Detailed Reviews
I would ignore the review below saying horrible and fraudulent. Our experience was much more in keeping with the first review.
Good things:
Polite Staff; good location for getting to Mt. Hood skiing (we skied at Meadows) as all accomodation in Gov't Camp was fully booked; good convience store over the road; Ok restaurant over the road with better than expected food and super-friendly staff; fun 'hippy' bar (Skyway) 1 mile down the road; Decent satellite TV (had BBC America so we could watch the England rugby game).
What you might not like:
As per previous comments bathroom was dated at best, some may say grim, but that would be overstating things. Shower was functional, but small and dark! Wouldn't want to spend more than two nights here I'd say.
Pillows were slightly odd in that they seemed to have a waterproof case on them.
Right next to the highway and if you wake up it's really quite noisy with passing traffic. Makes it a touch hard to get back to sleep.
Checkout time is 10am, which frankly is ridiculous in my view.
Wasn't the cheapest ($100) given standard but probably more a function of fact that it was a Friday night and all accomodation up the mountain had already been taken.

I think this was the only place with a vacancy for the night we planned to stay at Mt. Hood, which is why we rented it. 2 queen beds (not the most comfortable), wifi was very spotty-don't depend on it!, the darkening curtains were peeling and the bathroom door was a tight fit (difficult to open and close). Shower was warm, not hot. Cold air blowing under the outside door (we put our coats down to reduce the draft). TV didn't have many channels and some of them were very fuzzy. The manager was easy to contact via phone when we needed to check in and out. She had the room warmed up for when we arrived. Traffic noise wasn't bad at all. The outside screens for the windows were flapping in the wind. The restaurant across the street has great food.
All in all, better than driving home after a day of playing in the snow.

I stayed in a motel room for 2 nights and had a pretty good stay. The room was pretty standard as far as small motels go. The staff was friendly. The room was clean: bedsheets, carpet, bathroom. The walls weren't too thin so I didn't hear my neighbors. There is a fireplace in the room which in winter is probably really nice. I really liked the location as I was able to drive to Mt. Hood, Timberline Lodge, Government Camp and various trails really easily. There is also a small store across the street where you can get various supplies and there are several restaurants close by.
The criticisms for this motel are: the bathroom is a bit small and the shower was dim because the light source was far from it. They don't provide a minifridge/microwave (a necessity for me when I travel). Although the room was pretty clean there were a few small bugs when I first arrived that I was able to eliminate. Lastly, the biggest drawback to this motel is the proximity to the highway. It is very loud during the day (although that's not that much of a problem). At night, it's much quieter, but by the early morning there are trucks and cars driving by constantly. I believe there are cabins behind the motel rooms and those may be nicer and much quieter.
Overall, the motel was decent but for the price I expected a bit more. Staying there at the end of summer was not too bad. If it were winter and very cold I may have considered staying somewhere else.

We came in and the room looked small, but very cozy. Upon further notice, however, we found old candy wrappers, used cough drops, and a REALLY old Dairy Queen ice cream cup under one of our beds that had turned into a FUZZY (moldy) scientific experiment.
From the beginning, the staff seemed nice and informative. We'd booked the place for 2 nites because we were told that it was in their policy that we HAD to book for no less than that amount, so we planned to pay for and stay for that amount of time for a wedding that was on the next nite @ Timberline Lodge. To our utmost surprise, upon arrival we were informed that they'd booked someone on the nite of the wedding that we'd be attending.... WITHOUT NOTIFYING US!!!!!!!!!! The attendant told us that the person most likely was an iffy customer and he would notify us that nite if the other customer was cancelling. They told us that the deadline was 9pm....we called at 9:15, giving them time to get their act together... they moved the time to 9:30 and we waited until 9:40 and the attendant moved the time to 10pm. At 10:10pm we called again and were told AGAIN that they moved the time of decision to 10:30, and we called them at 10:40 only to have them IGNORE OUR CALL!!!!!! WE CALLED AT 10:45 and were told that the room was most likely booked the next day, so we couldn't stay another nite. Mind you, this entire time, we were told that THEY WOULD CALL US, BUT WE HAD TO CALL AND ASK THEM, BECAUSE THE STAFF WERE AVOIDING THEIR DUTIES AND THEY NEGLECTED TO INFORM US ON THE STATUS OF OUR ROOM.
The next morning, we confronted them about the issue and asked why THEY DIDN'T COMPLY WITH THEIR OWN RULES AND BOOKED SOMEONE ELSE IN OUR ROOM RESERVATIONS.... the attendant/manager told us that there was MANY phone calls the days prior and that things got MIXED UP?! NO restitution was made, no apology was made on their end. In the end of the exchange of words, the attendant admitted to booking over us for a LOYAL customer and thought that it MEANT NO MATTER TO HIM!!!! Being a military family, we ended up having to go back home to post, which is OUT OF STATE.
IF YOU WANT TO HAVE GOOD SERVICE, NO MATTER WHO YOU ARE, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!!!! SAVE YOUR SANITY AND MONEY FOR SOMETHING THAT WON'T GET RIPPED OUT FROM UNDER YOU!

We regularly ski at Timberline and this was our normal place to stay for a night or two almost every weekend. The manager/owner was courteous and accommodating. That was then this is now, Whoever is running it or managing now is just the opposite. She does not take late check ins past her bed time. She is less than courteous on the phone and she is what I would consider rude. She has not right to be in customer service! We miss the previous manager and do not want to go back until a new person works at the front desk or answers the phone. We have tried several times and each time is the same........DISAPPOINTED! REALLY hope things change so that we may stay at this convenient location again~~!

At first this place seemed just right but after five minutes of having to listen to the owner scream at his wife it just went downhill from there. To the lady with the 5 small ankle biters that would not quit barking to the seedy looking stephen hawking guy chainsmoking cigs. Quiet no.... disturbing yes! Then there was the guy with the Hitler mustache stealing my cigarette butts from the ashtray in front of my door. All together this is not a place for families. I would have felt safer staying in the place where they filmed deliverance.

We stayed here for the New Year holiday and at first I was pleased. We were promised a microwave in our room for 10.00 extra then to find out after we arrived that there was none BUT I was still charged for it. The rooms were very small, and the windows were covered in black mold. The beds were horribly uncomfortable! We cleaned our room and left.... I was charged an additional 10.00 without being notified because I was told that I damaged 2 towels! I took a shower and that was it? The owner was very unwilling to listen to my concerns... he just told me "sorry about your luck" DO NOT STAY HERE! IT IS DISCUSTING AND THEY ARE FRADULENT!!

The man at the check-in desk was extremely friendly and helpful and took the time to show us to our room, how to use the TV, and to tell us about all the various attractions in the area.
The room was good value. It was quite large, the bed was big and comfy, it was very clean, with a microwave and coffee maker. The TV had hundreds of channels. We paid pretty much what we have paid for rooms in hostel dorms so we were pleased with the value for money.
It is a short drive (about 15 mins) to Mt Hood and all the sno-parks.
My only complaints: so many hotels put the heater under the window, which means that the heat gets lost more easily. There was a little noise from the highway but it wasn't that loud at all.
All in all, a very positive experience, good value - we were happy!

i had booked a cheaper room w/o microwave and fridge but was upgraded since there were vacancies the night i stayed there.
the room was totally wood-panelled and looked rustic. it was generally clean. there was a sink in the bathroom but no place to put a toilety bag down. the 2 stools at a countertop were higher than the countertop so there was really no place to sit. it was awkward to view the wall- mounted tv from the bed- there was no chair in the room to sit in. no ice machine.
as others have mentioned, there's a lot of highway noise during the daytime. i was able to sleep using earplugs.
i'd say the main reason to stay here is the price vs. paying huge resort prices at better hotels on mt. hood.
