I visit Wentbridge House quite a lot (I photograph many weddings there) and always see first hand the quality of service that the hotel provide. My wife and I occasionally also have a night away there and last night was one of those times. From the friendly arrival at reception, to the spotless, clean, large and airy room, to the quality of the service and food and the ambiance in the Brasserie we absolutely love the place. It's the perfect place for a quiet romantic evening. Can't wait to go again.
We went for a romantic couples break and booked the luxury champagne break in a suite. This was a premium room and so with this comes a level of expectation. Before check in we struggled to find somewhere to park - wasn’t the best start as the car park was massively full and we didn’t like having to leave our car in the only space we could find. Check in was smooth but little details were lacking. We were impressed with the room (not perhaps the size of the bath) and the lovely card for my husband’s birthday was a nice touch. We decided to head downstairs after we’d unpacked for a drink. It wasn’t clear where the bar was (wasn’t pointed out on check in) and when we popped our head into the Brasserie although there was a bar, it didn’t seem there were any tables free as people were sat eating. After asking at reception, we were told we could have a drink in the Brasserie or the lounge - we were shown down to the lounge and given drinks menus. Over ten minutes passed and nobody came to take our order so we went back down to the Brasserie. We ordered drinks and the barman didn’t know how to charge them to our room so had to go get someone else to do it. We then went to take a seat and were asked not to go into the restaurant as that’s where people sit to eat but the other tables were being used by people eating in what I would say is the bar area? Of there were no seats why did the barman not tell us we could take them to the lounge? The waiter asked us to go down to the lounge and I pointed out to the waiter that we had come from there after waiting ten minutes for someone to take our drinks order. An apology wasn’t given we were simply told they didn’t take drinks orders in the lounge. Why wasn’t this pointed out when we checked in or by reception when we asked where we could get a drink - we were left feeling somewhat miffed and certainly not relaxed given that we’d paid nearly £400 for our break away. Later that evening we headed down for dinner. Having looked on the website for the hotel and given the price of the room, I had assumed we would dine in the more premium restaurant as opposed to the Brasserie which really was just like a bog standard pub dining room. Given the price of our break and the fact the hotel boasts a double AA rosette restaurant I just assumed that’s where we’d dine for our luxury champagne break- my mistake! The food was nice but £12 for a prawn cocktail that wasn’t anything extraordinary seemed steep. My salmon was cooked to perfection. I was, however, ill in the night. The bed was amazing - so comfortable. We did have a good nights sleep and it was quiet. Breakfast was nice. The dining room was busy. Our service was fine but it did seem unorganised. People waiting a while to have their order taken or even be seated. We chose this hotel because the reviews around service and attention to detail were so good. It seemed there were a lot of staff but there were functions happening. Are these functions taking the attention of staff when residents paying high prices are being forgotten. Overall I wouldn’t return and don’t feel we got what we paid for.…
Beautiful hotel in lovely surroundings! Very clean and rooms spacious , with all needs catered for! Evening meal in restaurant was superb but most of all, all the staff in both hotel and restaurant were very polite and welcoming! Breakfast in the morning had plenty of choices! Will definitely be visiting again!
We held our wedding day at Wentbridge in September and I cannot speak highly enough about the whole experience. The date was postponed twice due to Covid but they were really helpful and accommodating. Chloe did a great job organising the whole event and all our last minute changes. The venue itself is lovely, really classy and well maintained - both inside and out - which is excellent for photos. Many of our guests stayed overnight with breakfast & all had good words to say. The day itself ran flawlessly and that is largely down to Stewart who was brilliant, and all the other helpful staff. All in all a wonderful place to stay, to eat and hold events. I have no hesitation in recommending Wentbridge House Hotel to anybody and no doubt will be returning soon.
This is the second time we’ve stayed here! It’s a lovely place to stay, delicious food, very comfortable rooms, I think that was the best night’s sleep I’ve had in a long time! It’s a lovely building with lots of character! Can definitely recommend!
