Booked online, we received an email from the hotel that evening was fine. After 4 hours flight we arrive (at 1 AM), and Lisa, the person at the reception, tell us that the elevator is broken and the rooms are at 6th floor. Of course we complain with the lady, and not only she does not help us to find a solution. She also said that she does not give a flying **** and we can sleep at the lobby. First and last time I will stay at an Hilton hotel.
I have previously stayed at this property, but on the Homewood Suites side. On my recent trip to Houston I opted for Hampton because it was such an exceptional value. It's hard to find a good deal these days, especially at a downtown hotel, so I was appreciative of that. Overall the rooms weren't much different than those at the Homewood. Roomy, comfortable, and great views of downtown (at least ours did, we were room #1111). Breakfast was an actual buffet which, if you travel often, then you know this is pretty rare these days. The only thing to be aware of is that valet parking is your only option at $36/night. They are upfront about this, so it's not a hidden fee or anything, but it's worth noting for those people that don't pay attention to such things. A helpful tip about parking: The lot across the street costs less but has all kinds of rules about the start/end times you are paying for, and it does not allow in's and out's. I found the lot to be super shady, so I don't recommend parking here as you will likely opt to move your car to the Hampton parking option due to the hassle. Just pay the $36/night and enjoy the convenience.…
This was a good find at the last minute. The room was comfortable and had an outlook over the city buildings and lights. A good layout with separate bathroom. A good work area. Check in was OK. They took a credit card deposit despite the room being prepaid and then added additional charges although we madee no additonal purchases. Breakfast was good but brought down by eating off paper plates with plastic cutlery. I am an adult, not a five year old at a birthday party. I asked about recycling the items that could be and was told no problem just to put it all in the bin. I asked how the waffle machine worked as I had not seen one before. I was told it was a waffle machine. I got that much. That didn't tell me how it worked.
The list of hotel issues is long and wide. No housekeeping after being requested and assured it would happen. Rooms charged twice the price they were supposed to cost for a wedding group (and they wouldn’t change it because the people had prepaid???). Door locks malfunctioning, thread bear towels, the worst tasting mixed drinks at their bar I’ve ever had in my life ( bar tender blamed it on the brand of flavors their fountain mix system used, when it really was all soda flavor, no cola or tonic flavor at all, cheaper that way), at about $10 per drink, no manager on duty after 5pm, except the random staff member that said they were the manager after the real one left. I could go on but running out space. I will say the valet people were a delight and very helpful, even when I didn’t pay the $44/night for parking because it was $12/day a block away. Do yourself a favor, spend a few extra dollars and stay at a real hotel. You’ll enjoy your stay much more.…
Very clean. Nice staff especially Isaiah. Nice rooms. Good free breakfast and the restaurant food and drinks were good too. Location was close to everything we went to. Valet service was good also. Sophia is a good sales person
Always great to stay at this hotel! The staff goes above and beyond especially Brittany who makes sure we get an A+ service every time! They have a relaxing bar area that you can even get a bite to eat at. Stay with them the next time you are in Houston!
Our room, the view, the lobby , the bar and the breakfast staff were amazing. We will absolutely return. The value for the location was crazy good, we easily could have spent several hundred dollars more on similar accommodations. We were in the best area to access the most out of downtown Houston and we are locals who were enjoying a couple staycation.
This is a great centralized downtown inn that is located equally 1 block from both Minute Maid Park and the convention center (add a little more but still very walkable from Toyota Center and plenty of shopping and food choices. It shares a building (front desk) with another Hilton brand (Homewood Suites). Beds comfortable, very clean rooms, lobby and exterior. If you are lucky you will get Yessica (notice misspelling). She is tremendous. My room was not ready (early flight so not the hotel's fault) so she offered to store my bag in a secure area. Wanted to switch room type and away from elevator and obliged without even a blink. Later in my stay I came back from some sightseeing and needed a drink didn't even need to tell her my room number. All employees from housekeeping to breakfast to other desk agents all great but Yessica I had the most interaction with. Definately made my stay better and reaffirmed my choice of hotels. …
I traveled with a group of 10 people. Brittany and Sophia from the sales office took good care of us during the trip's planning stage. Once at the hotel, check in was very smooth and the staff was great and welcoming. The rooms were nice and clean. Beds were so comfortable. I slept like a log! At check out, Mojo and Beth took good care of us and were very accommodating when we asked to leave our suitcases there a bit longer to take a tour of the downtown area. When paying, it helped that the charges were already split in half for the double rooms.
There were not enough staff at check in. Lots of people waiting in line. The room smelled like chemicals and was in poor shape. The valet broke the HUD in my vehicle. All of the electronics were messed with. The breakfast was meh and you had to wait for them to fill things up. The location is fantastic if you're going to a ballgame. For $400 for one night I expected much better. Whatever you do...don't use the valet!
