The service here was outstanding as they were met any request I asked for. They were also great about getting me acclimated to Pittsburgh with recommendations and Chocolate Chip cookies are not to be missed.
We shopped around because we were in town for a wedding, and the blocked hotel was too expensive. The price and space can't be beat. The two bedroom option was perfect for traveling with a toddler. She went to bed and we still could have our own space. Tons of space overall, extremely clean. We would most likely try to request and upper floor because our upstairs neighbors were very noisy the first night. I'm assuming all units have hard floors, which make it a little noisier. Perfect location that is definitely walkable to shops/restaurants. Only complaint was I realized none of the windows were locked in the entire apartment when we got there, so I went through and locked them myself for security. We would stay here again if we were in the Pittsburgh area.
So I stayed here for about two week in August of 2019. I was impressed with all the staff, who were friendly and helpful. I was very impressed with Phelix, who did two things beyond helpful. He taught me how to turn on a gas stove -- I'm used to electric -- and hunted down some burn ointment after I got a cut on my foot. The office staff were friendly, whenever my suitemate and I needed something we got it right away, and the cleaning and maintenance staff were wonderful. The suite was about the right size for two students to share for two weeks. Two couples also could have lived comfortably there. My suitemate and I shared the dinner table when working on projects, but there was also a desk if we needed it. There were MANY pillows on the bed. There are groceries stores within walking distance, but I'd recommend using a car if possible for groceries.…
Sure there are other hotels that are 'suite-like'. Sure there are other hotels that are more modern and updated, but you will never find another hotels with as much charm, nor as cozy as this one. I only wish there was a Shadyside in other cities I travel too. The one-bedroom we stayed in was super comfy, clean, charming, quaint and just place ADORABLE. They have umbrellas you can use, a big kitchen downstairs you can use (besides your kitchenette in your room), and you get a cute gift bag with waters and stuff when you check in. Why are you still reading? Go book your room already!
We stayed for one month Aug 2018 and again a few days in Feb 2019. I was in UPMC for a transplant and needed a place to live for one month after surgery. We were unable to find a furnished apartment without a lease for only one month. We called Shadyside and spoke to MacKenzie who was warm and inviting. Because she was so welcoming we drove to see meet with her and Bandy, the Manager. We knew this was our oasis as soon as we arrived. The apartments were clean, well maintained, only .8miles from UPMC and on bus line. Free parking, laundry, hospital shuttle, and WiFi, telephone, TV and utilities were included. The apartments are furnished, linens are included. Housekeeping will come in weekly to change linens, towels and clean. BUT will do more often if needed.Wow! Oh and fresh cookies, apples and bottles of water were available in the office. They delivered my mail to my apartment also. We were taken care of so well I could focus on recovering from my transplant surgery. We returned 6 months after for a hospital checkup and this time brought our old dog who was unable to stay home. Again, the staff were so helpful and gave us an apartment in the building with an elevator. My old girl just loved staying with us and loved all of the new smells a new neighborhood brings! Hotel for anyone needing extra . Even with your dog. The only thing I would recommend to change? Higher profile toilet seats and a few apartments with walk in showers. …
