Just returned from Jersey and stayed at Oaklands Hotel. Despite being a 2 star the rooms were comfortable and clean and fresh towels put out every day. The breakfast in the Rose Restaurant was excellent, especially the scrambled eggs. We did try the pub the first night but scampi were very mushy in the middle so not sure if safe to eat though chips were good. I would give one word of warning. Be very careful with water temperatures in the bathroom. You could quite easily scald yourself with hot water so best, if taking a shower, to run taps first before you get in and switch off after you get out. To be fair there is a sign by sink warning you but if you have children just play it safe

The hotel is a bit dated, but the size of the bed and the size of the room make up for that. Food was of a very high standard. Hotel was very clean. Enjoyed very much my stay in the hotel and bar area.

We wanted somewhere with a bit of peace and quiet while we were busy exploring the island last Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and were not disappointed. Look past the dated (retro? Vintage?) decor and furnishing, the rooms are a good size, everywhere is spotlessly clean, and the beds very comfortable. We stayed at the back of the hotel overlooking a field of Jersey cows and it could not have been a better outlook. Breakfast was cooked to order and piping hot and tasty. Toast that was actually toasted! Very good value for money and happy to return.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are very quiet. It’s not a busy road at the front so probably not a problem...

Thought that we would try this place again after many years and we were surprised to find that the place had not changed at all neither had the menu the only change was the prices and the quality of service and food. The food served was very mediocre and also was luke warm at best the service was abrupt after serving the food we were not asked if we needed any other condiments and were also not asked if the food was okay. We got the impression that as the majority of the other diners when we were there appeared to be in their late 60's plus that the staff were only bothered delivering the food to the tables like in a care home. If you fancy stepping into a Remake of the film Cocoon I can recommend this place.

Spent a week here on a bed and breakfast basis and loved every minute of it. Nothing was too much trouble and the excellent breakfasts were on a par with the great food served in the Blacksmiths arms pub. Fabulous value for money and would definitely stay here again.

Hubby,Mum & I decided to go for lunch at the Blacksmiths Arms and I must say the food was good. Never had a bad meal there. The young Barman was pleasant, the young waiter was nice nothing was to much trouble, there was a young waitress there though who was a bit abrupt for my liking, and I did not care for her attitude one little bit. Needless to say we didn’t stay for desert & moved on. It’s a shame really but didn’t let it spoil my special day.

I’ve driven past this place for years and remember having a great meal in the restaurant. However this year we decided to stay for annual 4 day island visit for the Jersey Rally. Plenty of parking and a warm welcome. Plenty of information given about the hotel/restaurant/bar was given. The room was your typical room very clean and tidy. Excellent breakfast with a big menu. The bar had a great atmosphere with terrific bar food along with a salad cart. All in all a great stay. See you next year

First visit here and was recommended by friends. There is a large bar area and it seems a popular place. The young barman was friendly and helpful. There is a wide variety of meals and mains are served with a choice of rice, chips, potatoes or salad from the self service salad bar. Our whole grilled Jersey plaice was delicious as was our friend’s pork escalope with mushrooms. Prices were good.

We stayed for New Year’s Eve with some friends, Noberto is a legend, he works so hard and we had such a fabulous time. Great atmosphere, great food and then Noberto hit the decks with some classic party tunes. Rooms were perfect for our party and the breakfast was lovely. Thank you x
