I loved my stay at Lolo pass. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The space was set up really well and kept very clean. There are two major bus lines that pick up right in front of the hotel and you’re about a ten to fifteen minute walk from a few neighborhood areas if you’re looking for more options. Overall fantastic spot. They are new so a small suggestion would be to add a few hooks in the dorms - especially for damp clothes during the rainy season but other than that it was just what I was looking for.

I had such a great time here. Front desk and bar keep were kind and chatty. I opted for a private room and it was spotless, like tracked my newly showered, wet feet through the room and wiped it up with a white towel…towel came up clean. They had everything I needed and the location is primo. Very impressed. I’d stay here again in a minute.

We loved the rooftop patio!! The rooftop bar wasn’t open however we ordered drinks from the bar downstairs and took them to the upstairs patio to enjoy. The sunset views were incredible! We shared a 4 person dorm, the beds were comfortable and made private with the curtain that pulled across. We had electrical outlets with USB charging ports and a little shelf to put things on. We enjoyed having coffee in the morning on the outdoor patio downstairs. Overall a fantastic stay! Would recommend!

The room was very clean and the location is good, but there were several problems with this place as a hotel:
1. The room was extremely small.
2. There was no night stand on one side of the bed and you have to literally climb over your partner to get in and out of bed since the bed is pushed up against three walls in a corner of the small room.
3. They give barely the minimum necessary for a hotel. No wash cloth in the bathroom, not very good lighting to read, no tissues, minimal towels, only one pillow per person, etc.
4. It was priced like a hotel but was more of a hostel with some private rooms.
5. When we arrived, we were told that the room we reserved (which was an "accessible" room that was a little larger than their standard room) was blocked. Even though it was after check-in time, we asked when our room would be ready and the clerk said she didn't see that it would ever be ready that day. We accepted the smaller room but lodged a complaint. They offered a 10% discount which was appreciated, but we thought 20% - 25% would be more appropriate. We sent a message about this when we received a request for feedback from the hotel after checkout, and never heard any more from them. (They ask for feedback but then don't respond when some is given.)
6. One thing I think is a bit unethical that I've seen a few times in this hotel and a couple others: They send an email after checkout asking that we review them if we liked our stay, but to send them complaints directly if we had some issues or complaints. This is a bit of a tricky way to try to reduce the # of bad reviews and artificially inflate their review score on booking.com.

I only needed a place to sleep for one night, but I didn't want to pay a lot of money. Lolo Pass was such a great option for me. The staff and the accommodations were above and beyond what I expected. The entire facility reminded me of European hostels I've stayed in from the décor to the vibe. The showers and bathrooms were very clean and they even have a laundry room to use! All in all, I would recommend Lolo Pass to anyone wanting an inexpensive, comfortable, safe place to sleep in Portland.

Had the opportunity to visit this chic little hostel this past weekend. Everyone was very friendly. They have a nice cafe in the am, and bar in the evening, the pastries and cocktails were phenomenal. Parking was abundant in the neighborhood, it was right on the public transit line, and super close to downtown! Would definitely recommend getting a hot toddy and making your way up to the rooftop patio. The view was excellent, provided the rain stayed away!

I came here with my wife on a little weekend getaway. We needed a safe, comfy, and inviting place to stay while we spent most of our days exploring the city. It's set in a perfect spot to get everywhere easily. The cafe, bar, and rooftop were selling points for booking Lolo Pass and they did not disappoint. We hope to come back soon!

It's not worth your time and energy to stay in a hotel where the staff are rude, entitled, unkind and judgmental. No Fun at All . It was also, very dirty and if you are all concerned with covid don't stay there. They put everyone in one room, when there are many other empty rooms available. The energy of the staff, is too cool for school.
Never Again.

Response from Lauren Gonzalez, Owner at Lolo Pass
Responded 9 Jun 2022
Hi there Allyson, Thank you for taking the time to review us! We appreciate any feedback that can help us grow and provide a better experience for future guests. We're so sorry that you found the staff to be unwelcoming. That is definitely not the typical experience our guests have with our team. (You can see most people love our staff, as evidenced in our other reviews!) I assure you, all of our staff is super friendly and eager to help our guests in any way we can! It's what we love most about being in this line of work! It was a busy weekend when you stayed with us, so it is true that our dorms were full. When we can, we do space people out, but the nature of the shared accommodations does mean that they can fill up, and guests should be mindful of that possibility when booking. We do require proof of full vaccination to stay in the dorms to help with ease of mind surrounding traveling during COVID, and recommend our private room offerings for guests who aren't quite that comfortable with shared accommodations at this stage in the pandemic. As far as cleanliness goes, this is one of our very top priorities! Our standards and the standards of our housekeepers are extremely high! We would hope that you would let us know next time, so we have the chance to put this right! We hope you'll give us another chance to show you what a good time you can have at Lolo Pass. Best wishes & safe travels, Your Friends At Lolo Pass

I’m in Portland for a few nights and chose Lolo Pass because it is right in between two places I wanted to visit, Revolution Hall for a concert (a short walk) and Voodoo Doughnut (a block away). I arrived at nearly 1 am after a couple flight delays and still they happily checked me in. There is a bar and coffee shop on the first floor, as well as a cool art gallery, and the space is welcoming as you enter. Lolo Pass is both a hotel and a hostel. I’m older than most of the people staying here (most appear to be twenty-somethings), but I did see others who were a bit older. I chose a private room. My room is perfect, and very functional. No phone, fridge, or TV, but a comfy bed, a private bathroom and shower, and quiet and that’s pretty much all I needed. I love it and slept great. And this hotel/hostel has quiet hours overnight, something I truly truly appreciate. A lot of young people work at Lolo Pass and I found them all very nice to talk to. There is a rooftop area and a shared kitchen available, neither of which I experienced. There is a laundry room as well which I took advantage of and found quite affordable. Daily/nightly activities available for stayers. And a cool mystery vending machine. Where were hotels/hostels like this when I was in my twenties??? A few restaurants and food trucks a block or two away. Overall. I had a great stay and at a good price. Thanks Lolo Pass! Coolest place I’ve stayed in a long time!

Hostel was a great place when traveling alone. Got to make my own meals in the fully stocked, well-lit-clean kitchen: plenty of pots and pans and measuring cups, and places to store the food I brought. The common spaces are clean and comfortable, spacious enough to spread out, but also lent themselves nicely to meet people easily. The rooftop patio was gorgeous, with it’s fire pits and sky views.
The linens were quite nice, but the room itself was a little sterile and cold energetically with the concrete floors, so bring slippers or cozy socks!
Staff was very accommodating. Cool they have all gender dormitories.
Hawthorne and Belmont districts generally are pretty neat. Great exercise place called Industrial Barre and Ride nearby, with a fabulous vintage store across the street! And Hawthorne Asylum foodcart hub was a hoot.
