My whole experience was a 7/10 . The hotel was beautiful..our room was nice, there was a couple things I didn’t like.. a stain on the couch in the room and the shower was a little stained. There is a
100$ a day security fee that they take out when you check in. They say breakfast is free but they charge you 17$ a day as an amenity fee for the pool/breakfast etc . Breakfast was ok as an hotel guest for “free” breakfast we can get the All American breakfast that consist of eggs, bacon,potatoes and toast, however the server/waitress in there was AMAZING. I’m pretty sure her name is Alma and she was the only one taking orders for everyone. She was very attentive and fast considering how much people are in there every morning. She was very sweet also. If I did decide to come back to the hotel I would only come for her !!

Brandie was able to accommodate our needs and turn our experience into a pleasant one by retaining our business. She did not miss any steps in the process of asking the right discovery questions to better address the reasons why we want to leave to another hotel. Her willingness to understand her customers and go the extra mile to prove the value in what we purchased was a complete game changer. We left with a smile and feeling heard/understood. The breakfast was outstanding.
Alma was attentive to me I was traveling alone, and it was good to have a friendly face in the dining room, and the breakfast was so good and she always she recognized me each day that I came down. She spoke to me like she knew me and I really appreciated that I’d give her five stars.

TERRIBLE STAY from the start to the end. Extremely poor customer service at check-in. Being ask “ID” instead of may I have your ID please , no I D contact , no friendliness. A hold of almost $300 was put of my credit cards (not debit) and $27 per night for “amnesties”
Their so called free breakfast is not a buffet, you get 1 options of 2 eggs and toast and that’s it! Too bad if you need to get up early, it’s only available at 8:00 am. By 9:00 am, there is only 2 staff working and a line of 20 people waiting to to be served . No microwave in the room and the light blocker curtains in the room, all shades you will have to spend 15 minute to pull down and up. Finally, on the morning of leaving, I réalisé no hair dryer, I am getting ready to catch a flight and I request downstairs an urgent blow dryer… 25 min later still nothing, I had to check knout and had to the airport with wet hair. I asked the front desk staff a refund on amenities and instead I got a full blown sister attitude with sticking her hand with long fingers iin my face! This is a horrible representation of the African American community ! My husband and son are African Americans so don’t think that I am prejudiced! When we work in a hotel, we keep
Our conversation and manners neutral and certainly do not talk to customers like That. The staff training is terrible. I wanted to have a different experience that the traditional Westin or Marriott. I think I would have had a better experience in a Super 8!

All credit cards are authorized for room, tax, and $100 a night for incidentals. The Destination Amenity fee is $17.00 plus tax and includes the complimentary water in the room, wifi, pool access, and breakfast for 2 people ($54 value). The hotel does not provide microwaves in all rooms as most were eliminated before Covid. Thank you agian for taking the time to leave this review to help better the hotel.

Checked in and was given a hard time. The room was not guest ready. Had to ask for towels and toiletries. Instead they brought toilet paper. They lie and say "breakfast is complementary" don't let you choose what you eat then charge the room $20 without being told in advance! On a side note, 3 of us went 2 adults and one child and they only let 2 people eat the child is charged as extra! SMH. This is NOT 4 - Star service. My hotel in Shanghai, China was better then this. This place is NOT worth your time nor dime. Go to the Drury Inn that is an exit away. That hotel was much better. I stayed for buisnesses with my family for 3 months.

Had reservations for the Mockingbird suite however at check-in, rather than advising us unavailable and offered an alternative or discount, simply stuck us in a different one. The same woman that checked is in says to wait and call back after 2am and someone could research. The next woman seated at front desk completely disregarded our issue and had the nerve to "offer" a late check-out for $50 more. According to our reservation we already had an automatic 1pm late check-out and 4 free breakfast meals (2 rooms) with the coupon code. We declined since we planned to be out in town and didn't think fair to try to squeeze additional money out of us especially since given incorrect room. At this time apparently young lady checked us out in the system I believe out of spite because I asked to discuss issue with someone else. Although I did not tell her it was because of her consistent rude behavior. We were then required to pay for 2 breakfast meals andi had to take the receipt to front desk to advise. The same woman exclaimed that it was because of the type of breakfast chosen before looking at the receipt. Then when she finally looked saw that we had in fact been charged. The other woman said because it looked like we had been checked out at 945 in the morning. In summary Hotel Derek staff knowingly and deceitfully stuck us in a room we would not have paid for and if given the choice would have simply chosen another regular room rather than a premium priced room that we did not choose. Rather than be upfront and honest we were given the runaround, endured bad customer service, asked to pay more money, not offered a discount for their wrongdoing nor a sincere apology, was retaliated against by staff after politely and professionally advising staff of the concern by causing issues with access to the rooms via our keys and the breakfast issue. The view from room was decent enough for me to not give 0 stars.

Absolutely garbage experience. They obviously put all their money into making the lobby snazzy, and had none left for the rooms.
Issues:
1. Room smelled mildewy
2. Mattress was thin and lumpy
3. Sheets were scratchy and smelled of harsh detergent
4. Every light in the room buzzed loudly when it was turned on
5. Shower head was coated in limescale
6. Toilet would not flush
7. Iron was visibly damaged and had mold growing out of the steam vents
8. Ironing board was covered in flaky rust and would not close once opened
9. No electrical plugs accessible from the bed
10. Floor felt greasy underfoot
11. Smell of rot in public spaces like elevator and hallways
12. Parking was a hysterically expensive $30/night with tax
I cannot discourage people strongly enough from staying here. In addition to the abysmal state of the room, the staff was short-tempered and rude, both during check in and check out, and implied that the damage to the room was our fault.
Needless to say, after recounting this to my credit card company, they were more than happy to reverse the charges from this criminally misleading organization.

My expectations were high for this hotel prior to arrival. I was tired, had a long day and just wanted a relaxing evening, upon arrival I got to the front desk shortly before another female guest and I allowed her to check in first being a gentleman. That was a mistake, the clerk couldn’t find the guest’s reservation and then the guest had to search for multiple bank cards as 1 after the other would not work and this took over 20min before they could visibly see that I was frustrated and finally checked me in which literally took 1 minute…. After finally getting in my room and settling, I removed the food from my fridge that I brought with me to heat it up, only when I looked up, there was not a microwave in the room. I immediately called the front desk and was advised that microwaves have to be requested and it would not be possible to have on sent to my room because housekeeping was closed for the evening, so I went to sleep hungry and frustrated. I also had a drink in my book bag that was a little warm, so I went to my floors ice machine only for it to be out of service, which was also disappointing. I’m addition, my bathroom light was malfunctioning all night. I chose not to stay another night and went to check out in the a.m and voiced my displeasure with the front desk only for the gentleman to say “sorry about that” literally that is all he said, no refund, no credit, no accommodation just an ingenue “sorry”. Again, I would not recommend this establishment, there are plenty nearby hotels that would accommodate their guests better.

By far the worst customer service I've ever experienced at a hotel. Our group arrived at 7:30pm (check in is a 4pm) but there were no rooms available even though we booked a reservation the week before. We were heading to a birthday party, so we had to get ready in the public bathroom in the hotel lobby. After waiting nearly an hour, a room was finally ready for us. We were stressed and frustrated for obvious reasons; however, we were anxious to go drop off our luggage so we could get to the party on time (we were cutting it really close.) When the clerk asked if I authorized any incidentals on the credit card, I said no. She rudely replied that she would therefore not honor our reservation... apparently I misunderstood that she was only asking for a *deposit* as she did not make this clear when she asked about incidentals. I admit I was frustrated at this point after all we'd been through, and I was understandably starting to lose my cool. I curtly told her at that point to charge whatever she needed to charge to get us into the room that we reserved so we wouldn't be late for our engagement. At this point she yelled at me and told me she would not honor our reservation and we would need to find another hotel. So we did... We ended up easily getting a room right away at the Royal Sonesta across the freeway. I highly recommend you skip Derek and try the Royal Sonesta as well... Derek will NEVER get a penny from me, my friends, our families, or our business associates.

The room was in disrepair. Several of the lights were broken, and when addressed (twice), they were still not fixed. The bathroom was shabby with exposed, corroded pipes. There was a hanging plywood barn door with a missing handle that didn't close properly, so there was no privacy while sharing the room with a friend. I booked the room several months in advance at an agreed upon rate, only to be told that the rate was raised and there was nothing they could do. Overall, the photos online seem to be very old, and do not reflect the current state of the property. The lobby smelled strongly of natural gas throughout the duration of our stay.

Don’t stay here! Just don’t! It’s the worst hotel experience I have ever had! It’s $100 if I remember correctly.
We also had to speak with manager while there due to room reservation error. Otherwise was a great stay. Sorry you had an issue too.
