The Hershey Hotel is fantastic! The spa was relaxing, the dining was amazing, the staff was helpful, and the ambiance was the best. The decor reminded me of a nostalgic, old-school german style resort. We will absolutely stay again.
Hotel is clean. Staff are amazing. Every amenity is easily accessible. Starbucks coffee. Rooms are bright. Directly across from Hershey Park and Chocolate World. Fritz the Bellman is the best. Restaurants are top quality. Filet Mignon is amazing. Brunch is offered and has an endless number of options in a beautiful, picturesque room. Smores and much more offered at night. Waterpark is amazing. The Poolside Help are also amazing, their chicken Caesar salad and tea are fabulous.
Our first time staying here at the Hotel Hershey, and I cannot rave enough over how very much I love everything about this place. Especially the upstairs lobby and the Iberian Lounge. Huge shoutout to Alex in the lounge. He’s a great bartender and a genuinely nice person. I’m very into the concept of Customer Service excellence, and he embodies it! As to the Hotel……I’ve read many prior reviews and feel it helpful to share my own opinions. Is it old, yes. Is it in need of some cosmetic repair, sure. Just like every older property of substance. But that’s exactly WHY I think this hotel is as fabulous as it is. It’s NOT new, with sharp edges and geometrically precise angles. The Hershey Hotel has character that is earned by years of worn carpets and people traffic. It is reminiscent of years of return visits by generations of family vacations. It draws you back to times when the destination WAS the reason for the trip. Though our reason for staying here is my husbands Business Conference, I’m certain our return stays will be for personal travel. We are currently staying in Suite 315, which is pretty centrally located on the backside of the main building and overlooks the mirrored reflecting pools and gazebos. As with the rest of the hotel, the room evokes the glamour days of the 40’s and 50’s. Multi paned windows with deep sill ledges, marble topped vanities and high backed chairs. Small chandeliers and tall dressers/end tables. A lovely reading lamp with two side by side bulbs and a very stylish lampshade behind a high backed chair in the bedroom. Evokes a feeling of charming warmth. There is also an extensive yet amazing outdoor patio above the main entrance. Were the weather not so cool, it would definitely have been my afternoon haunt. And the staff! Not once was I greeted with anything but “hello” and “how’s your day so far” and “have a great day”. I can’t speak to anyone else’s individual experiences, but I find The Hotel Hershey to be everything I could ask for in a home-away-from-home world.…
I have never taken the time to write a review in the past, but my love and connection to this property and the neglect I've observed in recent years has prompted me to post this. I have been going to the Hotel Hershey for 18 years, ever since I proposed to my wife in the Circular Dining Room on New Years Eve 2004/5. We immediately fell in love with this grand hotel, in all its charm, elegance, history, beauty and grace. We have been going back every New Years since, and once we had children, started adding a second trip a year in the summers to enjoy the pool and amusement park. I truly have a special place in my heart for this hotel! So with that said, it really breaks my heart to see how much it has been neglected in recent years. I have been observing the following over the last few years and after my most recent visit this past New Years, I had to put my thoughts down. Everywhere I look walking around the hotel there's peeling wallpaper, dented walls, gashed up furniture, worn out carpeting, very visible cracking around every piece of molding and trim. The neglect is visible and everywhere you look and it's sad. In the rooms itself - and I've stayed in many - the bathrooms are aging very, very poorly - shower/tub caulking thats filthy and peeling, bath fixtures that are barely holding on, towels that are torn. The bed mattresses are all collapsing, and worn out. I had a refrigerator that was literally hanging off its hinges this past summer in a cottage room. How does something like that even pass inspection from one guest to the next? Simple - no one is checking for it. For the incredibly expensive rates they charge - and its clear it all goes directly to the Hotel since there's NO travel websites you can book from — it's completely baffling to me how they havent reinvested any of this very substantial revenue into necessary updates and remodels. At least nothing major or visible to my eyes who's been back twice a year for many, many years. (And turning the retail store into a Lululemon boutique does not qualify as a renovation/remodel.) Unfortunately, when theres neglect like this building up over the years things have gotten far beyond simple paint touch ups and patches and band aids — this place is at the point where a major renovation is needed. And needed ASAP. On the service front, everyone is very friendly and helpful. One point of contention is after visiting for many years, every time we returned we'd be greeted with a personal welcome back letter from then General Manager Brian R. O'Day. Very classy touch. However that stopped years ago with this new GM. Disappointing. I can only wonder if that's when the rest of the place started its decline as well... I truly hope to see an announcement soon that Hotel Hershey has announced a major multi million dollar renovation. Or maybe they're hoping to get acquired by a big hotel chain that would make that investment for them. Either way, I truly hope put the love and care back into taking care of this grand hotel and making it beautiful and glorious again. C'mon guys make Milton Hershey proud!…
Lovely Historic hotel in a beautiful setting. Delightfully decorated for Christmas. Well organized activities at the pool. Delicious meals at the in-house restaurants. We had a wonderful time at the Hotel Hershey.
Pros: the property is well kept and beautiful. Well decorated for the holidays, quality finishes everywhere and the staff is lovely and helpful. While outdated, the rooms still feel quality and clean. Cons: actually ever getting sleep. The walls/doors/windows are SO thin that everything/anything happening anywhere near your room will sound like it is INSIDE your room. We're not light sleepers in the least - this is actually the first hotel we've ever had this issue at. However, we must have been somewhere over a dumpster or maintenance shed as starting around 5am we heard something being dragged across asphalt or cement and back again every 15 minutes. Ove and over, and it frankly sounded like it was being dragged across our foreheads. House keeping started vacuuming the hallway outside our door at 7am. We heard every "ding" of the elevator arriving, and every single conversation anyone had in the hallway outside our room (this went on all night, all morning). For $550 a night, and what can only be described as the worlds smallest room - very nearly possible to touch all four walls at the same time - one would expect to bare minimum be able to have a solid nights' sleep. The water pressure is also a trickle so don't hope to get a good wake up out of your morning shower either after your sleepless night. We've stayed at an incredible amount of hotels, domestic and international, and barring those which cleanliness standards weren't cutting it, this may be the worst night we've ever stayed in a hotel. It's unfortunate because the view entering/exiting the property is grand, the interior is very jolly and the front desk staff are lovely. But, the bare minimum expectation for booking a "night" in a hotel is that you're able to sleep during that night and we simply were unable to. The price implies Ritz quality, however, it's Marriott amenities & Motel 8 during spring break quality sleep.…
Unhappy for a second year in a row. You pay so much money only for the hotel to be SUPER crowded with company conferences. Second Christmas season in a row where the hotel is packed, can’t get a reservation for lunch or dinner, and breakfast is completely full with conference goers. I wouldn’t mind if it was families with kids but for it to be a conference just makes it like a holiday inn experience. Probably will save my $1,000 and go elsewhere
Would have been a 5 star but pool area n pool itself was too cool. Not sure what temp it was but 2 degrees more in the air n room are definitely in order. Even ladies bathroom was cool. Towels comfy, had kids goggles, n lifeguards. Outside was cold and noon temp was 39 degrees.
Have been going here every November for family get together for many years. Sorry to say this grand old gal has slipped. The breakfast buffet in the circle restaurant was a fourty minute wait ( there where empty tables all over) , at the Harvest restaurant dinner was just so so and the fish was mushy and smelled bad.Housekeeping did not get to our room till after 4 pm every day . Sorry but our party of 30 will have to consider other arrangements next year.
We had a wonderful overnight stay here. Loved the decorations for Christmas. The place is beautiful and we had such friendly staff help us throughout our stay. There was so much to do in Hershey, especially near Christmas. We will certainly be back!
