I normally read reviews before booking stays, but foolishly trusted our experience of other Motel 6 stays.

Having now read other reviews, so many really ‘chime’ with our own experience.

The no-smoking room stank of stale cigarettes, although the room was tidy, nothing was particularly ‘clean’. TV didn’t work, wireless was non-existent and the pool grimey (I counted at least 4 cigarette buts floating on the surface).

Generally felt unsafe although the location fairly good for exploring Portland.

Only plus point was being right next door to a fantastic brewery with great food.

Not a good hotel, the room was run down and very tired and the bed sheets had stains on them. The air conditioner was noisy. The area was bad lots of prostituties and deros in the area and nearby, the pool not available didn’t look like it had been used in years. Would not recommend

Will go down as the worst hotel experience I've ever had.
We got the room and when my husband sat down at the table and rested his elbows, it flipped the table top up and almost smacked him in the face! We looked under it and was just held on by one screw, which had worn out.
I had heard stories about how the strippers would bring their Johns back from the Safari Club next door and primarily all the rooms on the right side of the building were reserved for long time stayers and the strippers escapades but didn't think it would affect me.
The mattress was shoved against the wall and my husband was asleep in the corner with the remote hidden under him. All of a sudden I heard a deep male voice in the throws loudly-as if it were in our room. Sounds like a stripper brought back a john. Horrified, I couldn't find the remote under my practically dead husband. I buried my head in my pillow.
The next morning, I tried to forget about the day prior's experience and got up early to get some coffee from the lobby. when I returned to the hotel room, I was mortified to see the flat sheet (which was used instead of a fitted) had lifted to reveal what looked like a murder scene. There at my head was what looked like old blood pooled, and flowing down the side. There was even a dried puddle stain on the floor!!
I immediately packed us up and stomped to the front desk to the woman with 1 tooth and whiskers demanding a refund. She was full of apologies until the housekeeper called her to say it was chocolate milk. Then it was "well, I'll refund you for the 2nd night unused but not the one you used. It was just chocolate milk." I'm sorry, if you are that cheap, why wouldn't you flip the mattress to hide this? I was horrified.
NEVER STAY HERE!!!

Staying at this hotel was truly a nightmare! The first room we were given smelled like someone had just smoked three packs of cigarettes and then shut the door. Also, the six or seven flies buzzing around the bed were disgusting! I immediately called the front desk and we ended up in a disabled room with one bed instead of two, and the only improvement was that it vaguely smelled of stale cigarettes rather than reeked. As we were switching rooms, the door flew open right next to us, and a drunk guy with no limbs or clothes started to scream at the blowsy woman in doorway that she was "no damn good" - to which she replied "Why you keep comin' back then?" Lovely. Then the drunk guy proceeded to pass out in the parking lot for about an hour. We really had no choice but to stay at this point because the hotel room had already been paid for by a friend. The room we had to endure for two nights had a filthy bedspread and such a crusty blanket that we actually had to request additional sheets to use as blankets during our stay. All during the evenings we could hear the drunks and the tweekers yelling and raising hell throughout the hotel. It was truly a horrible hotel experience, and a great disappointment after staying in some very fine and clean Hotel 6's across the country. The owner or manager of this Hotel 6 should not be allowed to be a part of the Hotel 6 chain, and they should be ashamed of themselves in running such a shoddy, disgusting hotel.

This place was simply nasty. The "non-smoking" room smelled of smoke and even had an ashtray in it. The beds were uncomfortable and rock hard, and the pillows were lumpy. The neighborhood was frightening with what appeared to be prostitution going on in a neighborning room and tons of traffic in and out of rooms in the middle of the night. I could not sleep because I was scared of having my car stolen/broken into.

The front desk agents were basically friendly, no complaints about the staff. Because of the low quality, dingy ammenities in this hotel, I will never be returning to this chain. Saving a little bit of money is not worth being scared and uncomfortable all night.

price was ok. but rooms were grungy, bed against the wall on one side. mattress uncomfortable and old. stained carpet. cigarette burns in what was labeled a non smoking room. also found human hair inside bed sheets. I noticed alot of traffic coming and going from one particular room from a very interesting crowd.. also located next door to what I found out was a strip club. the sink was broke in the room. wouldn't drain. when attempting to switch rooms the clerk asked if I had opened the soap, or bathroom products.. I told him yes, and he refused to help the situation, proclaiming we had been in the room for more than hour, and we had already used it, however; we could pay again to get another room. this is one of the worst places i've EVER stayed. I would not recommend anyone stay at this motel. the service was horrible. you can find a better place to stay for the same price.

I booked my two-night stay at motel 6 in Portland over a month ago for this trip. When we arrived, they put us in a smoking room with cigarette burns and stains all over the bedding and the bathroom light did not even work. We tolerated it for the first night because we had no other options. At 7:30 the next morning I went down and requested a switch to a non-smoking room. The woman I spoke with was the manager of the hotel, Anto, and she told me that she would put me on for the next available non-smoking, two-bed room and I could come back that afternoon to pick up my new keys.
We were going hiking for the day and could not be back to check in to our new room until early evening. So, we packed up our belongings 1) so they would not smell like smoke, 2) because we did not trust the hotel, and 3) so we could be out of our old room and into a new one right when we got back. She said this was no problem, come get your new keys around 5, and I handed her my old keys.
When I came back at 5 a new girl was working the front desk. When I asked to get new keys she said you do not have a reservation at this hotel, you checked out this morning, and we have 0 availability to offer you and I don’t know what you’re talking about. I had her call Anto, the manager that spoke to me this morning, who insisted that it was a miscommunication and that she thought we were checking out that morning. I insisted back that no, she specifically told me to come back at this time and get my new keys for my new room for the second night of a trip I had booked over a month ago. They continued to say they could not do anything for us, we were checked out this morning, and here is my invoice even though I had already paid on hotels.com for my two night stay. They were willing to give me a refund but said they did not have the power to, which is why they gave me the invoice copy. So, now I am stuck with a copy of an invoice and need to at least get a refund of the night we did not even get to stay at this hotel because of their carelessness.

On arrival i was happy front desk women gave my 6year old the WiFi password without the 3dollar charge. BUT WHEN ENTERING ROOM first thing I noticed was a cum stain on the first beds comforter!!! Every house keeper I have spoke to about a few gross concerns have been very polite so customer service is good... but I think behind closed doors some are obviously lazy. Also ciggerete burns everywhere in a nonsmoking room, used toliet paper roll and used soap bar in the bathroom. I expected not the best from a motel 6 but a sperm stain right when you walk in..
REALLY?

Stayed here for one night because my BIL booked it for us. He wanted something within close distance to the USCIS office. It is located on 4.5 miles from the office, but it took us an hour and 20 minutes to get there due to high traffic volume.

The hotel itself was also disappointing. I've stayed in Motel 6 before and I've not had a bad experience, but I have to admit this place gave me the creeps.

- I didn't feel safe in the neighborhood and therefore didn't sleep well.
- There was no remote in the room; was it stolen by the prior guest or just kept at the front desk to prevent such action? Don't know, but had to call the Front Desk and get one from them; this remote subsequently "died" the next morning and was unusable.
- The shower. Hmm. New "half moon" shape. Really not big for ANYbody. I couldn't imagine a LARGE person trying to shower in there. There's no tub, the shower head, at least, is angled towards the wall and not the curtain to try and contain it in the shower stall. The water pressure was awfully slow. I felt claustrophobic.
- "Free" wi-fi. NOT free. Have to pay either $2.99 or $4.99 per PERSON, per DAY. $2.99 allows for internet/email usage. $4.99 allows for videos, movies, etc. Really, in this day and age? I'm pretty sure Millennials wouldn't be happy to add this on. Fortunately we were able to use our 4G and I-phone access without paying extra.
- Beds. Comfy enough, but squeaky and too soft for my back.
- Laminate floors replace carpet. I understand this is the "new thing" for hotels. Not sure I like it. I kept wondering if they sanitize the floors after every guest leaves. I'll be certain to bring slippers next time!
- Cheap. It. just. felt. cheap. Like sleazy cheap. Gross.
- It's located off Powell Street, a VERY busy road. We encountered bumper-to-bumper traffic from the moment we left the parking lot. Very stressful, but of course, it was early morning work traffic.

I stayed here for a night as it is close to a place I will be doing several trainings. They called before arriving to see if I would prefer upstairs or downstairs. I wanted quiet and safe. The rooms are very simple but also very clean and inexpensive. Beds are comfortable. If you show your registered AARP card you get free Wi-Fi. Fine place if you just need a place to sleep, shower and watch a little TV before bed.
