Ridge Top Units should not be offered to any guest! They are old and dirty. I would never stay in those units. We were told they will be renovating those units in April 2021. We were offered a nice unit in Depuy after turning down 2 other units and waiting 3 hours for the unit we accepted. It was worth the wait. I do give praise to the girl at check in, she did work with us to get it right. River Village unit was not bad but too small for our group. We enjoyed the horseback riding at Middle Creek Stables.
Viewing the write up and pictures of this resort, we had high hopes. We were let down. We stay at numerous resort properties, and this was by far the worst experience. In the words of my wife, who rarely complains, “I would never stay there again.” When we were checking in, the Concierge (Sherri) asked if we wanted to attend one of the Wyndham owners sales events. Initially, I thought we might do so later in the week, but after seeing the Condition of the units and experiencing the Lack of customer service on the part of the staff, we were clear that we did not want to participate in a sales meeting. Our specific concerns - our first unit ended up with a water leak with a waterfall in the kitchen - looking at the ceiling where the leak occurred, it was clear that this was not an isolated experience, as there were old water marks. Also, the jet tub in the master bath did not work - something that we had looked forward to. The window in the master bedroom was broken and would not open, and we could not get any fresh air. Why rent a unit that needs repairs? When we reported the issue, they made another unit available near the first one. Unfortunately, we discovered that the new unit also had mechanical issues. Why move us to a unit that it not in perfect working order? The dishwasher in the second unit was broken and from the filth in the bottom of it, hadn’t worked in a long time. The mattresses in the master bedrooms of both units were old and broken down, reminding me of a motel 6. The TVs in both units were quite small, and the living room furniture in the second unit was heavily stained. In terms of cleanliness, the dishes in the second unit were stained, so it was hard to tell if they were clean or not - we assumed they were not since the dishwasher did not work. For most of the week, even the main club amenities were down for service. When I called the front desk, I was told that the pool was down for service for the entire week - this was not Covid related, as the pool had been open the previous week. With these issues, my greater concern was customer service. As someone who regularly stays at Hilton properties, I was excited to try a Wyndham resort. The resort staff did not check on us after any of these problems, and when called about the dishwasher, they indicated that a repairman would come up, but they never did. I inquired about a possible upgrade, since we had to move our food and belongings from one unit to another, but the staff insisted that we needed to try a “comparable” unit first. If we had problems with that one, they would consider moving us to another area of the resort with more updated units - ones that were in better repair. We left with a negative impression.…
I visited this resort on 1/10-1/12. I was very skeptical due to some of the reviews so we attempted to cancel but was told we couldn't. Upon my arrival as I took a walk through the villa it appeared to be very dusty so I grabbed a broom and swept. The amount of dust that was collected seems as thought it was not swept or mopped since the last guest. On the stairs that lead to the rooms there were dead bugs on the ground not 1 but a few. After doing some cleaning myself, I was able to somewhat enjoy the remainder of my trip. Apart from all of this the beds were cozy. Not sure if I would be back.
We checked in on a Friday for our anniversary weekend. Staff at front desk made you feel like they were bothered to check you in. Went to our room. It looked like a small bedroom with a king bed. Bathroom old,dingy and dirty looking. The size of a closet. Had an adjoining door that you could see the light clearly from the next room on the bottom! Asked to be moved. Moved to a bigger room basically on the porch. Bathroom old,dingy dirty looking. We left. Went to another hotel and had a great weekend. Outdoor scenery was beautiful but the rooms were horrible.
I agree with the “LOTS of steps!” comments. This is a beautiful place with lots to do as a family. But if any in your party can't handle a lot of steps...watch out. We had a similar experienced similar problems as the previous reviewer. We asked for a first floor unit. Low and behold, the parking lot was up high and we had to walk DOWN steps to get to our unit. "Ground" floor doesn't necessarily mean no or few steps. You must make a big deal about this when you book your reservations. The whole property is in a hilly area. BEAUTIFUL", BUT EXPECT walking up and down grades. The unit itself was VERY, VERY nice. Only complaint was all the steps. It kind of colored our whole short visit.
