Prior to check in, the hotel doesn’t feel safe at all, the outside parking is small and the underground one smell like piss.
When iI checked in, I had to wait 10 minutes for the front desk manager to show up. Then, when i got my room key the real show started.
From the underground parking to the first floor the stairway is small, smelly and packed with garbage. Them when we got to our room, i was in shock: the room floor looked like it had not been mop for ages, their was nothing to cook with (even if we rented the place for the kitchenette), the microwave was nasty and rusted and so on.
I went back to the front desk to understand why we didn’t have anything to cook with and so on. We finally decided to check out because the hotel was not safe at all and the room was nasty.
If you value your life, don’t be cheap, rent a better hotel
I have stayed at many Motel 6 over the years and I can honestly say this is by far the worst one. Ever. This is regarding my stay on Sunday the 16th of Aug.
It is my understanding that it was recently a different companies property, which leaves me to believe you have NO standards before you put your name on a motel and open it for business. So now, on with the lowlights.
On your website it states "Fully equipped kitchen". There was NOT ONE cup, dish, pot, pan or silverware. ALL cupboards were literally empty.
When you opened the refrigerator door the insulation was showing.
The stove/oven was old and well worn and a knob was missing.
The TV's are STILL the old tube style and one of them was missing a power button. You had to stick you finger in a hole in the front of the TV to turn it on. After the TV was on, the picture was so poor it was unwatchable.
No elevator. Most of the parking for the property is subterranean, so if you are lucky enough to be on the 2nd floor (like we were) you must carry everything you want to have in your room up 3 flights of stairs.
The property allows smoking right in front of the building, so for the multiple trips I made up three flight of stairs, there was the added bonus of sucking in 2nd hand smoke.
The carpets in the hallways and rooms were worn and dirty.
The stairways are very narrow and covered with the same worn, dirty carpet as the halls.
There was a full trash can just outside the entrance with garbage spilling out of the top for the duration of our stay. There was also beer/soda cans lying right by the front stairs. Have I mentioned all the cigarette butts right next to the empty cans?
Including taxes etc., we ended up paying the better part of $100 for the room.
All things considered, if I stayed here for free, I would have been grossly over charged.
The hotel offers wireless internet access (free!), just make sure you request a room in the wireless zone. My first room was not in the wireless zone and they were really great about moving me.
The underground parking is a little tight (might not be great for a really large vehicle) but it is free and I never had a problem getting in and out in my Acura.
They offer a free continental breakfast that includes coffee, tea, juices, dougnuts, pastries, fruit and cereal. It is served from 6-9 am. There are also vending machines available.
Although I did not use it, the hotel also has a seasonal pool. They also have park and fly service and are close to the airport. Despite the proximity, I had very little trouble with noise. I did hear planes now and then but it was not annoying or really an issue at all.
If I wasn't moving to Portland, this would be my hotel of choice if I ever needed one here.
One warning: there is road work being done on the street in front of the hotel until August of 2005. I had some trouble getting into the parking lot as left turns were not allowed, but from what I can tell they road work will have moved further down the street by early June and no longer be right in front of the hotel. Obviously this is not the hotel's fault so I would not count it against them!
Because of my disability I tried to order food to be delivered to my room room so that I could avoid the excruciating pain of going up and down the stairs. Not possible This hotel does not allow restaurants to deliver unless they have a kick back agreement with them! Kick backs for a damn pizza they said they do not allow pizza hut, dominoes or chinese restaurants amoung others deliver to the facility and those allowed are not permitted on the premises after 10pm.
I had to wait over an hour past the scheduled pickup for a shuttle to pick my up. I was exhausted and hungry when I arrived but I was not allowed to order something to eat.
I picked this facility specifically because it had a pool travelling is very painful for me and a pool help me take stress off my body. I was told the pool was closed for the duration of my stay however the pool was open to the family and friends of the manager! Within moments of arriving I was accused of stealing remote controls there were no remotes in my room and when I asked for one I was told there h! ad been two in the room and I must have stolen them. They gave an incorrect password to the wifi to me. Front desk refused to help until the next day and I ended up calling a national tech support line to help me access wifi. No soap! The only soap was an obviously crushed packet containing only powder residue and no they would not replace it. There were no bath towels in the room only wash clothes and hand towels.
This place is horrible the cleaning staff is reuired to submit fake reviews each day before starting to do whatever they do, they don't actually clean. America's Best has dropped them but they are not taking responsibility for guests that suffered through this fiasco while it was America's Best . Watch for a name change.
