The rooms are small and tidy. Mine had plenty of places to charge laptops and phones, but my trip partners room was very lacking in those amenities. Friendly and helpful staff, great atmosphere. If you have a rental car be aware that parking is very limited and will cost extra. They were remodeling the Lobby for Jupiter and you had to check in at Jupiter NEXT- It's just helpful to know that ahead of the trip. The rooms are small but I didn't feel cramped and there are a lot of fun little extras that made me feel at home - chalk board art doors being one of them.

No major complaints here - the hotel room was perfectly clean and the amenities were what I needed. The only reason I gave it three rather than four stars was that the room I was in has a strange tremor approx every 30 mins or so... could be specific to the room I was in, could be temporary construction, not 100% sure but it definitely was jarring enough that when it first happened I thought... small earthquake? Once I realized it happened on regular intervals I figured it must just be some kind of odd building quirk or something. Not sure. It happened during the night, so not sure if it was related to construction. Either way, excellent value for the room, and a great location.

I was also pleasantly surprised that my room, which was very close to the music venue area at Doug Fir, was pretty sound proof once you had the A/C and fan running. Not very loud considering the bustling location the hotel is in.

Hello Kathryn, Thank you for staying with us! We've actually never heard this feedback before about any rooms at the Jupiter Original. Occasionally we will hear this type of feedback about the top floor rooms that face North toward Burnside at our six story Jupiter NEXT building. When this does happen, it is usually from a large bus going by quickly. This is the only thing we can think of that could cause what you are talking about Jupiter Original, but have never noticed it ourselves or heard of it happening there before. The majority of the rooms at Original do not face Burnside, so should you stay with us again, I recommend requesting one of the rooms that does not. We have passed this on to maintenance for them to look into, but our hope was that since we have not heard of this happening before, that it was a one-off occurrence. Thanks for taking the time to offer us feedback.

We stayed at the Jupiter during the week of my brother's wedding, which was at a separate hotel. The location of this place is everything and we also quite enjoyed both Hey Love and the Doug Fir. My main issues are with the parking situation - you have to pay a $15/day pass to use their lots and we were told no passes were available our first day despite both lots being half empty. Also our room at the OG Jupiter had a distinct mold smell which worsened throughout the stay and the bed was very uncomfortable. My cousins who stayed in the Next had no such issues so we'd probably opt for that next time if we return.

Hello Megan, Thank you for taking the time to reach out with your frustrations about parking and your experience at Jupiter Original. We appreciate it. One of the downsides to us being centrally located in a lively area is that parking can be a bit sparse. We understand this and do our best to make it very clear that our controlled parking is limited; as well as being on a first come first serve basis. We do have limited spots for those that had paid with the duration of there stay and they could have been exploring the city as to when you saw the empty spots. Of course we wish you had a better experience with us as it sounds like you did not get what you expected. It is direct feedback like this, to the staff during your stay, which allows us an opportunity to respond and improve your experience. Within our ability to accommodate, we always do what we can to increase the joy in your experience. We are sorry to hear about what happened during your stay and offer our hope that you come back to try us again so we can show you a better time next round. Please feel free to reach out on your next stay to info@jupiterhotel.com in hopes we can regain your trust.

We stayed in a king in the Jupiter original. The room was clean, and despite the retro vibe everything felt up to date and polished. Nothing was worn out. Room was exceptionally clean. Even the bathroom fan vent was clean. The room isn't large, but thoughtful decisions such as not cluttering up the nightstands or tables with a room phone or alarm clocks helps a lot. Staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. We spent significant time in the room, and never noticed any significant noise, even when live music events were occuring at the Doug Fir. Towels were very soft and felt new. Shower head was raised, appreciated by taller member of the party, water was hot right away and we had great water pressure.

The Jupiter Original is a great budget friendly option without compromising location or safety. Public transport was close and the room we stayed in was renovated really well and felt new-ish. The hotel provided chalk to draw on the doors which was also a nice touch

I LOVED Jupiter Next - staff was super helpful! The bar/restaurant in the lobby called Hey Love was SO MUCH FUN! The hotel is well located - walking distance to downtown, you’ll definitely want a car or Uber at night - this is more of a Portland thing, than a hotel thing. Paid (with in and out privileges) secure parking next door is helpful and reasonable at $15 a night.

I’ll def stay there next time❣️

We spent 2 nights in The Jupiter Hotel. It is an older style facility that is immaculately maintained and very hip with tasteful funk! The service was excellent and communication stellar. The location is excellent with multiple excellent restaurants and eateries, lots of fun shops, and proximity to lots of good Portland sights and activities. I highly recommend The Jupiter.

I can always count on Jupiter NEXT to provide an excellent experience. I have stayed there over six times in 3 years and every time it has been fantastic. Even during Covid when everything was weird, they did a great job maintaining cleanliness and Covid protocol. The staff of Jupiter NEXT is incredibly friendly and helpful no matter what you ask of them. The rooms are spacious and well appointed, the beds are very comfortable and cleaning staff does a great job. Having the Hey Love restaurant downstairs is a big plus for breakfast, brunch, drinks and dinner. They have a deal with the Evolution Fitness gym around the corner which offer is a very nice work out experience with low cost. I prefer staying on the east side as it is quieter & appears safer than downtown. Every time I come to Portland I will be staying at Jupiter NEXT if I can get a room! It’s a great value for an excellent experience!!!

A man entered our room at 10:26am without knocking.
We had the do not disturb magnet on the door. The hotel has paper door hangers in room, that if the guest does not hang the door hanger on the outside of the door, the staff will presume that the guest does not want the room "Tidied up".

I appreciate you taking the time to let us know about this mistake we made in entering your room. That should not have happened and I sincerely apologize for how startling that must have been for you. There was a miscommunication that resulted in that staff member being told your room was unoccupied. This encounter highlighted a need for a new approach to how we communicate and we have implemented a new system that we believe will prevent something like this from happening again. We hope to see you again soon so we can have an opportunity to show you our true service standards.

Staff was friendly, but it took two efforts to actually get my room booked.
Room was small and noisy. Even with ear plugs and white noise, i head every conversation and snore thru the walls.
Mattress and pillows were mushy soft. Mattress was placed on pallet on floor - about mid-calf high. Climbing out of a mattress that soft located that low was not much fun.
Price and location were both good, but there are plenty of nicer reasonably hotels located nearby.

Greetings cattledogger, We are sorry to hear that Jupiter missed the mark for meeting expectations. We are replacing the mattresses in most of the rooms at Jupiter this Monday, so hopefully that part will be a non issue for future guests. We hope that you enjoyed Portland and wish you happy travels.

Noise levels at the Jupiter can be a problem during the week too. Our room faced the street and traffic noise was a problem very early in the morning (5 am onwards).

There is space in your rooms but I'm sure the front desk can store them too. There is lots of space at the hotel.

Amy, We actually do have bike rentals here at the hotel. They are $6/HR or $35 for the day (which is anything over 6 hours). These can be rented from the front desk anytime prior to sunset. They come with helmets, locks and a map if you so choose. Let us know if you have any other questions
