Stay was July 25th…was not allowed into office to register (5 pm)…nearly passed out in 100+ degree weather. Room filthy, bugs, cigarette burns in bedding, broken fixtures/damaged walls and intermittent wifi. No ice, no morning coffee service…this was the 5th stay in the 3rd Motel 6 in 9 days…the others were delightful. This was more expensive amid disgusting conditions. If I could have rated it less then one star I would have. Pay a little extra and stay somewhere decent.

We didn’t expect much. Just staying for a night to go to a concert down the street. So location? Sure, one star for that. Otherwise, would have given none.

Pics say most of it. Literal graffiti on the lampshades. Blood stain on the comforter? Stains on the pillowcases. Exposed wiring. And a weed wackier/tree trimmer outside the window at 9 a.m.

Seriously, don’t stay here. Yuck.

This is the worst place we have ever stayed!! We booked it for a concert at the moda as according to our expedia rep it was very close and convenient with gated secure parking. (And "LUCKY" us we got the last room available) There was no parking at all we could barely pull in the lot. Front desk said there was 26 parking spaces and 35 rooms and said to block people in and leave our keys with him and he'd move it if necessary, not secure not gated infact the motel was advertising event parking. The room reaked of nasty stale smoke in a nonsmoking room, bedspread had burn holes in it. The bed was visibly a sunken pit with two small lumpy stained pillows. The electrical socket cover was broken and laying on the floor in pieces. The smoke detector was falling off the wall and had no battery. Unable to use the coat rack/closet as it was falling out of the wall. The faucet in the bathroom fell into the sink when shut off and the sink wouldn't drain. We had one nasty hand towel and two bath towels that were stained with either make-up or blood or possibly not even washed. The shower head sprayed more water straight up at the ceiling than what came through he head. My shoes stuck to whatever was on the bathroom floor. The light cover in the bathroom was full of dead bugs. The t.v. power button was pushed in and the remote wouldn't work. The carpet had what looked like big bleach spots and needed vacuumed badly. It was quite an adventure right down to trying to leave. We were blocked in by other cars and the front desk guy asked me to move the car because he couldn't drive a stick. We only ever saw one person at the front desk and no other staff but he was nice. We are not recommending this place to anyone and will not be staying here again.

A place to stay for a very reasonable price. It is centrally located for public transportation, Max Light Rail, Cinema and Mall on a walking distance. Also walking distance to MODA Center and Portland Convention Center. There’s a lot of parking spaces for all guest.

We go to the Pacific Northwest annually to visit family, decided to stay here this year since it is more centrally located in Portland. I must say, the location is PERFECT. It's quiet too. The price is very inexpensive considering the location. You are right near Lloyd Center area. This isn't a downtown location, but is a quick drive to downtown if you are interested in going there. This motel is right near the Max (electric cross-town train) tracks, but that isn't bothersome at all.
The train is rather silent. There is also free parking right out front of your room, this in itself at this location is a dream come true.
Some drawbacks; the rooms are kinda old, beds are uncomfortable, the spanish tiles on the bathroom floor are kinda crumbly and dirty looking, and the continental breakfast consists of a few pre-packaged muffins. But for the price and location, you really cannot complain.
It's functional. If you want something laddy-da or comfy, go elsewhere - if you want to spend a few nights and save some money in a good location - stay here.

Stayed there because it was cheap and I didn't know any other hotel in Portland. I've got bed bugs bites all over me in the morning. When I asked the receptionist what was happening, he told me that those were probably "mosquitoes".
To make things worse, I carried them home with me and now I have to call pest control to eradicate them from my house.
A total disaster. Avoid this place at any cost.

Unlike other Shilo Inns, this property is more a motel than a hotel. The doors to the rooms all face the street, and the amenities are limited. There's a free breakfast included with the room price, which during our stay included pre-packaged breakfast muffins, bread, coffee, and orange juice.

My friends and I found the place clean and the on-duty managers friendly. For the price (about $70 including tax), this is a great place for budget travellers who want an inexpensive room with few frills. A light rail line which connects Portland's airport with the downtown area stops 2 blocks from this Shilo Inn. In fact, it's possible to walk to the downtown area, if you consider 20-25 minutes walkable. I found the neighborhood safe, if a bit commercial -- it's mostly other motels and hotels nearby -- and had no problems walking around late at night.

If you're looking for a cheap place to stay near the city center, this is a good choice.

Let me start out this review by stating that I am usually a "3-star-or-better" traveler, so I have certain biases. I decided on a lark to spend the night in Portland, and wanted to do it on the cheap. So I got one of those travel coupon books at a rest stop, and it happened to have a coupon for this Shilo Inn for only $49+tax per night.

I expected to find a three-story building with interior corridors and perhaps a small pool, like the Shilo Inns I noticed for years along the Interstate. I was disappointed to find this Shilo Inn to be a very bare-bones, exterior-corridor motel in a somewhat seedy locale. It was a bit unsettling to check in and see a "No Refunds" sign at the front desk.

The room was small. It had newer, albeit poorly-constructed furniture. The phone was missing the template that shows the hotel's phone number and room number, and there was no other literature to be found in the room. There always seemed to be a fine mist on top of the toilet seat. The pillows were small, flat and generally unappealing. The free continental breakfast ended at 9, before I even woke up on Sunday morning.

On the plus side, parking was free and the TV had a full cable lineup. And as mentioned, you have easy MAX light rail access. But in the end, I was sort of creeped out by this place--in the middle of a big city, especially, I like to have interior hallways and more of a visible security presence. From then on, I either paid more for better hotels or used ultra-discount Web sites to get into 3-star properties for about the same price or a little more.

Stayed Sep 3rd - I should have looked here before booking!!!!
Motel room door would not open properly from outside. You had to work with it to get it to open.
Room had strong, horrible smell of cigarette smoke, and we are non-smokers and it was a non-smoking room, and it smelled disgusting.
I could not get the door to latch closed from the inside - at all. The front desk staff had to come figure it out. He discovered you had to lift up on the door as you closed it, or it would not latch.
Upper security lock on the inside of the door was coming off as it appeared someone had tried to force the door open.
The air conditioned would not turn off, you had to unplug it to turn it off. The directional grate on the AC was all busted.
Left lamp, on the wall by the beds, was broken, lamp shade kind of hanging off to one side and it did not have a light bulb.
There was no trash can in the room or in the bathroom.
The remote had tape holding the batteries in and would not work. The staff reprogramed it, and it partially worked.
My bed had black hairs in it, going to assume it was from the cleaning staff – still, kind of disgusting.
There was no ice bucket in the room, nor was there an ice bucket available at the front desk.
The door jamb inside the bathroom was clawed and chewed apart by a dog and the entire door jamb was barely hanging on, the nails were coming out.
The ice machine was working, but broken up and leaking all over the ground around it.

I booked this place for a week while attending a conference at the convention center. I was excited because of the great location; within walking distance to the convention center and a few restaurants. However, the room was terrible!!! There was black mold in the shower, the toilet would not stop running, and it was leaking water on the floor. I mentioned these problems to the person at the front desk and they said they would fix/clean things up by the next day, but that never happened. In addition, the cleaning lady left her hair all over the place. I found her hair in the shower, on the toilet seat, on my pillows, in my suitcase, in the refrigerator....it was every where!! The MAX rail was located just across the street so I was lucky enough to hear it pass by every 10 minutes. By day three I was finally able to tune out the noise of passing by trains.
