Hotel was under some renovations. I got the sense that a lot of the people there lived there...but can't be sure. Check in girl was super friendly and helpful. Pool was clean and fun. Was fairly clean. I did bring my laptop but wifi didn't work. Overall, was ok for the price.
We stayed here for two nights during Hersheypark dark nights weekends. Chose the hotel for its indoor pool, proximity to the park, kitchen setup but also closer to the comforts of home like Costco and Target right down the road. $149 a night with a Costco travel site and it was very well priced for what you get. The hotel itself is less than a minute from I 81 only one traffic light and a left turn from the highway is very convenient. There is not much else in the immediate area to walk to and despite being so close the highway was very quiet at night. Check in was quick and the room was ready right at check-in time. The kitchen was well stocked with pots pans utensils kitchen gadgets. The stove top is a two burner electric coil cooking surface. The kitchen sink has a garbage disposal included. Fridge had an ice machine inside. There is a small dining table in the kitchen area as well with chairs. Living room had a pretty small TV by comparable standards, a leather recliner and sofa bed. I had a hard time figuring out the air conditioning and the heater. There is a central air unit on the wall but I controlled all of the temperature and settings on the unit in the window. It worked fine once I got understood what to do which was basically ignore the central air unit. The bedroom has a vent that you can control to draw in the air from the living room. The bathroom is simple & clean with bathtub shower combo and dove soap bottles on the wall. The king size mattress was great another relatively small TV but decent closet and dresser spaces. We stayed in room 215 which is a one bedroom king bed with separate living area sofa bed. It feels a lot bigger than the studio suite rooms in this hotel and with two small kids was the right room for us. The indoor pool area has a hot tub and pool. Although the room was warm the pool was a bit chilly. We found ourselves hanging out in the hot tub more. Also for a pool area there was not a single chair in the entire room and we had to just lay our stuff on the floor Connected to the pool is a outdoor seating area with a nice gazebo and grill we didn’t use it but certainly you could have a nice meal outside on warmer nights. The hotel also has a little convenience area with necessities for purchase. We will definitely come back here again as we loved having the kitchen over any kind of breakfast specials to make our own meals in the large rooms made it feel very comfortable for two nights.…
Overall, this hotel is ok in terms of value compared with other hotels in the area. Staff was friendly and helpful. The only downside was that the floors on my room were sticky. While, I can see how the kitchen cabinets being sticky as normal with these types of places... Even the bathroom was pretty gross. Luckily I was able to get by by placing towels on the floor. For a one night stay this place is ok anything longer I'd consider elsewhere.
I booked here because of previous positive experiences with Candlewood Properties. I was disappointed upon entry to the property. The lobby and public areas are so outdated. The fitness center is so below basic. Once I entered my room, I was unimpressed. The furniture in the room was not conducive to conducting business. The box spring was busted and needs to be replaced. I later saw how dirty the bathroom was. The tvs are small and aren't mounted to the wall. They sit on the dresser! The entire property needs an OVERHAUL. Never again!
Horrible service at the front desk and poor management. Room smelled like curry when we walked in... Of course the bathrooms had mold.... not worth the money. If my family wasnt with me it would have been better. You can clearly see the lack of investment.
I had called a few times prior to my stay and everyone was so polite and had an upbeat attitude. On the day of my arrival, Brandon was wonderful at check in. Super upbeat and positive! Very informative of amenities! He was definitely the best front desk associate that I have seen. Rooms were very clean even though the hotel was a little outdated. I work at a candlewood so it was interesting to see a different one. Kudos also to housekeeping for cleanliness. I found a few things that could have been better but the sheets were clean and bathroom was super clean!
The place is clean. It could use an upgrade. Carpet needs at least stretching. Several small things were missing such as hand soap. The location is pretty good. I did have a nice sleep. I am not sure I would stay here again. The price is pretty good by today’s standards.
What a great hotel! Rooms were clean. Check in was a breeze. Very clean and nice pool area. We will stay again this summer because of the service. Candlewood Hershey park here we come. Thank you to a great staff to make our stay nice.
From black mold -to no hot water to the rudest most incompetent staff and Heather the supervisor should be fired for the way she accuses you of lying instead of recognizing the rights of the consumer. The head of maintenance told me with the straightest of faces that the reason there is no hot water in the morning is because “ we have a lot of employees here who take showers and use up the hot water but if you try now you will have hot water”. WHAT???? I need to schedule my shower time around the employees schedule? And the supervisor Heather whose modis operandi is to blame you instead of recognizing how disgusting this place is chimed in by saying “ yes in my home we have to wait for each other”. I asked her if I was paying to stay in her home? I showed her the picture of the black mold and she said said oh I’m sorry ! I told her that I couldn’t shower I couldn’t sleep and that I had asked for another room and this disgusting person told me “well I will have to ask the employee if that’s true”. I can’t just refund you. She then turned around and continued to accuse me of trying to get a free night night but telling me people do this all of the time ! I booked a 4 night stay paying the rate that would allow me to cancel within 24 hours of arrival. They have another rate where you need to cancel a week in advance! I was to arrrive on a Wednesday and the Saturday before that I called to modify my reservation to arrive on Thursday. A seemingly responsible person took my change called me “my dear” a bunch of times gave me a number and told me she would send me a confirmation. I have stayed all over the world and never had to follow up on this. Sure enough they charged me on Wednesday for the ENTIRE incorrect amount. I called them on Wednesday told them the issue and sure enough they don’t have it recorded and that’s why they charged me and this gross supervisor and her team in the front eating potato chips while sitting waiting to greet guests tries to implicate me in a scam that I drove all the way from New York so I can avoid 100 dollars in cancellation. Does she even know the price of gas. it cost me more to come there than their stupid rate. She then accuses ME of being rude and walks away from me like I’m a friend of hers in the schoolyard. Where in the world do supervisors learn they can just walk away from you, yell at you and accuse you of scamming them. This place should be shut down by the board of health and “ Heather “ if that’s even her real should be shut down right along with this place.…
I thought the customer service was great. Location is decent with easy highway access. The staff was helpful from beginning to end. I would definitely stay here for my trips to Harrisburg. The 24 hour coffee was great.
