In October 2022, I was a guest at this hotel, which is now called Kings Inn. I felt more like family than a guest, thanks to the on-site manager, Crystal. Crystal makes no distinction between guest and family member, and genuinely cares about the guests and making their stay a good one. I am planning to return to Memphis and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again, especially with Crystal as the manager.

Just needed a place to stay for two nights, didn't want anything fancy or expensive and got what we paid for. No bed bugs but lots of cockroaches. The bath linens were all dirty and stained and one had what looked like a bar of soap all smeared into it. The bed linens had stains and cigarette burns in them. It didn't smell, it seemed safe, just not clean. I wouldn't take my family there, and more than likely would rather camp out somewhere than stay here.

The man at the front desk was very nice and inviting and we were told that the rooms have all been remodeled. We got to the first room and the ceiling had mold on it. We switched rooms. The room was dark, not all the lamps worked, and it was filthy. We spilled water on the floor and we took a towel to wipe it up and the white towel was black! I think their version of remodeling is putting a new floor down and calling it good. The room smelled like the chemicals they use to clean a porta potty. We were just passing thru so we didn't stay long. We were out of there first thing in the morning.

Awesome stay. Checked in late 8pm Desk Woman was so cool and funny. We stayed 2 nights without a hitch in our giddy up. Fun town will do this again. Also a 5.00 dollar shuttle to anywhere in town left our car sit for 2 days without a worry as the lot is well lit. Stay here

We booked this trip thru Orbitz.com a little over a month in advance, both the round-trip flight & hotel, Vista Inn & Suits. Flight went smoothly going & returning home, the hotel however, not so much. This trip we wanted to avoid renting a car, so we chose a hotel downtown on Union Ave. where we could walk to Beale Street & other interesting landmark, also allowing us to use Memphis transit system (trolley & buses) as well as booking tours that include pick up at the hotel. From the airport we used Lyft & so very glad we did. Our driver was Phillip "Malik" Riles who was awesome especially so because once he took us to our hotel, again the Vista Inn & Suits, to our surprise it was closed down, totally abandoned, Phillip stayed with us until we were settle in a hotel! I immediately called the hotel #, & was told that we were being transferred to the EconoLodge further up Union, to far for us to walk around downtown! Once at EconoLodge lobby I called Orbitz.com asking them why I was not informed! While on hold with Orbitz.com we talked with the hotel Manager/Owner, Neil, who was also calling Orbitz.com on our behalf; together we got Orbitz.com to refund my $$ & Neil gave us a cheaper rate. However, I told Neil, before confirming to say that we had chose Vista for it location, he said that we could use the hotel shuttle to shuttle us for 'free' to downtown, where normally it would have cost $5.00 per person per ride. So with that we chose to stay at the EconoLodge. In addition to Neil, the front counter staff such as Brandi, were awesome, very helpful with all our request and/or needs & the shuttle drivers were very friendly & everyone gave us suggestions on where to go to eat as well as tours or sights to see. The hotel is slowly being remodeled & that which has been done is nice. Included in the stay is free breakfast, I'd suggest they include fruit and yogurt, but it was filling with waffles & biscuit & gravy. Across the street is a Burger King, Arby's, Walgreen, a gas station with a convenient store offering beer, candy, snacks, etc., & up the street, a short walk is McDonalds. A block up in front of Walgreen is the bus stop, bus 34, 54 & 56 will take you down town; you can purchase an all day pass for $3.50 which can be used for the bus & downtown trolleys, be sure to have the Exact change as the drivers will not give change back! The trolley drivers were much friendlier than the bus drivers. There are 3-trolleys, one down Main street, one along the river & one that circulates to the college. The trolley drivers will direct you to good eatery's & tell you where you need to get off for your destination. People are as friendly as you are! We were there a week & had a great time.

I reserved a room for the weekend through the Choice Hotels website. It was quoted at $26/night. I realize this is a budget hotel, but the price was really good. I did not have high expectations. Upon arriving, the room was ready. But the rate I was being charged was now $79/night. And a total (with taxes and fees) $99.08 for 3 nights. I showed the lady my email and confirmation number, but she wouldn’t honor my rate. She repeatedly asked where I booked the room, and kept insisting it was through booking.com. It was not, and I repeatedly told her that. She refused to honor the rate and said it was wrong, and that it should be $79/night. I said I couldn’t stay for that price, and that was not the price I was quoted. I double checked 2 more times that she wouldn’t honor the rate I showed, and she said she wouldn’t. She was rude from the start. She did not care if I stayed or not, and seemed happy to see me leave. When I told her I couldn’t accept the new rate, because it wasn’t what I was quoted, I also asked if I would be charged if I canceled. She said no, and said I could cancel on my phone. I told her my cancellation had to be done by 4:00 YESTERDAY to avoid a penalty. I asked if she could cancel it on her end without a penalty or fee and she said yes. I am not sure yet, if there is a penalty. But I will be checking. Beware of the hotel not honoring their quoted rates. Pics of my hotel rates and confirmation number and then the new rate they wanted to charge me. I would not recommend this hotel.

Check in time is 12 noon. We arrived at 19.30 and were given key to our room. We unpacked our car, carried it upstairs and opened the door, to a dirty unmade room. I left hubby there with our bags while I walked back to reception where I got keys to another room in different block, downstairs. Got there and - ditto! Smoking room I couldn’t even step inside ( this hotel claims to be a non smoking room) Repeat, back to reception where she gives me keys to third room. I refuse to walk there- she goes to check room and comes back to report it is not ready. Meanwhile hubby has tracked down cleaner who says they work at different hotel but have just been brought over on overtime. Hubby instructs cleaner to prepare our original room and one hour after arrival we are given our room. Receptionist tells us she started there two weeks ago and agrees all is not well! Three night stay- never had any housekeeping despite two complaints to reception. Bins around site overflowing as people remove own rubbish from room due to lack of housekeeping. Breakfast poor with limited supplies. Requests for anything met with huge sighs and staff never look you in the eye. On last morning milk ran out one hour before breakfast service ended. As we were checking out an hour later, milk was just arriving..... Cigarette burns in sheets. Had to ask for and collect clean towels from reception as no housekeeping service. Pool water not awful but plenty of bugs, plastic etc floating on surface as needed cleaning up. One positive for us was location and why we picked it- 19 mins to Graceland, 15 to Stax museum by car, 15 minute walk to Sun studios. Hotel offer $10 shuttle to downtown but Uber is cheaper . We were refunded first night stay but this still didn’t make it worth staying- spoiled our Memphis stay

Staff were not so friendly, could be better, the size of the room was good, beds were very comfortable. Only the bathing room needed a maintenance, shower was not working, water taps were hanging loss. Breakfast like everywhere, dreadful, coffee like everywhere dreadful. Hotel is situated nearby the mainroad to the center of Memphis and nearby the highway.

We reserved a King Bed and we were give two double beds. We called the front desk, and they put us on hold for a while...then we were asked to wait in our room while they figure out what to do. As we waited, we noticed the TV didn’t work. We had to go back to the front desk and ask again what the status was. We sat there and waited...to be sure we were taken care of. We were finally given a room and the fridge did not work. We complained, but nothing was done. We decided to use the ice machine, since the fridge was out. Guess what? That doesn’t work either. We decided to try and use the WiFi and they did not give us the password. We tried calling the front desk. No answer. Time and time again...no answer. We had to walk back to the front desk to get the info. Terrible visit!!! They get one star, because I cannot give a negative number.
