Detailed Reviews
I have stayed at the Portland Marriott Downtown Waterfront many times over the last couple years. I always enjoy staying here because the room quality is what you would expect from Marriott. The location is also great if you want to walk along the waterfront or walk into town for dinner. This location also has a nice restaurant “Proof Reader” for those that want to stay in.
For those Marriott Bonvoy members that get access to the concierge lounge, this location has one of the best M clubs I have been to. The offerings for breakfast and dinner are much greater than most.
For those that like to get a workout in while traveling, like I do, will find an on-site gym with more than the basics. The gym at this Marriott has some basic cardio equipment, dumbbells up to 50 lbs, a multifunctional cable machine, and machines for legs, chest, & back. They also have an area where you can do abs, yoga, or stretch.
If you visit the Portland Marriott Downtown Waterfront I’m sure you will be more than satisfied and hopefully you get a great view like I did.
Safe travels,
Steve

This hotel is very centrally located near the river and to downtown hotspots. All are in walking distance. Take a walk by the river in the morning and then visit the brewery district in the evening and never check your car out of the parking lot. Woke up one morning to a clear beautiful sky looking out at Mt Hood - gorgeous! The next morning we were socked in watching the dragon boats row in the fog. Staff was on par...friendly and helpful. Would stay here again!

Room Tip: Ask for a room that faces the river so you can see Mt Hood if it is a clear day.

This hotel was just right for our stay. We had a room with a beautiful river view, and there were clear skies with a view of Mt. Hood. The room itself was very comfortable and I slept great here. The location is well suited to walk or catch the light rail around the City Center. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I wished the hotel had better breakfast options, since we had much better breakfast options at a different Marriott property on this trip.

For being on the river front you'd except maybe some kind of fish smell but no, our room and the entire hall way smelled like straight up sewer. We complained to the front desk and all we wanted was some air fresheners and maybe some fans but the front desk stated they were all out. What kind of hotel doesn't keep some on standby? the lobby bathrooms smelled like someone recently smoked drugs in it. I wouldn't stay here again.

One of the best hotel in Portland. It located right in front of the water and has a great view. I arrived on the weekend when there are some protest going on in the downtown. The staffs explained us about the situation and told us to check with the front desk for any updates. They even told me the area to avoid.
There is lots of differences of service during covid, they do not offer housekeeping service unless we ask, but that is okay for us as we are only stayed there for 2 nights and I can call the front desk anytime for any stuffs we need (extra towels, utensils, etc) and they come so quick! They also provide sanitizing wipes in the room (this is my first hotel that provide this during COVID)
Really recommended this hotel :)

I had the same experience at the LAX Marriott the other night. Room service food is great at both places, however, a few years ago they changed from typical room service table settings to "Fresh Bites: delivering in paper bags with recyclable plates, cutlery etc. I now have three bags filled with plastic plates, covers, cutlery and an abundance of packages of salt and pepper which I never used. Even one staff at the Portland hotel understands and agrees that this policy is not as environmentally friendly as their intentions. She said she has no power in her position to say much. They say all are recycled after use, but I don't see how that can be quantified if I asked to verify this. So while I am offered extra points to not have house keeping, and the shower gel bottles are replaced by refillable containers, this tremendous waste off-sets it. Washing traditional tableware cannot be that expensive. You could have a story about recycling dishwasher water for use for irrigation as a better way to send the message. What about the back office management to order, deliver and store thousands of pieces of recycled tableware in just ONE HOTEL? There is a cost in that. Since only 10% of all plastic is recycled, just saying we use recycled tableware and then we recycle the used recycled tableware really is a stretch in my opinion. I really don't understand the logic in what I am sure was a well intentioned effort. I wish that the top management at Marriott could review this and revisit a more sensible way to make a difference.

+1
This is a very nice hotel in downtown Portland and it's quite far from the airport. Uber wanted to charge me $80 for a ride there so I took the Light rail which cost $2.50 and you just gave to walk a couple of streets down. The restaurant is open but you better make a reservation because seating is limited. You can walk to the waterfront from the hotel or walk to nearby restaurants.

a nice downtown Portland hotel with a beautiful view of the river. we ended up staying here because the city on the coast that we were headed to was evacuated due to one of the Oregon fires. the Marriott people were so nice and accommodating offering a 25% discount to anyone that was evacuated. they upgraded us too. the hotel is also being very safe. you check in with two sets of see through plastic between you and the front desk clerk. unfortunately, nothing was open in the hotel except for the rooms and valet. free coffee in the morning from the front desk but that was it. over night parking is $55 a night. there is an open around the corner for $30. all things considered we enjoyed our time at the hotel.

We stayed over memorial day weekend, and it was busy as expected. The staff at the hotel were well trained and friendly. Having those bottles of water available for my child was a nice gesture.
I was a little upset that there were no soap bars available in the rooms. When I asked the front desk, I was rudely informed that I should use the shower gel next to the bath tub instead. Apparently due to covid, they cannot afford to keep individual soap bars for hand washing? I did not argue and left it as is.
Next day after housekeeping, miraculously a bar of soap was left at the sink though.
We were charged 3 days for valet parking, although our stay was under 48 hours. Thankfully, they did take off the extra night charges.
The location is great and the views are spectacular. Overall, would stay again.

Worst Marriott hotel ever. Old rooms without USB ports for recharging cellphones. Requested a wake up call which never happened. Maids delivered towels upon request but did not bring what was asked for. When making reservations I was told that airport shuttle runs only on weekends due to COVID. Well I tried to schedule that shuttle and was told it did not operate on Sunday. Last I knew Sunday was part of the weekend. Waited 1 1/2 hours for a local taxi to a restaurant. Uber and Lyft were not available, probably because the drivers were on unemployment. The waterfront area was smelly and dirty. The restaurants did not jack up their prices, but most decent hotel rooms cost between $400-700 per nite.

I would think 19 should be fine but to be safe I would say call the front desk or the Marriott reservation line for the proper answer. Since I am a bit older that is not one I’ve never had to inquire on so sorry I’m not much help on this.
Protests ar everywhere and close to the hotel. I would stay away from Portland until Trump gets his goons out of there
Without room key, as of February 2019. They are undergoing renovations and upgrades - I will find out next week when I am there.
