We offer luxury en-suite accommodation, fine food, golf breaks, weddings, functions, and much more in the charming village of Powfoot near Annan in Dumfries and Galloway, South West Scotland. The original house, which was built in the 19th century as a private residence, has been modernised to create a stylish and comfortable hotel. There are wonderful views stretching for miles over the Solway Firth toward the Lakeland hills. Most of the 25 bedrooms overlook the sea or Powfoot Championship Golf Course.

Detailed Reviews
We are just back from a 4 night trip to Powfoot Hotel. I hear you ask yourself. Where is Powfoot? Well it's a small village on the Solway coast where you will find this wonderful hotel. It is literally right on the coast with stunning views and a links golf course next door. This hotel is also home to the del Amitri restaurant where they serve a tapas style menu which you will have to try yourself as we are now too biased to give an appropriate review Needless to say the food was wonderful. In this crazy time they have included their bar burger menu in the main restaurant. I personally sampled the venison burger on 2 nights. On both occasions the plate was returned empty. Don't get me wrong, when I say Scottish weather can be interesting and on this coastline even more interesting this time of year but a short break is what you make of it yourselves. The staff are first class and we felt at home from the minute we stepped inside. Our room was spacious and spotless. It was serviced each day which is more than I can say for a higher rated hotel relatively nearby where we stayed in august. But back to Powfoot. Yes it is secluded but not too out of the way that local attractions and scenic areas are difficult to find or reach. There is plenty of parking on site and we can safely say you will not be disappointed if you venture here. It is a hotel not to be ignored nor missed. There were children there this week but I would say there would be more for kids during the better months. My opinion only. We are probably a little old fashioned so we would have preferred a kettle and the usual array of sachets rather than the coffee machine in bedroom . So Powfoot hotel. Please try it.

This wonderful little hotel could be easily missed if you are not prepared to travel off the main roads. The food in the Del Amitri restaurant is stunning and very resonably priced (as is the wine!). The rooms are beautifully appointed (there are only 16, so booking is a good idea) and the staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfasts are splendid and set you up for the day. Great views on to a curious Victorian bathing pool set on the beach, and it is right beside the delightful James Braid-designed golf links. My only suggestion for improvement would be for a slightly more extensive single malt choice.
Well worth the effort to get there. We will be back.

We found this hotel on a previous trip in May when we were taking the scenic route to Ayr and knew we were returning to southwest Scotland a few weeks later, so booked it for two nights. It is off the normal Scottish tourist route, but if you’re touring Southwest Scotland or want a stop off point when travelling further it really is worth a short detour from the main roads to enjoy a lovely stay in a wonderful location overlooking the Solway firth with its ever changing tides and scenery and over to the Lake District. We had a lovely, spacious and spotlessly clean room with very comfortable bed, nice linen and a little sitting area, coffee machine in room. There is a traditional bar area and a comfortable lounge area, you can eat in the bar or in the del amitri dining room with big picture windows to enjoy the views. The menu is varied with a tapas style menu of various different style dishes, all of which we tried were freshly cooked and delicious, it is beautifully presented, there is also a daily specials menu with two or three starters mains and a dessert. Breakfast is table service with a big choice of anything you’d want for breakfast both cold and hot. Finally the whole place is run by a very friendly, professional group of staff who are always smiling and ready to help with anything, so if you’re anywhere near this area give it a try, even if it’s just for a bite to eat somewhere en route.

My visit was to attend a funeral. In full compliance with Covid regulations the team at Powfoot went out of their way to provide safe and welcoming accommodation. Lisa in particular couldn’t do enough for me providing hot food and a fantastic breakfast.
Powfoot in the middle of winter is still charming accepting the wet and wild Solway.
It’s fair to say that the annex rooms are simple but spacious, nice and warm, very clean with a great shower.
In summary, a warm welcoming place to stay and I would revisit in the warm summer months once we can in a heartbeat.
Thank you for looking after me given such difficult and challenging circumstances.

We booked the Powfoot hotel after it was recommended to us. The location when we arrived was lovely with views over the estuary looking onto the fells and lakes we were blessed with fine weather. we took a walk along the banks and returned to the hotel and were sat in the restaurant even though we had booked the bar. The table had a lovely sea view. The menu was lovely and we were spoilt for choice. we decided to have food from the bar menu in the end and selected the ham egg and chips and also nicose salad with caper sauce with salmon, mackeral and crayfish. The food was delivered promptly and it was beautiful.
The Hotel was under covid restrictions and they were implemented fully. We felt very safe while we were at the hotel.
Thank you for your service andlovely food

We were looking for a short break in Dumfries and Galloway to celebrate my wife's birthday. Our welcome was very warm and helpful and the room was spotless, spacious and very well appointed, with fine views across the Solway Firth. We enjoyed a tasty selection of dishes from the tapas style menu in the hotel restaurant on both nights and delicious hearty breakfasts. What impressed us both most though was the staff who were very friendly and attentive and gave the impression that nothing was too much trouble in ensuring we had a thoroughly enjoyable stay.

+1
First time staying at this hotel and from the moment we arrived the staff shone. We had a lovely comfortable room with great views and the restaurant has a tasty inventive menu. The hotel is situated in a lovely quiet location and is so peaceful, but it was the staff who made the stay memorable and who are an absolute asset to the hotel. Nothing is too much trouble and every request was met with a smile. Will definitely return.

Powfoot Hotel has an excellent location right on the edge of the Solway Firth, miles from any busy roads. It is quiet, up to date and has a high quality restaurant serving a wide menu to suit all tastes. The rooms are modern and well appointed, the staff are friendly and helpful. There is also plenty of off street parking.

Overnight stay for a birthday treat with Mum. On arrival greeted by Lisa and Tracey like a long lost friend! Room 1 absolutely perfect with gorgeous views of the Solway Firth, golf course and Criffel in the background. Had booked afternoon tea, and it did not disappoint. One coeliac and one standard and served separately as they should be to avoid any cross contamination and absolutely delicious too! Wonderful breakfast. Will definitely be back. Thanks again for a lovely stay.

We had a lovely two night stay at this hotel despite bad weather, It is beautifully located, right on the Solway Firth so has superb views across the water and is gloriously quiet. One can enjoy walks in both directions feom the front of the hotel. The place is very nicely appointed and has a very pleasant atmosphere. The staff are truly excellent. Everyone we encountered was friendly, cheerful and helpful. The hotel overall is clean and welcoming. The food was superb - in the evening it is a tapas-style menu which makes such a pleasant change from the ususal fayre of hotels and inns. Overall we loved our stay and look forward to returning.

Hi, there are local walks around the village also further afield there is Criffel and Mabie Forest near Dumfries. Hope this helps.
Like most places guide dogs only. I would suggest u contact them direct and you can then state to them your requirements.
crazy how dogs not allowed.
Crazy.
It is situated in a hub of dog walkers.
I stay in a cottage nearby, dog walkers paradise.
I have emailed the hotel, alas no reply.
Hi Really not sure, The golf course is mature and there doesn't appear to be any noticeable ground work on the fairways etc
