Beware! I read mixed reviews and decided to give the property a chance. Awful! It IS NOT within walking distance to Jim Thorpe Town! The property was shabby, loose handrail, peeling paint, broken patio chairs. Our ground floor room view was top of garage roof as well as the over flowing trash barrels in the side yard. Our room was dank, small and the smoke detector went off when we used the shower. Our coffee pot was broken and we were told they didn't have another. Don't waist your money!

Not impressed. Parking is awkward in the narrow driveway which was obviously not designed for its present parking space configuration. Access to the rooms is gained from the outside, and depending on which room you get, requires climbing 1, 2, or 3 stairways, each one leading to its own room with its own ‘private’ balcony. The stairs/balconies look like they haven’t been painted in years, and they are anything but private. The stairway is actually part of the balconies, and guests ascending or descending the stairs must, by design, walk onto your 'private' balcony. The room we stayed in smelled musty, and it was tiny with little space for us, much less for suitcases or anything else. The windows were filthy and the walls offered little in the way of blocking out noise. The bathroom fixtures were small and did not look like they were designed for adults. Most everything seems to have been done on the cheap, even the ‘art’ that was hung on the wall. It appears to be nothing more than a large sheet of gift wrap paper mounted and framed. On a positive note, there was, indeed, a view of the mountains.

We spent Wednesday 10/20 and Thursday 10/21 at the property. The room was clean. The property was fairly close to the town center. There is parking behind the facility. Bed and pillows were less than desirable. While it was convenient to have keyless entry, it would have been better for us to have someone on property to address the issues we had. The first night, starting at about 1 o’clock in the morning the smoke detector started to beep and continued to. Thursday night again it continued to beep, no one had addressed the issue and we woke up after midnight with the AC was not working, which made it uncomfortable and the microwave was not working the next morning. I did text the number I was given in case there was an issue on Thursday morning and was told they were sorry for the inconvenience. Assuming it would be handled. Again when I text Friday at check out about the AC , I was told, sorry for the inconvenience again. I am afraid on the poor customer service issues alone, I would have to consider other arrangements next time.

Booker Beware! Do not book your stay at this establishment as we were completely scammed from this property. We arrived to food crumb trails up the stairs. Entering our room to black mold on the ceilings, the bed having stains, obviously not been cleaned to the pictures of this place being far and in between the actual reality. We called the number to tell them to cancel our reservation. That we were not staying here. We STILL have not heard anything from the owner of this property. Our weekend was ruined as every where else was already booked for the weekend and we had no other choice but to go home. This whole situation has been a nightmare. We just want our refund. We also do not want anyone else too book here and experience what we have been going through.

We're not picky, we weren't planning on staying in the room much so we booked the basement room (suite 0) on a last minute trip. It's small and fairly clean. One main issue was the portable A/C unit. It’s a basement, so they logically had a dehumidifier running, unfortunately it heats up the room. To counteract that, they had a portable a/c unit tucked under the counter. It would run fine for a few minutes and then start rattling quite loudly for awhile before the compressor would just shut off before the room was cool. It was ~80 degrees in the basement with no air flow (we were told we could use the a/cc's fan function but there's a sign not to move it from under the counter since it's connected to a hose). We contacted the owner just to get blown off--they apologized for the noise ("sorry the a/c is a bit noisy...") but didn't get that it wasn't cooling the room at all. We sent them a video the next day of the a/c unit rattling off to make sure we were on the same page about "a bit" noisy and got blown off again. We packed up and found a cooler place to stay in Wilkes Barre for our last night. The experience was very impersonal because there is no one on site. We received a booking confirmation that said we'd be contacted the day of our arrival (no mention of a check-in time)...and we weren't contacted until 3pm on our check-in day. The property is poorly managed from out of state (NY). They bank on the popularity of the area being booked up. Somehow this place has an 8.2/10 on booking.com, I would review there too but we booked through kayak.com (that uses booking.com's ratings). There are significantly nicer places to stay for less money downtown (plan ahead, book early!) Other useful tidbits: the outside stairs are rotting and the “off-street” parking is a driveway with 4 awkward parking spots that require parallel parking and backing up skills. One spot is by a fence and there’s not enough space to open the car doors.

The single handily worst “Mountain View suite” ever. BE AWARE if you are elderly, disabled or have limited range of motion- there are a ton of steps outside that are unsafe and shaky, the stairwells inside are extremely narrow and steep. The “suite” is NOT a suite and the jacuzzi/spa is right next to your bed. The pictures are incredibly deceiving making it look separate and large. This “suite” was absolutely NOT up to pre-covid or post covid cleanliness. The most disgusting room we have EVER stayed at. We had to go to BIG LOTS in Lehighton(sp?) to purchase blankets, sheets and pillow. We had to purchase these items due to the dead bugs, stains and obvious dirt on the bed, and throughout the sheets. They were not up to even the most basic of standards. There was hair in the tub, we had to wipe this “jacuzzi” ourselves in order to use it, the light above the jacuzzi was FILLED with bugs, dust was on every corner of this room, including cobwebs, the smoke detector was missing/ripped out of the ceiling. Which is not even legal, you must have a working smoke detector- the patio was filthy and covered in dirt- couldn’t even sit on the chairs, the table hasn’t been cleaned in an obviously long amount of time, even though we aren’t smokers- if I was I assume I’d want a fresh, clean ashtray which was filled with black sludge. The bathroom was gross with duck tape holding the toilet pipes in the wall and dust/cobwebs in every corner. The shower head is the ONLY compliment I give this place. We spent $517.75 for a small 3 day get away from Monday Jun 28- Jul 1 and this roach motel completely dampened the experience of Jim Thorpe for us, knowing we had to go back. We wanted to leave but at the time hotels were at capacity coming up on the holiday weekend. The money we spent to stay was not worth it at all. I feel bamboozled, lied to and downright it is completely misleading. BE AWARE- This place should be between $50-$70 AT BEST. Absolutely disgusted and disappointed. If I could give ZERO stars I would. Please do not waste your time, money and energy at this below-average duplex style house. I can’t express how disappointed and sad this made our stay and my birthday trip, the owners should be ashamed of themselves.

Do not stay here this place is filthy and there is no management on site! I called these people to complain about my dirty suite but no one answered me. Upon arrival the place was falsely advertised and I found two huge stains on my blanket and dirty cabinets! Not once was I offered a new room! I requested a refund as this was a issue on their end and they refused! I filmed my stay here as well as my conversation with the cleaning lady. She admitted that she isn't given proper cleaning supplies and always try to tell the owner about the issues of the property! To no avail they never do anything to change this place and make it suitable for guest! If you're looking for a great place to stay with your love one or family dont stay here. It isn't upholding the covid cleaning precautions! This place has a new owner and all the owner cares about is getting your money not your health! I want a refund as I had to go to another hotel after no one would help me or answer my calls.

We arrived to find the driveway not plowed so there was no parking as well as no street parking, the front sidewalk and the stairway were loaded with snow and ice yet all the other sidewalks and stairs on the street were clean of snow...First you enter and walk through a dimly lit dining room. Our room was not a “suite” it was about a 10 x 10 room with a tiny bathroom no dresser no hangers a gap around the door you can actually see in. The bed had a big gully in the center of it, the windows have see-through curtains with a common balcony we found this place extremely disgusting and unsafe....I called the property phone number and someone answered the phone and said manager when I told him my concerns he told me he wasn’t the manager his name was Jack and he was customer service. He said he would get in touch with the manager and call me right back. After waiting for some time in my car with no response from him I called him back and told him to cancel the reservation and expected not to be charged, he agreed. We got in my car and stayed in an actual hotel not a boarding house...

The three flights of steps were more than expected. Didn't expect it to be a house in the middle of a residential area. The price was more than we think the value was. There was no breakfast and we never had any contact with anyone. We had a code and process to unlock and lock the house for the door lock system that was texted to us. It was very quiet and it was clean. There are a total of four rooms in this house. The top floor room has a hot tub which is nice, just remember you have three flights of steps.

This is not the place to stay if you have mobility issues, or heavy luggage! We found it very impersonal, to arrive to a locked door that had no instructions on how to get in, and with nobody around. Having overseas cell phones, we'd been out of range and not received emailed instructions that day. We found it frustrating to not be greeted by a person. Once inside, we were pleased with the cleanliness of the place. It was not possible to get heavy suitcases up the narrow, steep stairs; thankfully my friend had a room on the ground floor, so I was able to leave my bags in her room, and carry up the stairs only what was needed. As long as you are prepared to stay somewhere with no face-to-face interaction with hosts, and have no problem with lots of stairs, this is a nice enough place to stay.
