We stayed at the mountview for 3 nights. Staff very friendly amd breakfast lovely and so much choice. Quiet hotel, excellent sleep. Staff went out of their way to help, even printing out our boarding passes before we left. Room clean. Close to town centre. No negatives.
We stayed recently and were pleased with the standard of the hotel and room and the facilities provided. The hotel itself is around a five or ten minute walk from the town centre which makes for a peaceful night's sleep. It's a few minutes from the beach and handy for many bars and restaurants. The bedroom was large with a decent sized shower room. Toiletries and a hair dryer were provided and the room was made up and clean towels provided every day, if required. Tea, coffee and hot chocolate in the room and TV as standard and good Wifi. All staff were friendly and approachable and always willing to chat or give recommendations about places to visit. The breakfasts were HUGE and there was an excellent hot and cold selection. We will certainly return to this hotel if we go back to Jersey.…
We have booked the hotel back in April. 2 double rooms for 2 nights in August. All was paid by debit card. Week before we find out our booking was cancelled and we lost our money. When we called the hotel staff was very unhelpful. And they were now fully booked! The reason was as we didn't provide credit card details. We booked and paid for the hotel on debit card and were going to leave credit card details on the arrival, which I thought it's a standard.. Very very angry and disappointed.
We had a 10 day stay at the Mountview and had one of the balcony rooms. We were made to feel very welcome as soon as we set foot in the hotel. The breakfasts were delicious and the banter great. Our room with a balcony was very spacious, clean and airy and after a days sightseeing just what we wanted. We used the facilities of the sister Hotel De Normandie and we went for a swim in their indoor pool and used the sauna, towels were provided. We had a good sleep at the Mountview in a comfortable bed. Our room was serviced and cleaned daily which was excellent. The weather was quite rainy during our stay and we were allowed to keep our room after the 10am and as there was not a booking in this room till the next day it was foc. The staff seemed to go out of their way to be accommodating and helpful and we will definitely use this hotel again.…
Two hundred forty-eight steps to lug the suitcases up to our hot, little room. "The lift's not working." Lotsa luck if in a wheel chair. No a/c and no fan. Good luck if it gets the least warm. OK, so open the window. Doesn't help, and then, of course, you get the traffic noise. Stick with a lower floor room or you're more likely to fry like a Jersey potato. They have like six parking slots. Good luck shoehorning into the micro slots with traffic zooming up and down the hill behind you. Room clean. Plenty of outlets and storage space. Big tub. Decent breakfast. Pictures show a usable patio. It's currently empty. Excellent internet. And then you have to lug the baggage down 248 more stairs... Over all: glad to be out of here.
Good hotel with nice atmosphere and big breakfasts. We stayed in balcomy room which was good, id recommend a balcony room just gives the room that little bit extra at a decent price. The patio area was pleasent though their wasnt any seating. The staff team were all really good including sweet bailey. The two ladys in charge we thought were excellent and couldnt do enough for you. Overall a really happy stay in hotel and seeing this beautiful island with its flowers, beaches and attractions. The walk to centre/sea/parks is only 10mins all round and theirs a strip of approx 6 restaurants and cafes dotted down kenington place? Which is 7/8 min walk.
Mountview is a 15 minute walk from the centre of St Helier up a small hill. Generally we found the staff very pleasant although we had a problem finding our room on arrival especially as rooms 21-28 are the floor above rooms 31-38 and not signposted until you are up there. The lift in hotel no longer works so you have to take your luggage upstairs. Fortunately we didn't have much luggage. Room was nicely laid out with plenty space. It was difficult to get enough air in to keep room cool. The room has a good selection of tea and coffee and has a flat screen TV. Bathroom was not very well laid out and had no shelves or ledges above sink. Breakfast was a choice of continental or cooked breakfast with whatever you wanted served hot on a hot plate - excellent. The Mountview offers excellent value for money being considerably cheaper than hotels in twon centre and offers a decent sleep on a comfortable bed with a good breakfast. …
Very pleased with finding this hotel. Great value for money, good quiet location, super breakfast and clean rooms. Note that the lift doesn’t work if you have limited mobility. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone.
Had a great stay. Very friendly and obliging. Breakfast and accommodation was great catering for all tastes The rooms are spotless and have everything you need. Fresh bedding and towels every day and beds so comfortable after a day walking for miles along beautiful beaches and able to make a cuppa I couldn’t of asked for more. The hotel Manager/ Owner and staff were the nicest I have met by far very helpful even went as far as to ask me if I was ok when I didn’t make it to breakfast. There is also a ton of literature freely available on hand that gives you every thing the Island has to offer.
We were really disappointed with the attitude and service of this hotel. Customer convenience and service seems to be unimportant to the owners, and it appears that all they want is your Money ! First of all don’t be fooled by their cancellation policy. It’s worded in such a way to confuse prospective travellers. The moment you book, you are committed to 30% of the cost as a nonrefundable advance, and will be billed. Then in a few days they’ll bill you the balance 70% as well. Several days before you arrive, the hotel has already collected your money and don’t care a damn about your comfort. Mount View Hotel is a small basic hotel. Nothing extraordinary. There is no Air conditioner in the room. So it’s quite hot in the summer. But who cares about the comfort of the guests ? You can only check in between 2pm and 9pm. This is very strictly enforced. If you arrive after 9pm, you can either sleep on their outside car park or pay for another hotel for the night, and come back the following morning to check-in. If you arrive early, they will not give you a room until 2pm, even if they have vacant ones. They will tell you that the Hotel is full, and the other guests have not left yet. The check out time is 10 am. On the day you are leaving, if you ask to leave a bit late, then they will say that new guests are arriving any moment, and hence you have to leave. THEY WILL NOT LET YOU STAY EVEN FOR HALF AN HOUR AFTER 10 am. Hotel will tell you to leave your luggage and come back if we wish. No luggage room. Just leave it in the living Room. The main door is open. Sometimes the reception is not manned. So obviously leave your luggage at your own risk. The stern looking old woman at the reception (usually wearing a white top, and probably the owner) makes you feel she is letting you stay for free, and that she is doing you a favour. She even tries to give you the minimum breakfast if you don’t ask for what’s displayed in the card. Very weird ! The lift was not working (See the picture). Probably the owners think it is too costly to maintain. Let the guests pull their luggage up 3 – 4 floors. Who cares about the comfort of the guests ? I saw many more similar hotels in Jersey, which may provide better customer service in a friendlier manner. Never again will I stay at Mountview Hotel.…
