My boyfriend and I stayed at The Moran MLK weekend and would defined stay again. The rates are a bit higher than other options but it was easy to see why when we arrived. It’s attached to a popular shopping and restaurant city center so you have tons of options for mid and high end dining, entertainment and shopping. We had dinner at The General Public and breakfast at Sweet Paris Creperie and enjoyed both. They were mid range and did not require reservations to dine (coming from Chicago that was a relief). The hotel has free parking on the 3rd door which is huge if renting a car. We were able to come and go with no issues finding a park. The hotel is located about 20 minutes from central
Houston so we didn’t make trips back to the hotel during the day but it’s not so far that it feels completely out of the way. The city center makes up for the distance from central Houston because there’s so many dining options to chose from. Our room came with a seal on the door and cleaning was only by request. We had no problem requesting extra towels or even coming to clean. One night we arrived back to our room late and I wanted to heat up my food so I asked the receptionist if there was a microwave in the lobby since the room did not come with a fridge or microwave. To my surprise she let me know she would have one delivered to the room. We left back out and came back to a microwave as promised. The room was clean, hotel quiet and staff extremely friendly. Loved the decor as well. The bed was pretty comfy although I wished there was a mattress cover under the sheets because you could see the mattress through the sheets. Other than that no complaints!

Been wanting to leave some feedback for some time but not had a moment with a busy diary! Stayed at Sorella and… oh wait the name changed to the The Moran in Dec 2019! Was confused as I drove into the parking lot and was told by the valet staff the name had changed the previous week. Managed to locate free parking in the lot which connects to the hotel and went to the reception desk. They unfortunately had no record of my booking and the rates but thankfully I had confirmation and they were able to provision me with the room I had requested but a slight inconvenience.

The room itself was well equipped and bed was very comfy. The décor is very chic and there was a nice large lounge chair to relax in. The cupboard hanging space was quite minimal with no drawers for clothes and only hanging space but had everything else you need including iron and hair dryer. The safe in the room was easy to operate and wifi was included in the stay.

The location of the hotel is well placed as you have a number of retail shops and restaurants nearby including a cinema. Over the festive break there were nicely lit trees everywhere and you could go for a nice walk around that location if you had the time. All restaurants do close around 10pm so if looking for late night options you would not find much. Having a car is extremely handy as you can drive down to other locations that are open later.

The stay included breakfast but was extremely minimal with only options of cereal, a few pastries and fruit. While the staff are extremely attentive it would benefit the guests if there were more options available for guests. The bar had a firepit in the middle and they had entertainment some nights which looked good.

Overall a nice stay at The Moran and would recommend staying if having breakfast at the hotel is not a big issue.

Hotel had friendly staff and located near shops and restaurants. Very cute boutique hotel! The hotel provided nice rooms (double beds are a bit small and really just good for one adult). Lots of parking in the parking garage or valet is available. The location was nice as you could walk around and restaurants went from the inexpensive to much nicer so there was something for everyone. Fireside had live entertainment and very lively. Rooms were quiet and you didn't ear any noise from the busy outside areas.

We stayed in Hotel Sorella in 2016 and eagerly looked forward to our second stay this time, but our recent stay wasn't even half as nice. The room was a bit run down and grimy, especially the carpet and the grouting in the shower. There was old hair in the drain and a creepy stain in the toilet near the rim (room 903). We asked for a light refreshing of the room daily upon arrival but that didn't happen. I ended up taking out our trash and disposing of it outside of the hotel. We were told we could call to have them take out the trash but who wants to go through the trouble when that should be included, plus, when we called for more toilet paper, it took a long time. The saddest thing was the complimentary breakfast. In 2016 it was lavish and high quality. Now it was just some dry bagels, yogurt, fruit, and one kind of pastry. My kids totally rejected it and they had been so excited about the breakfast before we arrived based on our past stay in 2016. You have to pay an expensive price for waffles, eggs, toast, and anything that might actually be appealing. This was a huge disappointment as a great complimentary breakfast really makes a hotel stay fun and memorable and draws people back. We ended up buying breakfast pastries from outside the hotel, although I did come down for coffee and fresh fruit from the hotel. The staff was friendly and especially pleasant at the concierge. However, I don't believe we will choose Hotel Sorella next time we come to Houston based on this experience and can't recommend this hotel to others.

Thank you for your feedback. The state of your room on arrival was not near the high standard that we set for ourselves, and I've contacted housekeeping to resolve this issue. COVID has deeply impacted the hospitality industry, and much of what you've described is part of our ongoing precautions to protect guests and staff during the pandemic. We hope you'll understand that many of these changes are temporary and will be reversed once we return to business as usual. Until then, we thank you for being our guest and hope to impress you more during your next visit. Jerome Strack General Manager The Moran CITYCENTRE

I stay at The Moran every other week for business. I highly recommend this hotel for business or pleasure. The hotel is spotless and their employees are above and beyond helpful, courteous and very professional. I have been staying at this hotel for years (it was previously Hotel Sorella) during my recent stay the Assistant Manager Sophie Akers was extremely helpful in making sure my accommodations were exceptional. This was not my first experience with Sophie. I met her a few months ago when she also made sure my stay was up to my expectations. Rafael in the Valet department is also so friendly. He knows me by my name and greets me during each stay with a warm smile. I’ve also brought my young son with me and he also loved the hotel and the surrounding area. There are a lot of great restaurants and shops within walking distance. You will not be disappointed at The Moran.

This is either a business hotel (if you have business nearby) or a location hotel if you want to explore the development. Otherwise, it’s an over priced basic “lean and mean” hotel. FYI: don’t bother with the nespresso look alike coffee in the room, it’s awful - the coffee in the free breakfast cafe is much better with real cream.

Also, you can park for free (big plus, now that I think of it), but you better park on the 3rd floor (and the hotel entrance is on that floor), or else you’ll get a ticket over night. Good luck getting that tip from the valet.

I stayed at hotel Moran for 2 weeks, rooms are generous size, service is excellent and most of all Sophie Akers at front desk was very friendly and was always approachable and very willing to help with any questions or any queries I had regarding stay. I certainly recommend this hotel not only service and stay is comfortable but also it is centrally located to everything around at walking distance including a fantastic park for kids and live music on weekends. All in all excellent service, stay and location.

Stayed there for four nights for a family wedding. The hotel is good and has comfy room and bed, but I think it´s way too expensive for what it offers. Complimentary breakfast is way too simple with no eggs or proteins offered without charge. There were many convention meetings there so it can get a little packed during weekdays.

This hotel has definitely seen better days. My wife and I had a staycation here for our anniversary, thinking that it was a great location being that its in CityCentre, and from the pictures it looked like it was truly a boutique hotel. But there were issues from the start.

1) Rooms are dated and bare. There are no splashes of color, or art, the wood floors transition into dated brown carpet under the beds. It looked like a standard motel room, not a suite.

2) We had to ask for a new room almost immediately after checking in, as the room we had was dirty, there were iron burn marks on the couch, window areas were almost black and dingy. The leather that separates the carpet and wood was torn in places. All the wood including the tables, cabinets and refrigerator enclosure were damaged, scratched and chipped. Our room smelled like someone tried to cover up smoking.

3) Aside from the printed piece of paper we received from the front desk, there was no information about the hotel amenities in the room, we weren't even sure if they offered room service even though there was a room service button on the phone.

4) Although they said breakfast was provided, it was just waffles and cereal and beverages unless you wanted to pay for a meal.

The upside to this stay was the onsite bar Radio Milano, great service and good drink. Also again the ability to walk just a few feet to great nightlife.

This is a great business hotel, it provides the basic amenities needed for a short stay. But this is definitely not a staycation or vacation spot.

This property is beautiful, but sleeping here was difficult. Clouds of dust were everywhere when moving the comforters and waking on the carpet. Terrible sleep due to severe congestion and cough.

We live just five minutes away and were excited to have a staycation here, so we know that the allergies were not due to local allergens, as we do not have this problem at home.

Sadly, when we informed the front desk at check-out, her response was to tell us that we should have called and had housekeeping come and clean. (At 2am?) I informed her that it was the comforters needed to be cleaned and that the carpets needed steam-cleaning. We paid a lot of money to have a poor night of sleep. So disappointing!
