They are some real positives but these are balanced by some negatives. Paul is a real asset and a credit to himself. The two female reception staff we met were also very friendly and helpful. It does make a good impression when reception staff take the trouble to show guests to their room, thank you for that. Our room was very small but just about adequate. It was very clean in parts. The window blind, which was pulled shut when we arrived, concealed an awful mould problem, so bad that it is probably a health hazard. There is a major condensation problem with aluminium window frames and regular and effective cleaning is a must, sadly lacking here. The staff in the breakfast room have not learnt the art of being welcoming. There is no display of personality or warmth from them. They also need to learn to anticipate things a bit. Having to ask for salt and pepper and refills of coffee is not very good. The breakfast itself was very good. My final comment is that I think the Beachcombers is expensive for what it is. . …
Rooms are average size with a very large, comfy bed. Bathrooms are updated and have a bath with shower. We always like to have a bath. The water is piping hot as well. Good drawers and cupboards with plenty of hanging space. The hotel is very clean throughout - staff even cleaning marks off corridor walls. Breakfast was very good - cereals, nuts, raisins, lovely creamy yoghurt, prunes etc. Cooked self service was full English. The only item missing was fresh fruit. Evening meals very good. Better than basic with some interest. 2 courses for £25 and 3 for £28. There is a choice of 3 or 4 items in each course. Very good service from Maicom - the Portuguese waiter. The staff were faultless and included Vince ( Manager ), Paul, Camilla and Martina. Always helpful and with a smile on their faces - really good customer service. The bus routes 1 and 2 are very close to the hotel. It is a 20 min walk to Gorey village. A good short walk can be had across the golf course to the shore and beach - not really sandy. The Beachcombers will do you well if you choose it.…
Fab location on excellent bus route , hotel very welcoming and in good condition, very clean and tidy. Staff were excellent especially Camilla (receptionist) who was very helpful and friendly, gave great advice on where to visit and things to do. Food in hotel was lovely, we had breakfast and evening meals there which were all good
This is our second visit and cannot wait to return in November. The hotel has everything you need including extras if required. The food is top class and unlimited. Staff our amazing… huge shout out to Paul the bar manager, what a guy.. nothing is too much, he is so friendly, professional and the heart of the place. He is an absolute asset to the business and deserves a pat on the back… every other staff member is so friendly, receptionists, waiters & cleaners. The bus stops outside with access to liberty bus station in town to Visit anywhere and a very reliable service. There’s a local Co-op 10mins walk should you need any extras.. newspapers and stuff. Well done everyone at Beachcomber.. excellent hotel.
We have just returned from a very pleasant 5 night stay in the beachcombers Hotel in Jersey .myself, husband and sister had a lovely time in this hotel with very friendly and helpful staff who couldn't do enough to help. The bartender Paul was great and went above and beyond to help with our needs. Next time we return to Jersey we will stay here again. The only fault I have is that the breakfast wasn't quite as hot as my husband would have liked and feel that a microwavevin the breakfast area would be a good suggestion albeit the breakfast was fab as was our evening meals. Big thank you to the staff at beachcomber
Lovely hotel with friendly, helpful staff. Would certainly visit again if in Jersey. Had a family room for 3 adults which had plenty of room. When we mentioned our 93 year old mother was feeling poorly (probably overdoing it) they were concerned and plated her something light for an evening meal - lovely. My sister and I ate in the hotel that evening and the food was delicious.
Stayed here for 3 nights with 2 girlfriends- 1 lives in Jersey & we had come to visit. We booked a triple room & although we couldn’t check in when we arrived as we were super early, they were more then happy for us to stow our bags & use the pool. The pool area is very nice, with a few loungers & tables & chairs. It overlooks the car park & a garden area. There’s a tennis court too. The pool was very cloudy & I’m not sure it was heated, but we had amazing weather so preferred it being so cold The common areas of this hotel are very well presented & the staff are all friendly, polite & hard working. However, we did have some big issues once we got to the room. We met a lovely couple at the pool who warned us that the rooms were very hot & that fans were in short supply. When we finally got our room - 43, omg it was simply unbearable in there! It was a small cramped room on the top floor & nowhere near suitable for 3 adults. 2 tiny singles & a nasty camp bed shoved in an alcove, meaning you couldn’t open the wardrobe or access the window. It was baking hot, poorly lit & very shabby. The bathroom was dreadful. Old, tired & quite simply nasty. A big hole in the bath enamel, a sad little shower in the tub, it was like a 70’s motel We asked for a fan & were told that when the manager arrived at 6, he’d see if there were any spare?? Unacceptable seeing as the hot weather has lasted for months. Why on earth wouldn’t they have purchased enough for every room as standard? We actually were given one by Paul the brilliant Irish guy from the restaurant who was the shining star of our whole stay We requested a change of room as soon as a better one became available as we couldn’t bear the horrid one we were in for another night. Luckily they moved us to 48, which was considerably better - but still dated & shabby sadly. We had dinner in the restaurant on the Saturday night & it was a shambles! Decent fish cake starters but then it went downhill. The steaks came on boiling hot plates so that the salads were cooked, as was a “blue” steak! Nasty cheap cuts of sirloin, no thought or care put into presentation. The goats cheese & avocado salad was missing the avocado & it took the chef 15 mins to slice one by which time the other 2 meals were eaten. Then dessert was 8 soggy tasteless profiteroles simply dumped in a bowl with a dreary, watery chocolate sauce. Again Paul tried to salvage the situation by offering us drinks & knocking the majority of the food off the bill. While we were eating the other waiters were clearing the tables & closed all the windows so the room was stifling!! Again, just no foresight for guests. Breakfast was ok, but if you’re there after around 0900, it’s cold, unappetising & infrequently replenished. Hotel is in a good & quiet location, near a bus stop, the beach & a very expensive Co-op. Getting around on local buses is super easy So for this reason & the very nice staff it gets 2 stars & we met some really great people staying there which was fun, but it all just feels so neglected & tired that I couldn’t recommend it…
We stayed for 3 nights the rooms are very nice and clean. Pool almost like having your own private pool Staff very friendly Could do we more food options and for bar snacks to be available each evening however staff more than accommodating.
Lovely hotel, nice location, swimming pool, library, good food and friendly staff. Ended there by pure luck as our ferry back home was cancelled but it was a very good experience. I highly recommend the Beachcombers and will be happy to stay there the next time we are in Jersey. Special shout out to Kamila at the reception, she is very pleasant, helpful and professional, not just a pretty face!
Just returned from another wonderful stay here. What can I say other than the staff and this gem of a hotel just made our stay even more enjoyable. A special shout out to Paul and Camila who are exceptional at making you feel welcome. Camila always has a smile on her face and is just fantastic with kids!!! Paul was beyond helpful and works so hard as making the guests happy! Vince is wonderful to liaise with regarding booking and always ensures we are looked after. Our rooms were perfect. Great to have a fan! Gorgeous fluffy fresh towels changed daily by the superb housekeeping team. Added bonus was the heated pool this year. The kids had the time of their lives...as did the adults...thanks again guys!! See you all next year!!! 😉
