpful in giving us recommendations for restaurants. The hotel offers a free of charge car service that will bring you to any location within 3 miles. The valet service was quick and easy. The rooms were extremely clean and well kept. The bathroom was very clean and towels all seemed brand new. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Houston.

This brand new Thompson just opened one week ago! They were still putting up wall art and filling up the pool when I arrived. I was so excited to stay at a brand new hotel!
My initial impression was mixed... I loved the freakishly large shower that could fit 6 people, the DS&Durga bath amenities, incredible views and signature quirky Thompson interior design throughout. But their non suite rooms are on the smaller end for US standards. Giant bathrooms but tight living space - I wish there was a small desk/chair in the room but I guess Thompson lifestyle guests don't work in their rooms? Beware their marketing materials on Instagram, FB, etc - those are pictures of their roomier suites. The non suite rooms are smaller and less bright. I was definitely disappointed at check in but was fine after resetting expectations. The rooms are still very nice and luxuriously decorated.
The hotel has a pair of complementary BMW house cars that will take you anywhere in a 3 mile radius (no pick up and it's first come first serve) and it's only a 5min ride to downtown Houston. They have valet parking. The pool and spa were not yet open when I visited but the gym was open - it was nicely set up.
The team is still working out their quirks. I messaged the team in advance via messenger as directed by their app and never received a response. At check in, I was told their system was booking rooms that aren't actually available. Front desk staff weren't fully knowledgeable about Hyatt elite member perks but free breakfast for Globalists were honored though upgrades were not proactively applied so you'll have to ask.
Hotel is pet friendly

We loved the location of the hotel, it was easy to reach Montrose and downtown for restaurants and museum district. Right across it was easy to go on walks and bike rides at buffalo bayou. The hotel was chic but comfortable, spacious bathrooms and bedrooms with artsy decor. Loved the eco friendly water bottles, the hotel has amazing downtown views and it’s the perfect setting to start an awesome exploration. We didn’t use the courtesy car and electric bikes but for anyone without a car, both would be fantastic!! We wish they had an electric bike for kids.
All staff at the hotel were extremely kind and hospitable!! Thank you!!!

This is an absolutely gorgeous property! I actually stumbled upon this property after an initial plan to stay at another Hyatt property. For many reasons I ended up leaving that property immediately after check in and proceeded to this gem. The service is top notch and definitely ranks as some of the best service experienced during domestic travel. The front desk team was probably some of the most helpful and genuinely nice staff that I have encountered. Tiffany was amazingly understanding at checkin when I explained the situation to her at the other property and was extremely accommodating when she did not have to be. At checkout, Kaneshia ensured that everything was in order and answered all of my questions regarding some charges that she assured me would be removed (and they were). Sol 7 (the restaurant) was also great! After only having one meal there I was greeted the next day with a smile and by name. Amazing customer service all around! The room was impeccably clean and very modern with great amenities. The roof top pool was awesome and the gym facility allows for a pretty decent workout. I am a Hyatt globalist member and their benefits generally include late checkout, breakfast at Sol 7, an upgraded room if available, and early check in if available. I received all of these benefits. I cannot wait until my next trip to the area as I already know where I will be staying!

Recently we had the opportunity to stay at the brand new Thompson Houston. We stayed in the amazing Bayou Suite which more than exceeded expectations. The spacious suite offered stunning views of Buffalo Bayou Park, and the palatial bathtub / shower / bathroom with floor to ceiling windows was magnificent. The wraparound windows in the living room was exceptional as well.
All that aside, what truly impressed us was the exceptional service.
Omar, the bellman, ensured a smooth arrival with his prompt and friendly service.
Charles, the house car driver, expertly navigated Houston's streets, ensuring a comfortable and efficient ride.
Kaneesha (and I hope I spelled it right!) at check-in was an absolute star. She made the entire process a breeze and even took care of things for us before we arrived at the hotel. Her professionalism made a huge difference in getting our stay off to a fantastic start.
Finally, the breakfast was truly delicious (loved the guac-y avocado toast!
The Thompson Houston provided a perfect blend of comfort, luxury, and exceptional service. I highly recommend it for anyone seeking a memorable and luxurious stay in Houston.

Came to this hotel for a staycation and it far exceeded all expectations I had and really blew us away. From the moment we arrived everything was so personalized and every interaction with staff was extraordinary! Victor B. at the Front Desk went above and beyond for ensure that everything was perfect, there was even a handwritten note and amenity waiting in the room when we arrived! Charles in Valet and Rachel in housekeeping were amazing as well. The property itself is beautiful, the location is great and the vibe in general is so amazing and we were treated like royalty the ENTIRE TIME! This hotel is a MUST stay and a one of a kind experience. Thank you Thompson Houston!
