Poor customer service and dirty accommodations. When we arrived there were dirty towels and trash on the stairs outside of the unit next to us and at the time of writing this 4 days later it is still there. The furniture was stained, some of which was from general use and small but other spots were simply from lack of cleaning. The best came when they decided to redo the roof on the condo obstructing our entrance with a port a potty. When asked to correct the problem we were told they don’t control that. I would not suggest booking through Kiawah management group.

My wife and I spent several days at the Sanctuary in Sept- 2021. We had been to Kiawah several times and had dined at the Sanctuary, but had never stayed there. I wanted to do something special for my wife's birthday, so we booked the Sanctuary. We had read some recent reviews about questionable service, but we wanted to give it a shot anyway. (Almost) everything about The Sanctuary was spectacular. The hotel and property were incredible. Our room was fabulous - ocean view, spacious. The service could not have been better- everyone we encountered was friendly, professional and committed to making our stay special. We are tennis players and took clinics at the nearby Roy Barth Tennis Center. Roy Barth himself worked with us on ground strokes and volleys. He's a treasure. We especially loved lunch at the Ryder Cup Room and dinner (both outside) at another golf club. Fine food and beautiful golf course views. The only "downside" - the adult pools were a bit too noisy and crowded. Forget swimming - it was more like a large adult soaking pool. The lounges and pool were attractive - and right next to the ocean - but a bit too busy for our taste. Nevertheless, the Sanctuary experience was memorable. We plan to return.

Dear allangQ1263IR, Thank you very much for "giving us a shot." I'm delighted to hear you and your wife enjoyed a wonderful birthday getaway. You make several excellent points: (1) Roy Barth is indeed a treasure, and I'm so happy you two had the opportunity to work one-on-one with him; and (2) there is so much more to do at the resort than golf, from outdoors and nature activities to (as you point out) world-class tennis. Or even the fine art of doing absolutely nothing but relaxing. Again, so delighted you enjoyed your wife's birthday getaway, and I hope we have the pleasure of welcoming you back.

We stayed here a few days after visiting family near Charleston. The public spaces and the rooms are beautifully appointed. We had a lovely room with a balcony and a full ocean view. The staff is very good. Some resorts that we used to consider luxurious are in serious need of repairs and updates. The Sanctuary stands out in that everything is up to the highest standards.

We spent 3 nights in Charleston and 4 at the Sanctuary. I am an extensive researcher in my own right, so when I saw how highly recommended Kevin was my interest was peaked. Kevin was so great about corresponding with me even 3 months before the trip began. He asked a lot of questions to discover what my family was most interested in doing and gave me very detailed and invaluable information about activities that my husband, my 6 year old son and I would all enjoy. My family and I found Kevin's so helpful and we were so impressed by his vast knowledge. Being a foodie himself, like everyone in my family, and liking a combo of adventure and relaxation, everything he suggested and arranged completely exceeded our expectations!!! As I previously mentioned, I am an extensive researcher; however, I wouldn't have been able to uncover half of the "off the beaten path" info that he shared. From private tours on boat and land, biking adventures, restaurants and secluded walks, he really helped make our trip as awesome as it was! We will definitely return to the Sanctuary. It really felt like paradise!

This property is lovely with most of the rooms being oceanfront. We are not golfers but wanted to stay a couple of nights on Kiaweh Island to check it out. I love the island and feel it looks the most like Hawaii of any other spot I have visited on the continental US. A very tropical feel which I loved. Service is superior. No complaints here.

Dear Debra R, Thank you very much for your recent visit and for your kind words. We are very blessed to have such a place that is easy to reach from the Continental US yet feels worlds away. Thank you for pointing that out. We hope we have the opportunity to welcome you back.
