We were fully intending NOT to stay here based on the terrible reviews so we checked in without our luggage and went to check out the room. We were greeted by a super nice front desk person who assigned us a room on the second floor. Right off the nicely appointed lobby there is a business center with two computers and a printer. They have cold water in an urn for guests as they check in. The previous reviews are correct about the elevator - one is still out of order but we never had to wait. We went up to our room expecting the worst but what we found was a room that was 68 degrees (which felt great since it was 102 outside) a clean bathroom, clean and comfy bed and a 55 inch tv. We had a sofa in our room that was a little worn but only if you looked closely. Our room overlooked the pool which was also cool. Everything worked in the room and we saw no bugs (reported in other reviews) or anything else out of place. We went to get our bags and asked for additional pillows and were provided some. This hotel is in a quiet, residential area and is close to many great restaurants. Is this a luxury hotel? No. But it’s not supposed to be. We were in town to shop and do other Houston things so we weren’t spending the day at the hotel. It was a great place to sleep and rest up for the next activity. If we want a hotel experience, we usually stay at the Marriott Marquis.

Let me start by saying the staff was freaking awesome. Randy was a sweetheart and upon check in he entertained my large LOUD crew with stories about his son. The hotel also ensured that my friends stayed on the same floor (12 of us in total) which was a plus. The room (402) was set up really nice and it was very clean. Parking was somewhat awkward because there is a large, unused lot in front of the hotel and a decent size lot snuggled behind the gate. I think it's set up this way so that the hotel can profit off the $16/per night parking.
We stayed approx 3 nights and it was during that time that we experienced a few hiccups. One being that the shower never got hot. It stayed cool to luke warm the entire time. We brought this to managements attention they blew it off by saying some showers get hotter than others. Another issue was our toliet backed up and caused a minor flood in the bathroom. This was a huge issue as we had to use others bathrooms until someone fixed it. Oh, and no one actually came up to fix it so...
The extremely hilarious part of my stay was the breakfast concierge, Erika. Erika was hilarious and the breakfast was amazing on the day that she was there. However, she let us (the guests) know that she would be calling out the next day and perhaps the day after. GUESS WHAT? She didn't lie, she called out which left breakfast service in a limbo as they had no replacement. The front desk staff accommodated us for not having breakfast by removing the daily parking fee. Go figure!!!
I would probably stay at the hotel again because the location was fabulous, but I would probably make sure I had a back up in case Erika needed time off again 🤣🤣

I have stayed in this hotel a number of times over the last 10 years; I am sorry to say it has turned into a dump, despite the graciousness and helpfulness of the staff. Check in was delayed because the front desk attendant was away from the desk and returned pushing a full linen cart with towels for two other guests, presumably a direct result of the 'new service' of not offering daily housekeeping. The first night I was in a room on 2nd floor, where the ice machine was broken, the bathroom door looked as if it had been in a flood, with missing veneer and extensive exposed particle board, an undusted lower shelf under the sink and a dripping shower head. Food from the previous guest was still in the refrigerator and the bedroom dresser had a sticky countertop. This floor was very noisy, with people roaming all night. This hotel was never well soundproofed and every door slams when closed. The next morning the staff moved me to a room on 5th floor, which was better and quieter but the bathroom door would stay open and again the shower dripped. There was no spare Kleenex or toilet paper. Interior of elevator and hall walls were quite dirty and smeared. Clearly Hilton is not maintaining this property and the staff is seriously overworked. The breakfast was nasty and scarce; they seem to close early because they ran out of food. No coffee cream by 0730 on a Monday morning and no butter on Thursday. We got only coffee because the rest of the breakfast so unappetizing. If I want to do my own housekeeping I will stay home, but not at Hilton. Hilton has carried cost saving too far. Past time to resume daily housekeeping. I will not be back.

Don’t bring your car if you stay here, you pay $15 dollar daily for parking which is just outside the hotel inn nothing special.
We stayed for three days with my family and at breakfast this mean lady is in haste to clear the breakfast room she has no respect to guests she stops them from getting breakfast at the clock. It was not welcoming at all.
However the lady at the reception was the only one with excellent customer service she made us feel right at home.

I selected this rating because I personally did not enjoy my stay. The beds were uncomfortable and the pillows were tiny. When I called (from my room phone) to ask for more towels & pillows, the employee at the font dest told me that I had to go down and get them myself. It was 10 PM and I was in my pajamas. I went anyway because my back needed them due to the poor sleep I had the night before. The pool was dirty and very cloudy. There were a lot of people at the pool at all times playing loud explicit music. I don’t mind that but I had my kids with me. When we arrived for check in I asked for carts to load my belongings onto so I didn’t have to make several trips. I was told by the employee at the front desk that they did have carts but he didn’t know where they were. Didn’t even bother to look for one for my family and I so we hauled up each suitcase from the parking lot to our room on the 4th floor. The employee seemed annoyed our entire stay and very unhelpful. I signed up for honors with Hilton and was planning on continuing to lodge at Hilton’s for different trips that I have planned through out the year and that won’t be happening after the experience I had.

I was recently saddened by my stay at the Hampton Inn near the Galleria, Houston. I have been a loyal guest for years until I just experienced a decline in cleanliness and clientele. I heard guests children yelling through the doors; potentially nonreputable women screaming foul language through the hotel walls/room doors as I walked down the hallway. It used to be really nice, clean and a good hotel for business guests for the price point. But now it’s dumpy. However, the manager was very accommodating with a great attitude. However he only has so much control over how corporate chooses to allocate rates and resources. What a shame. Especially for such a higher end area. I guess another casualty of COVID.

My terrible experience at the Hampton Inn Houston Galleria began almost the second we walked in the evening of Friday August 25th, 2023. I did not get the usual happy welcome at the front desk but what was really bothersome was that the young lady checking us in did not tell us that the elevator was broken or even where it was. We walked all the way down the hall, finally found the elevator, and it was broken. When I walked back up to the front desk to inquire, she said, "yeah, it's broke". I asked where the stairs where and she pointed them out with no verbal response. I asked if she had any available rooms closer to the first floor so we didn't have to go up stairs with luggage and she said no, we had the last one. I asked what our room number was again and she said, "whatever it says on your room key". I said can you look it up? She shook her head no. I then asked if we could get our 2 free waters for being Hilton Honors members and she said they would be $3 each and that she would charge them to our room. I asked her if she knew what room they would be charged to and she said yes...

We finally got up to our room and the tv didn't work. It came on but did not change stations and had a broken, blurred picture. That wasn't a big deal because we don't watch much tv anyway. We then went to get ice down the hall and the ice machine was broken. The carpet in the hallways was torn, the walls had wallpaper missing and overall it just did not look like a normal Hilton that I am used to staying in.

Another incident that happened but has nothing to do with the service was that the fire alarm was pulled at 5:00 a.m. We did not get any phone calls or explanation about it but I did not expect to honestly.

This has not only been the worst Hilton Honors experience that I've had, it's been the worst hotel stay I've ever had ever.

We often stay in Hampton Inns when we travel. This time was the first ever that we had to pay for parking. It seems to me that hotels should offer parking free to the paying guests. At least the person making the reservation should give a heads up that there will be an additional charge to park the car. We had no idea until we registered. Other than that wrinkle, the stay was pleasant as usual in Hampton Inns.

The room was standard but clean. The shower was lukewarm. After I froze though my shower my daughter said “you have to turn the knob to the ‘cold’ side to get hot water”. That’s novel. I was also charged $20 for parking because I used a 3 rd party vendor to book the room although the hotel website lists parking as complementary. The third party vendor was no help with that either. I’m disappointed with my stay.
