Situated in the country Parish of St. Martin in a quiet green valley close to one of Guernsey's most beautiful bays, La Barbarie Hotel offers easy access to the stunning cliff walks, Saints Bay, Icart Point and the secluded coves of the south coast of Guernsey. A comfortable Guernsey hotel set in a rural location, combined with a popular award winning restaurant make La Barbarie Hotel one of the best Guernsey hotels for relaxing short breaks, activity breaks and walking holidays. "The jewel in La Barbarie's crown is really the restaurant, which produces outstandingly good food with complete reliability. Rick Stein stayed there while making one of his television cookery programmes, and pronounced the lobster the best he had ever tasted - praise indeed from one of the country's most celebrated seafood chefs." We visited la barbarie hotel Our favourite hotel in guernsey For our wedding anniversary week away. Which we have been doing now for a good few years Lovely welcome from Sally & the other lovely lady on reception. But this is the normal at this lovely hotel. Lovely friendly staff who work hard To make sure that you are well looked after. Meals in restaurant are top notch. Thanks to colin &'his hard working team. Was nice to meet new staff & see all the staff we have known for years . And now think of as friends. All rooms are spotlessly clean & comfortable. Local bus on corner outside of the hotel. Takes you into Saint Peter port. We're there are other buses to all over the island Looking forward to our next visit to this special hotel. And have booked already for next year Many thanks to Hands on manager Andy Coleman. Many thanks to Sally. & All staff who looked after us so well For another lovely week away. Added bonus was two friends of ours. That we met was there . And that made our week See you soon guys We highly recommend this special hotel.

We all had a wonderful time at this hotel. The food and service were excellent and the staff couldn't do enough for us. The only downside was that it was open to non-residents which wouldn't have been an issue if there had been a 'residents only' area as it was sometimes hard to find a place for 4 people to sit for drinks after dinner. We were also informed on one occasion that if we booked for dinner our table was needed just under 2 hours. This should not be the case for residents. On another occasion we only wanted a bar snack in the evening but was told we weren't allowed to eat it in the bar area and it would have to be room service only. As it happened the bar wasn't busy on that particular night and we were allowed to eat there, however it does emphasis the need for an area for people who are staying at the hotel. Having said all that, it was a lovely hotel.

Dear Camper47443906265 Thank you for taking the time to share your review and thoughts. Thanks for your positive comments and all the feedback regarding residents dining. We always endeavour to send all residential booking confirmation emails in which we advise that our restaurant is popular with our locals and that restaurant reservations are advisable. My apologies that you were inconvenienced in this way, and I do hope that you may wish to return once again in the future.

My wife and I were there for a week celebrating our wedding anniversary and it turned out to be an inspired choice. Great accommodation, friendly and attentive staff, but most special was the food served in their restaurant which always seemed to have a lovely atmosphere. The menu was broad and every dish was beautifully prepared and cooked to perfection, especially the fish dishes. They have a very good range of wines and expertise to match your taste. It was clear that many locals also used the restaurant which has a very good reputation on the Island. The Hotel was also only a short walk to explore the cliff paths around St Martin, which I did on a number of occasions. These are very well made and provide access to numerous beautiful and unspoilt little bays and beaches. A few trips down to sea level and then back up to the cliff paths will certainly leave you with an appetite, ready for dinner.

We shared a lovely overnight stay with our friends; the food was great (as usual) the service great and the staff are extremely friendly making you feel so welcome. We stay here as often as we can it's our home from home retreat. We were lucky enough to have great weather too; so managed a wonderful cliff walk; finished off with a welcome drink in the bar before our evening meal.😋 we look forward to our next visit 😍

Very friendly and very welcoming staff at the hotel. The facilities are top quality and the room was spacious and clean. The mattress was comfortable and supportive. The food was perfect and adjustments made to measure! The local from-the-door bus services are frequent, cheap and easy to use. We bought a Yellow Puffin PAYG bus pass, which worked well. Our stay was 4 days and we didn't need to hire a car. There are 2 local pubs within walking distance but I wouldn't recommend The Captain! The pool was very clean but not the right season for usage. Not sure how often the menu changes but we were there long enough to try everything, which was all delicious and good value for money.

Arrived to a warm welcome from reception, check in quick and efficient. Comfortable room (albeit a little small), staff and service good and food good. Had an enjoyable stay and would recommend. One minor criticism was that there was no fresh cucumber, orange, lime, strawberries or lemon to go with the gins that we had even though this was mentioned in the gin menu description.

The hotel is close to the airport and easy to find at the top of a steep hill that leads to the beach. The pool looked lovely but during our stay it was too chilly for use. The bar is bright with a nice view and the restaurant fabulous. Our room was above the bar but it wasn’t noisy enough to keep us awake , besides most people were asleep by 10pm, The restaurant was exceptional. Great food and perfect service. Made our trip very enjoyable, our room was very clean and spacious with lovely soft dressing gowns provided. Would highly recommend

My wife and I have been taking holidays for many years at La Barbarie, but it seems however long we stay it's never enough. After missing out for a couple of years due to some pandemic thing going on, we booked for 12 nights instead of our usual 10, but thanks to the return ferry being in doubt due to strong winds, we changed that to 14. Our ferry left ok in the end, but having the excuse to stay a couple more days was a gift. The food is better than ever, and although there's been a lot of change of staff over the pandemic years, everyone was welcoming and attentive, and created a lovely atmosphere. Having said that I really don't want to single anyone out, but must make a special mention to Sally, for being as helpful as ever, especially in sorting out a room for our extra couple of nights and Raivis, for being legendary in making the dining experience such a pleasure. Hope to see you all next year!

I only have positive comments about the hotel and our stay. Our room wasn’t huge but had everything we needed and the bathroom looked brand new, with a big shower, plentiful toiletries and great fluffy towels and robes. We also had a balcony overlooking the pool. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice. We enjoyed real value for money at dinner as we were there during Tennerfest. The food was wonderful. Overall the hotel was spotlessly clean and comfortable. Possibly the greatest asset the Barbarie has is it’s staff. We had a smile and greeting from every one we met. They were all very professional but special mention to the restaurant manager ( I think he was anyway) and his team. We rarely visit the same place twice but we could definitely make an exception for this place.
