Detailed Reviews
I am handicapped and need a electric scooter to get around on and I also need an ADA Compliant room for myself and the scooter. This room (210) is the smallest hotel room I have ever been in. Just getting in the door was a nightmare. I had to maneuver down a narrow walkway and then hold the glass door open while on my scooter while jockeying back and forth to get in the door with out falling off the 2 foot high ledge and tumbling down the stairwell. Then holding the glass door open, I had to slide my card in the door of the room and twist the knob to open it. While in the room, I was taking a shower and the stool they gave to help handicapped to shower broke and I fell on my tailbone. I notified the front desk clerk and he said he would tell the owner. I don't believe this room is ADA COMPLIANT because of the difficulty getting into it and the narrowness between the bed and table. The walk in shower was huge though! The bed was a bit soft for me. Then to add an insult to my tailbone injury, the morning I was leaving, I scraped my knee on the metal frame to the glass door cutting it open! Very narrow room and walkways. The Inn was very clean and I had no issues there. It had Cable TV, AC, Refrigerator, Micro wave, WIFI but NO Breakfast that I was aware of. And it is hard to get someone to answer the phone when you need them. But when they do answer they are very polite and helpful. This would be a great room on a budget for someone who doesn't have to use a scooter to get around.

Myself, wife and adult daughter stayed here for 3 nights during a trip down to Portland Oregon from Vancouver Canada. We were visiting people in Portland and wanted somewhere reasonably priced but comfortable and safe to stay. The hotel is about a $20 Uber ride down to the riverfront in central Portland. (Found a great artisan food and crafts, jewellery etc open air market there on the Saturday morning BTW). There is also a bus stop nearby. This is not a luxury hotel but it is certainly very acceptable functionally, with a decent sized room, comfortable beds, tea/coffee facilities in the room and available at reception. Room and beds were clean and kept clean. Breakfast (in a small area near reception) is simple but adequate for a start - coffee, tea, yoghurts, apples & bananas, muffins and a toaster. The reception staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful in the main. The hotel is in a primarily commercial area, surrounded by businesses etc. There is a Mexican food place nearby but didn’t try that. The area seems safe and quiet and the night’s sleep was good. There is ample parking at the hotel which is ‘‘ motel style” but and three storeys. Pretty little residential cul-de-sac called SW Primrose Street which is just beside the hotel and nice for a quick stroll. We booked for 2 nights and stayed a third. Don’t dismiss this place if you’re looking for a clean, safe and reasonably priced pied-à-terre for a short stay in Portland Oregon.

First visit to the states from Alberta, Canada. It was a ton of fun and we loved Portland. The location was perfect where we didn't get the hustle & bustle of the downtown traffic, but close enough where we could be there in less than 5 minutes. Katelyn at the front desk called a cab for us twice and was super helpful with directions. Will stay again

Thank you for the review Kate19877! Being located up in the southwest hills affords our hotel the luxury of being away from Downtown Portland, yet easily accessible to main streets and the I-5. Our staff strives to accommodate all of our guests and answer any questions about Portland, in addition to recommendations for local food and activities. We hope to see you again soon!

I traveled here in August '21 to stay near my sister, who was on hospice with terminal cancer. I needed a place close to her house and the options were limited and dingy. After calling several of the nearby hotel/motels and dealing with cold, rude hotel staff, I spoke to Troy at Aladdin Inn and Suites. He was the most accommodating, nicest person. I was in a fragile state because of the reason for my trip, and his congeniality made me want to stay there immediately.
I still had doubts, as this part of Portland has some pretty dingy dive hotels. And from the outside, this place wasn't looking to be any better. But the rooms were clean and comfortable. As a frequent traveler for work, I usually stay in the pricier and generally standardly nicer international chain hotels. I absolutely cannot stand stinky rooms or dirty linens. But even in these chains, sometimes rooms will smell like the air freshener they use to cover the underlying odors. My room had none of this. Just crisp clean sheets, zero smell, and they were quiet and cozy. And the internet was reliable and fast.
I paid for a week, but only stayed 4 nights, after which I moved in with my sister to be with her through her end. I was promptly refunded for my unused nights and wished well.
I want to thank Troy and the staff for being so lovely and accommodating, and cannot recommend this hotel enough.

I ask because they do breakfast could we please use he laughed said no we dont do breakfast. Told me not sure where I got my info. Off there web site. I said can I speak to management or supervisor he said there don't have any set time to be there abd maybe they would call me back. It isnt his problem. I said how sweet I will make sure to leave a review he said I'm so scared. On top there no place to sit in the room other then the bed, it is tiny, outdated, not clean. Very sad that we are dealing with medical issues and other can be so careless. I will be letting hospital know. Please save your self the stress and don't stay here

First of all, this is a MOTEL, NOT a hotel. Second, the rooms were disgusting. Brown stains on the wall, fridge, and microwave. The bathrooms were so gross that I actually used shower shoes. And to top all of this off, the manager was SO RUDE to my family and me. I will NEVER stay at this place again nor do I recommend anyone else. The only reason I'm giving the service a point is because the front desk ladies were very nice and pleasant to deal with. I still cannot believe the atitude my family and I received from the manager....completely and utterly unprofessional. Someone like that should NOT be running a business.

There's a few genies that came out of this Aladdin's not so magic lamp... and they're called Bedbugs! We found them in room 106 and unfortunately not until the next morning.
This place is a health hazard, gnarly, outdated in addition to being overpriced.

Responded 3 Mar 2015
First and foremost it should be noted that this isolated incident has been taken very seriously by the staff and management of the Aladdin Inn and Suites. Our guests, past and future, should not be alarmed as there is no bed bug problem at the Aladdin Inn and Suites. Although an isolated occurrence, anytime a guest is not satisfied or not comfortable for any reason it becomes a top concern for all of us at the Hotel, as guest satisfaction and comfort remain our number one priority. Regarding the incident in question the room was immediately taken off-line; a staff evaluation was conducted, followed by a thorough professional examination Terminix. It was not until management was 100% certain that the room was suitable for occupancy that it was returned to inventory. This incident is both frustrating and alarming, as we host thousands of guests each year, consistently providing exemplary service and comfort. We unequivocally apologize for the inconvenience and discomfort this guest experienced and once again, we would like to assure you that the Aladdin Inn and Suites does not have a bed bug problem. We take every step including staff training and implementing professional preventative programs to insure our guests’ comfort. Employees of the Aladdin Inn and Suites are firmly committed to guest satisfaction and the guest experience. Sincerely, Entire Aladdin Inn and Suites Staff

My daughter and I had booked a room online for 3 nights as my younger daughter was to have surgery at OHSU Monday August 6, 2012. It was confirmed by email. When we arrived after 2 p,m,, we were asked to wait awhile as the rooms were being cleaned. When we came back a very rude young lady said we have no room for you. but if you want to wait around someone may cancel. We were tired after traveling all morning and just wanted to rest before going to the hospital. By the way the money wasn't refunded. We were sent to the Hospitality Inn and no charge there. We have nothing good to say about Aladdin Inn and the young lady at the desk on the afternoon of August 5, 2012. M.Hartley and S. Price

I stayed at the hotel for 2 nights during the weekend and was given a bedroom on the 3rd floor. The traffic around the hotel is not busy, so it is very quiet in the room during my stay at the hotel. The room come with fridge and microwave. Since I tend to eat leftover at night before sleep, it is nice to be able to heat up some food and drank cold soft drink with it. As far as I am concerned, the room looks clean, smells clean, with good lighting. I think it is a good option for people on a road trip, biz trip, or younger traveler. It might not be the best choice if you travel with young kids.
Lastly, the hotel is just about 15 minutes outside of Portland, and on the way to Silver Fall Sate Park. I find the location convenient, and close to supermarket and restaurants.

Our son has a degenerative corneal disease and sees the good people at Casey Eye Institute/OHSU in Portland, a four hour trip for us. We've stayed here several times and haven't had any major problems. Yes, the place could use some updating, but all in all, it's a decent place to stay for the price, especially if you get the OHSU discount. On January 27 I called and reserved room 216 for March 4. No problem. We like this room because one of the two beds is in its own separate room with a door. When he has a procedure, this is ideal because he can go in there and shut the door and rest while his dad and/or I can stay in the outer room and talk or watch t.v. w/o disturbing him. A week or so before his appt. I received a call from one of the hotel staff stating that room 216 wouldn't be available for the 5th after all. I asked why a few times during the conversation and was never given an answer. I finally just asked if we could have room 217, because it is just like 216 and this gentleman said, Yes. Fine. On March 4 my son and I are on our way to the hotel. Halfway there we stopped for lunch. I called home to get my messages and had a message from Kaitlyn from Aladdin. She said that she had an issue she needed to discuss with me and had hoped to catch me before we left. I called the hotel and spoke to a gentleman, I think his name was Christopher(?). He informed me that the person who had stayed in room 217 had decided to stay over another night and they didn't want to move them." I said, "Why not? I have a reservation for that room. In fact, I booked the room almost a month and half ago, albeit it was room 216 and I wasn't even given a reason why we were booted from that one! He said, "We could give you the suite 215 for the same discount." I said, "Why is my reservation being ignored because someone decided to stay." He couldn't answer that. Since we were between a rock and hard place, seeing as we were half way there, I agreed. But I was NOT happy. When we got there I asked what was going on? The desk clerk didn't know. He said he hadn't worked anywhere before where they did what they've done to me. Okay . . . but that didn't explain anything. ?FYI, room 215 was not on par with room 216. Don't know if we'll be back there or not if we our reservation is subject to someone elses desire to stay another night.
Oh, and the rooms in 200 block face the parking lot which, of course has dusk to dawn lighting. All good and well for security purposes, but when you're trying to sleep in that outer area and you're sensitive to light disturbance, it's the pits. All they have up in the window is a mini blind and it does NOT block out the ambient light from the parking lot. It would be nice if they had curtains up like they have in the more private room. Also, drapes may help to deaden some of the sound.
I would really appreciate it if the manager could give me a call and advise as to why we were treated this way regarding our reservation.

Thank you for your feedback regarding you recent stay at our property. On behalf of our entire team, I would like to apologize for not exceeding your expectations. We want all our guests to leave our hotel knowing that they had a great stay. We are very sorry that not the case with you. We do see you had reserved one of our suite rooms that has an additional private room with a bed. We are very sorry you did not get it. Unfortunately, situations arise with our guests(especially hospital guests) that necessitate the current in house guest to stay additional nights. That is what occurred and unfortunately we had to move your reservation to a different suite. Our front desk staff attempted to contact you to notify you of the changes. Your satisfaction is important to us and we will be using your feedback you gave us to implement improvements to ensure that we handle this situation better for future guests. I hope that you will consider staying with us again so that we can have another chance to provide you a superior experience. Sincerely, The Entire Staff at Aladdin Inn and Suites

Hello Lilli,
There is a boarding facility called Central Bark :) that has two locations nearby. They've been around for about 15 years and have a high rating overall. In addition, they offer webcams so you can check in on your furry children as needed. Their website is quite comprehensive so I'm sure you'll find what you're looking for. Good Luck!
